In Shelley’s Frankenstein, people labeled Frankenstein as a monster because of his appearance. In Staples case, a women automatically considered Staples as a monster by the way of his looks. We can all make the assumption that we shouldn't judge a book by its cover and actually take the time to get to know how people really are before we judge them.

It was time for recess; everyone was anxious to go outside to the playground and play tag! I was the last one to leave our classroom because I had to stay 5 minutes after for throwing a pencil during our class time. I finally got to go outside and then I was walking around looking for my friends through the playground, but I couldn’t seem to find them. There was this kid on the swings though—he had amused me and caught my attention. He was swinging so high up it was just incredible. He was a year older than me—I was in fourth grade and he was in fifth. I just wish I knew how to swing up so high like he could. As I’m standing there looking at him swinging, he suddenly tries to get off the swing by doing a backflip while the swing was going up. He gradually let’s go of the handle-bars and releases himself off the swing when it was noticeable that he was up way too high off the ground. He had landed on his arm. I was in shock as I could hear him screaming and crying. I immediately went to go get one of the teachers to help him because he had fallen down and couldn’t get up. Finally being able to get up, the kid realized he had broke his right arm. It was shocking seeing him cry of all the pain he must’ve felt because of his broken arm. I will always remember that day because I was the only one standing there looking at him while that happened. If it wasn’t for me, that kid could have been left there down injured for hours.

What's the point of bullying? If you don't like someone or they don't meet to your standards simply don't associate with them. There is no reason to hurt them emotionally or physically just because you don't like them.

Human Value

At some point in time, every person plays a big role in this world but as time goes by and people get older, they start retiring from jobs while still taking part of the worlds population. People could be bother by that because if they're old, everyone else believes there is nothing else they can do with their lives and just a waste of space. I think that at one point they were the ones that maintained all jobs for us and they provided us with all the resources we needed and to show respect, we should let them live and feel just as important as we do until their time comes to pass away. Until then, we are all worth the same human value.

Political Power

“Political power is out of the barrel of a gun.” -Mao Tse-Tung I agree with this quote mainly because America has gained all of their power through the military years. America started off with simple weapons but now that they are powerful they use weapons to enforce their power on others. If America didn’t have the weapons or such strong military, they wouldn’t be able to get other countries to listen to them. Political power really does come from the barrel of a gun but the weapons and military have given America their power.

There is always a blurred line between work and play. A good example can be playing a sport; the main reason why you play sports is to have fun. But once you love the sport you start working at it. You work to get better and even to get paid for playing. As a personal example, playing soccer in the summer with my friends can be for fun. Going to college and playing soccer, which is what my goal is, can be consider work. Not only would I be playing for fun but also for competition and seeing if I can go pro and start getting paid for the sport I play.

Work and Play

I agree with Mark Twain’s statement. Work and Play are much alike. Play is more for the fun of it whereas work is more for the money. Although some people do get paid for playing; sports or such activities. But the criteria involves being more mentally prepared when it comes to work than physically when it comes to playing. Of course work has many more requirements you must meet as to where playing is just for the enjoyment.

Expectations

My parents have never put too much pressure on me. All they ever expect me to do is have good grades in school, but to me that's a lot. School to them comes before anything else. If I can't have good grades is school, to them I won't be successful in life. They give me all their help and wish for me to some day finish a good career. My parents expect me to put up a good example for my little sister although she has always been better than me in school. I will do my best to be at their expectations.

What Would Orwell Think

Orwell would probably not like the writing from "Graduation" because there was a lot of figurative language that didn't give any specific descriptions or information. Angelou also uses low diction most of the time, especially when talking about what she would like to do to some of the people at the graduation. Orwell would prefer writing to be precise and straight to the point.
