Omi is not a cheap drunk. In fact, it skews more towards the opposite for him. Even back before he had the opportunity to build up any tolerance, when he had his first drink, Omi didn’t find that he got drunk at all quickly. Most of his friends were pretty blitzed, some even puking drunk, before Omi felt properly drunk and a little wobbly on his feet. He’s someone who can casually drink on a night out without getting wasted, since he does have a naturally high tolerance to alcohol. The fact that he’s also someone who drinks slowly and discovers quickly how to pace himself when it comes to drinking also really helps.
I definitely do believe that Omi is someone who wants a family someday. He’s someone who genuinely enjoys children of all ages and he’s good at making kids feel happy and comfortable. He’s not too cool or grown-up to play with them and he makes sure to give them as much attention as he can. He’s great at taking baby pictures and pictures of little kids for that reason. When it comes to his own life though, I do think that Omi does have that eventual dream of a happy married life, surrounded by kids. They don’t even need to be biologically his own; Omi is perfectly content with adopting and would actually really enjoy the idea of being a foster family, something that could make a difference for a child that might not have had the best life. He just knows that, while it’s not something he's rushing, a big family is something that is going to be a requirement for his future happiness.
A silly little headcanon, but I think that Omi can do some pretty strange things with his body. He pulls out those tricks to entertain his younger brothers or little kids, though sometimes he does them playfully to make others laugh or to gross them out in a playful way. These strange things include being able to turn his eyelids inside out, being able to wiggle his ears, and being double-jointed enough to reach his fingers back to his wrist and to almost be able to lick his elbow. If only his tongue was just a little bit longer, he’d have it all set.
Omi doesn’t get strongly attached to most material objects. There are some of his things that he really enjoys and takes pride in, but not to the point where, if those things were to disappear, he’d feel like his whole life was falling apart or that he’d lost something he could never replace. Because of this, he doesn’t really have objects that are incredibly precious to him or his ‘prized possession.’ However, there is one exception to that. Omi has a photo album, filled entirely with pictures of his family before his mother passed. His father helped him fill it with pictures of his mother, some of them taken when Omi was a baby, some of his mother before Omi was born, some of the whole family, some just with Omi and his mother. It’s something that makes Omi smile every single time he opens it and he does treasure it. It’s part of what inspired his love for photos, his love and desire to capture all those beautiful memories into something a person can hold onto and look at for the rest of their life.
It’s very rare for Omi to get really upset, visibly so, or to get quite emotional. When he does, it’s almost always done away from everyone, all by himself. He finds that, when he does get upset or emotional, the best way for him to self-soothe is by getting away. He likes going on drives when he gets upset. It used to be on his motorcycle and, when he starts feeling like he can ride it again, that becomes his go-to again. He likes getting outside of the city, to the outskirts or more rural areas, where everything’s quiet. Just sitting out there on his bike, hearing the crickets chirp and nightbirds sing far off, the whole world and all his worries fade away. When Omi does get into a partnered relationship, his partner will happen across a perfect way to soothe him. While he’ll still need space and time to himself after an argument, when he’s just having a tough time, back scratches and head scratches, combined with lots of cuddling, never fails to soothe Omi. It’s something his mother used to do to him when he was a baby and a toddler to quiet him down and it’s still something that, all these years later, just makes him peaceful and content.
Omi has always enjoyed cooking and baking, but since moving into Mankai’s dorms, he’s really began to love it. He wants to find new recipes and dishes that the others will love and each compliment he gets from the others only fuels that desire more. Since meeting Juza, Omi’s been trying out various sweets recipes. While Juza is quieter and more subdued in his enjoyment, Omi knows the signs that Juza loves something. The other boy will get this small, soft, sweet smile when he eats something delicious and that’s really the best pay-off for even the most difficult of desserts that Omi will have made.
When Omi gets into a relationship, he tends to get into it for the long-term. He’s definitely someone who prefers serious and committed relationships rather than flings. Once he’s comfortable with his partner and they’ve become exclusive, Omi really likes to take photos of them. He’ll take selfies, of course, but he also really likes using them as photography practice. Whether they’re candid shots or posed pictures, his partner will become his favourite model.
Just another silly little headcanon. While Omi is definitely not someone who gets attracted and interested in dating someone just because of how they look, I do think he might be a little bit more physically attracted to shorter people. He’s a really tall guy, so it’s not hard to find partners who are shorter than him, but when they’re really short, he just finds it kind of…adorable.
Omi is, in my opinion, someone who hides a lot of things very well. Unlike more mysterious characters like Misumi and Hisoka, or people like Taichi, when Omi hides things, nobody suspects anything. There’s a lot about Omi, a lot of interests, talents, opinions, thoughts, and dreams, that he keeps inside. He’s never been the best at fully opening up and being himself. It takes a lot for him to be comfortable even starting the process and even then, it’s iffy. The problem is that Omi often puts other people above himself and doesn’t want to be a burden to them or to disappoint them in any way. At home, he stepped up to fill in for his deceased mother. He struggled to share or deal with his own grief and instead kept it inside, focusing on what he could do for his family instead. With his gang and with his best friend, he focused on being the leader they needed or the good-time guy. His deceased best friend was the person who came closest to seeing the full extent of who Omi truly is and all the things he contains inside themselves. With Autumn Troupe, as much as he loves them, he falls into doing the same thing he does with his family – focusing more on taking care of them and being strong and responsible for them instead of allowing himself to just be, well, him.
Omi is a huge fan of pro-wrestling. He’s been into it since he was a kid. He has his favourite pro-wrestlers, both Japanese wrestlers and American wrestlers, but he does tend to lean more towards American pro-wrestling, where the wrestlers, while athletes, tend to be more actors. While he often found himself attracted to the ‘heels’ when he was a kid, Superstar Billy Graham and Kane being his favourites, he found that, as he grew into an adult, he really started to fall more in love with the face characters more.
