It's been a day. I teach two year olds so there's that. And then my mom likes to make snide comments because she doesn't like me being a small child teacher. Even though it's a job that I'm taking for a year to save money for grad school. Along with that I'm pretty sure one of the other teachers, that we work a lot with, hates me. So it's been a day.

Stiles is waiting for her at the airport. She could blame it on the air conditioner; but that’s not the reason Lydia’s insides go numb. She exhales, her throat feels like it’s closing and her eyes lose focus and for the life of her she can only stand there like a deer in headlights, her entire face paling as she just stares at him.
"Stiles." she whispered, tears brimming in her eyes.

Nothing was the same after Allison died. She was haunted everywhere she went- voices, whispers- and not just from the living; soft, unintelligible words followed her from class to class, in the car as she drove home, when she was with the pack, at night as she lay in bed. The voices never stopped. Her own pain never stopped. MIT couldn’t have come sooner. She’d left early- graduated as soon as her acceptance letter came in the mail and never looked back.
And it was wonderful.
She hadn’t missed Beacon Hills and now she was back.

Lydia puts on her most menacing smile, the one that melts teachers’ hearts but can reduce a freshman girl to the verge of tears. “You need me?” She asks, arching a perfectly sculpted eyebrow. “Pity. Because I don’t need you.” She examines her nails, before brushing imaginary lint off her skirt. “Now if you’ll excuse me...” She trailed off, before flouncing towards her exit.

"You thought i’d make this easy for you?" she rasps, lifting her head with a laugh. Her head hangs just between her elbows, hair cascading down moving along with her breasts with each gasping intake of air.

Lydia leaves Beacon Hills as valedictorian and returns some time later with a Bachelors, Masters, and a PhD under her belt. The only reason she comes back is because her mom's getting remarried to a lawyer named Kevin. She’s not fond of the man her mother insists she call her ‘soon to be stepfather’- he calls her Lyds like Jackson used to, and tries too hard to be one of those dads you see in sitcoms (cosby sweater included)- but her mom likes him and he treats her mom nicely, not to mention he’s surprisingly age-appropriate, so Lydia keeps her mouth shut and lets them build their new little family on the other side of the country.
