Anxiety Garden

Hello! Long time no talk.

I’ve been creating an ongoing weekly comic series named Anxiety Garden for the past couple of years, and I’m posting the entire series on Tumblr now that tumblr is sorta back and twitter is in its death throes. You can read it over here:

It updates weekly on Wednesdays, but until it’s caught up to the latest strip, it’ll be updating every weekday at 5pm PST. (I think, the scheduling function seems really broken and is showing all of my posts as being scheduled for the day after the date I set, so maybe it’ll be Tue - Sun lmao???)

What do you think of when you think of Olympia? Mountains, riot grrrl, but the beer mostly.

What’s your favorite zine hack? Letting InDesign do all the page collation for me because I suuuck at pagination.

What are you gonna be for Halloween? Griffin McElroy .. you know ;)

What motivates you to finish a zine? Seeing the amazing work my friends are doing is a huge motivator for me to finish so we can all trade zines together.

What workshop are you the most stoked about?They all look absolutely amazing, but I’m pretty down to relive my childhood and make some shrinky dinks with Liz Yerby!

September Dailies

Hi, quick update! I have to table my September Dailies because a very exciting work opportunity came up in my day job that I need to give my attention to. I have a lot of updates to share about comics stuff though, including an upcoming tabling schedule! I’ll be sure to share it all here once I have a couple more dates locked down. Thanks friend, I love you all!

So where have I been and what have I been working on? 

Like I mentioned a couple posts ago, I was in a year-long comics certificate program. My final project was to create a comic between 12-30 pages long and self-publish it. I decided to pick up and flesh out a project I had been outlining for a couple years titled Joint Spasm.

Joint Spasm chronicles my initial diagnosis with severe Rheumatoid Arthritis in March 2012. I finished the first 14 pages of this story for my graduation, but I’m fleshing out the remaining 6-8 or so in order to debut it at Olympia Zine Fest (I’ll be tabling!)

I wanted to share the front cover and the first three pages with you all. I’m going to be posting more about my upcoming shows and where to buy my comics soon. I can’t wait to share the entirety of it with you.

Hello, long time no see!

I just graduated the Comics Certificate Program at the IPRC here in Portland, and it was a year-long comics boot camp. I was so busy working on my final project that I pretty much fell off the earth. Thank you for sticking around! I wanted to get back to basics and work on September Dailies this month as a way to ease out of the program. 

Our graduating class was 6 folks (including myself) and we all are so tight-knit and cohesive as a group that we’ve decided to form a comics collective and keep working together. My heart is just full and hopeful and excited for the next few months with them.
