I had my driver’s lesson the other day and I couldn’t stop thinking about what kind of drivers the girls would be if they ever got out of gilead

like I can imagine agnes is a perfect driver, she drives slow sometimes but you will never feel unsafe in her car. becka speeds a TON and often curses out other drivers, but overall she’s fairly safe. hulda is an anxious driver, but with practice she gets better. shu though… shu is a terrible driver, I just know it. I’m talking her insurance is sky high kind of bad driver, and sometimes daisy has to pry the keys out of her hands because even though she’s horrible she adores driving.

just saw a the testaments edit to ‘seven’ by taylor swift and all i can think of is daisy trying to introduce these girls to the outside world after everything is over and it is cracking me UP

Every time we see Becka's mother in a social situation, she was scrambling to fill the gaps in conversation, make people comfortable, praise people, cater to them. She's very uncomfortable with silence, unlike her daughter who is relatively quiet and restrained.

Becka is often wrapped up in her own thoughts and pain and does not feel the need to cater to others, while her mother was uncomfortable with sitting in her thoughts, focuses on others to distract herself from discomfort.

I expected this flaw to cause her to sweep her husbands abuse under the rug, take her place as mourning widow and let them take her child.

I was NOT expecting her to overcome this character flaw in such a massive way. Instead of manically pretending nothing has changed when Becka comes back, she confronts the issue directly and takes initiative. Instead of ignoring her husbands abuse, she tells Becka that she should have killed him. Instead of turning a blind eye to her daughter's death, she sacrifices herself.

Becka was looking for god and justice, trying to right a wrong that could never be righted. In her search for divine justice, her mother died for her sins.

She found someone to save her, just not the one she wanted, and not in the way she wanted.

The scene in catching fire where Katniss goes to Haymitch to make him promise to protect Peeta only for him to say that Peeta was just there asking the same thing for her is heartbreaking and beautiful and tragic and all that

but its also hilarious because it gives us a very clear metric for the difference between Katniss and Peeta's emotional bandwidth. At any given moment, she's about 45 mins behind whatever realization he just came to. And they're gonna end up in the same place, at the same conclusion its just gonna take her an extra sec to get there give her a minute

im rereading catching fire before reading sunrise on the reaping and there’s a little detail i didnt remember and it is that haymitch was sending the other victors messages through bread in the arena, so finnick was very fixated on any bread that arrived. but katniss of course doesnt know this so she’s just kind of annoyed by it, like finnick is counting the little rolls to figure out the message and katniss just goes “finnick and his fucking bread again🙄🙄”
