Hi! Thank uu and I’m happy to answer! the home buying process is sooo daunting, I wish more information was available to everyone! but yes we live in western ma! We were looking in ma specifically bc my i grew up here and my partner has spent time here and basically western ma was the only area that fit our budget and what we wanted: not a condo, and we didnt wanna see neighbors / wanted to live in the woods/have acreage. i started with just snooping on zillow in the areas I was looking at and if I wanted to see a house in person Id let zillow assign me to a realtor but as I got more serious we found a realtor we liked and continued to work with her to make appts to see houses since they wouldnt let us see it alone. At this stage I got a preapproval letter from a mortgage broker to know what we can qualify for. I kind of knew already since my mom is in the mortgage industry, but when you start placing offers a lot of then require a preapproval letter from a bank or mortgage broker to fo along with it. We probably saw over ~10 houses and placed ~4 offers before our current one was accepted? If I could give any advice I would say even tho its tiring and heartbreaking dont get too demoralized when an offer isnt accepted! i actually thank god that we didnt get the house we places our first offer on- I think that was early on in our search and we didnt even know what we wanted yet since the more houses you see, the more clear it is what you like / dislike.
