________________ AUTOPSY REPORT ________________
CAUSE OF DEATH:Accidental overdose on prescribed medication
Date of Death: December 31, 1999
As a child, Alex always had an affinity for food, whether it was for baking or for cooking. He loved it. As a little child, he would help his mother in the kitchen and his father in the family-owned bakery, and they were a fairly happy family.
He was an average student in school. He never got stellar grades and never had stellar friends. He kept his own tight-knit group of friends, which sadly fell apart when everybody went to college, and he stayed home to help in the bakery.
River’s Baked Goods was always a town favorite, but had its falls several times. When Alex was in his teens, his father died, and his mother, trying to take care of three children at once, was unable to run the bakery. When Alex left school, he took over the shop, and got it back on its feet for the next five years. However, Alex himself had his ups and downs, and in his second year out of High School, he was admitted to the psychiatric ward and was given medicine for an anxiety disorder. All was well after he came back to town. Once again, he managed to revive the bakery with the help of his siblings (a younger brother and a younger sister), and for the next three years, business was booming.
One night, on the eve of the turn of the milennia, Alex was feeling unusual, and his anxiety started peaking after several drinks he was not supposed to have. Unsure of whether he had taken his medication, he returned home during a party and started gulping pills, forgetting that seconds beforehand he had taken them already. Eventually, he was found on the kitchen floor with foam coming from his mouth. He died two minutes before midnight, and the bakery was shut.
Date of Return: December 19, 2015
Alex returned to the world of the living fifteen years later, unaware that anything had changed. The massive headache he experienced when he woke up in his old apartment was believed to simply be a hangover, and the burning feeling in his throat was theorized as a result of throwing up the alcohol of the previous night. He didn’t give a second thought to the fact that the apartment was void of furniture that had been replaced by spiderwebs and dust. He went back to the bakery the next morning only to find that it has been closed and barred. Only when he saw strange cars swooshing by did he realize that he had missed not only the turn of the milennia, but a whole decade and a half in which everybody had already moved on. He is trying to get back on his feet, but swallowing pills is hard for him, and how long can he go with his panic attacks coming back?
