I really enjoyed designing effie and imagining what capitol fashion would be like . For her outfit, I took some inspirations from high fashion on runway shows/ current trends and gave it a new eclectic spin!

P.s. I drew these back when the ballad of songbirds and snakes came out.

Something about older sisters in the hunger games. The first line in the book is katniss reaching for prim. Tuck in your tail little duck. She only volunteers to protect her sister, the sister who still died in the end, who she couldn't protect. Who she took out tessere and hunted for days to feed. Who helped her pick dandelions for soup. Who loved that goat. Who she wished was there to help take care of peetas leg in the arena. Who she saw so much of in rue, who was herself the oldest of five (or 4, id have to check), who katniss loved and mourned, who's memory stayed with her through everything that came after. And Maysilee, who became sister to the newcomers, helped them look their best. Fought with them and fought for them. Maysilee who left a sister behind. Will marilee still be a twin when I'm dead? Marilee who was sick with grief for decades. Who had to hear haymitch call her sisters name at the funeral. Who had to see her sisters face in every mirror and shop window. Tigress, who stayed home from school to learn to cook a turkey, working herself to the bone to keep coryo alive, doing god knows what, keeping him dressed and fed and rubbing his head when he got headaches. (I know theyre cousins but my point stands. If not sister than why sister shaped?) The sister Coriolanus almost had, that died with his mother. I was going to have a sister. The sisters haymitch always thought of when he saw the donner twins. Even effie being revealed to be an older sister, only here to help her sister, and roped into it all. She is like, the textbook eldest daughter though. Maude ivory remembering all of lucy grey's songs. Lucy grey leaving her rainbow dress for maude ivory. The very last thing we see katniss do is sing prim's lullaby. Plant prims roses in the garden. Keep prims cat after she dies. Wanting so desperately to protect the ones you love. But not being able to. Its sisters all the way down

She was never scared of them.

Effie wasn't scared of Haymitch after his Games. She told him as much, that she knew he would never hurt her. And we know from the books that it's a similar case with Katniss. Katniss was going on a rampage when they were wheeling Peeta away after the 74th Games. And the person who went to her was Effie.

Effie was never, not once scared of them. She always trusted that they would never hurt her. Even when her Capitol upbringing probably said otherwise, even when people like Drusilla Sickle existed, Effie never once believed her victors would hurt her even if she knew how capable they are to do just that.

And that's... wow.
