Emmerdale star Danny Miller confirms permanent return for Aaron Dingle

Emmerdale has brought Aaron Dingle back to the show in a surprising storyline twist.

Monday's episode (October 9) revealed that Aaron is the mystery character who's being held captive by Cain Dingle and Caleb Miligan at Wylie's Farm.

Cain and Caleb have brought Aaron home from Italy after learning that he'd gone off the rails, still consumed by grief for his late sister Liv. However, with Aaron furious over their intervention, will it ultimately backfire on everyone?

The queen of Robron music, @irisnsc​, has asked me to write some Robron meta for this song which was very special to her. I didn’t know the song before and I love it now, so I wanna thank you for this, Iris. But even more so, I love that you would trust me with writing about something that means so much to you. Thank you, you beautiful lady! <3 The song in question is Zayn’s There You Are (vid at the end of this post, since any attempt to include it elsewhere meant Tumblr ate some of the post’s text. Once again, good job, Tumblr). When I listened to it, knowing Iris said it was so special as a Robron song, my mind was already geared towards understanding why this one meant so much more than others. Just a few seconds into it and the answer was pretty self-evident. So let me try and break it all down. I’ll start by saying that to me, even musically, the intro to the song already reflects some of Robron’s progression towards being a couple. The first time we hear Zayn singing, it ghosts in, unlike the lyrics that will follow later. It gives those first introductory lines this sense of being a presence that is not yet fully itself and yet already has a haunting quality that makes you feel, one you don’t want to draw yourself away from. That made me think of pre-affair era, and just how present Aaron and Robert were for each other already, how much they influenced each other, even when they were not yet supposed to be anything in particular for the other person. Just think of how much Aaron can get Robert to want to be seen and understood during the Home Farm break in, how much he himself is moved to action when Robert wants Chrissie’s ring back. They already mean to each other more than they’re supposed to if their interactions were to be taken at face value. It’s like underneath the surface, they’re already touching each other’s souls, changing the other man in a way neither one will ever recover from. And that’s exactly the feeling that the intro gives me, like you’re swimming and underneath the surface, you’re hearing sounds traveling to meet you in unexpected ways. And then there’s the fact that the lyrics are just spot on for them.

Let’s look at even just the first line alone… Only you know me the way you know me I mean, freaking hell, this is exactly it, that’s the theme for Robron getting together. Even before they sleep together once, even before they finally connect lips like they’ve been longing to since they first saw each other, Aaron already knows Robert better than anyone else in his life, including Rob’s family, who don’t know of his bisexuality, and Chrissie, who has no clue that Robert is behind the robbery at Home Farm nor does she have any inkling WHY he’s behind it, what compelled him emotionally (wrongly, but to Aaron, understandably) to do something so stupid. That theme is explicitly present from the moment Chrissie says she knows Robert better than anyone and that’s the way it should be between life partners, but Rob and we viewers know that Aaron already, in a much shorter time, knows Robert better than she does. I’m not taking away anything from Robron’s crazy, immediate intense sexual attraction to each other, but let’s be real, their hooking up was always meant to be because it was always about more than just sex and their physical attraction was only a reflection to them seeing each other for who they are and developing intense feelings for what they see, warts and all. Because they see beneath the surface. How many men would see someone arranging for his in-laws’ property to be stolen and continue to put their emotional well being in that person’s hands? But Aaron sees that Robert isn’t just a heartless bully. How many people would see a guy who is grumpy and rude, and willing to commit robbery, first of a car, then of HF and feel the need to lay out their emotional vulnerabilities to that man? But Robert gets that Aaron isn’t just some common thief and he does, he wants to be known, to be understood and accepted, not just by anyone (he’s never been that honest about himself with Vic and Diane, not before and not even after. Robert Sugden is a more closed off character than you’d realize if you only watched his relationship with Aaron), but by this gruff mechanic specifically. Only you know me.

Hey :) So you know you post the deleted scenes to your channel in the correct spots on your channel, well I was doing a rewatch and I noticed that you didn't put in the deleted scene from Friday 16 March 2018 labelled as "Listen To Your Family" on the Emmerdale YT channel. I wasn't sure if that was deliberate or if you just missed it when it was posted?

It’s only deliberate in that I haven’t been able to get it to download. I’ve tried several different ways and it never works properly. :(

ROBRON AWARDS 2018: Best parallel A huge thank you to @aaron-fan for making the gifsets for all of my votes! <333 There are so many parallels I love about Robron’s epic tale and I adore that we get the guys themselves acknowledging the parallels in their story (like when they returned to the garage for wedding 1.0 and to their lay by for proposal 2.0). Since I can only choose one set of parallels to highlight, I would choose those of the Christmas episode, because they all coexisted within the same episode. It turned them from being an added later of subtext to the story into being the story itself. Especially the ones between Robert’s dream and reality were meant to tell us, “yo, listen up here, shit’s about to get real”. These parallels made us pay closer attention during the episode and kept us talking about the Xmas theory for months on because they did contain hints for what was to come. Special shout out to Aaron begging Robert to live. Because I’m an incurable romantic. And so’s Robert TBH, he then proceeded to do exactly what Aaron was asking of him, both in recovering from the accident and in choosing to stop with his destructive behavior, realizing it inevitably leads to self-destruction, quite possibly by actual suicide. But then if you look at the last row of the gifset, it’s dedicated to the parallels between Robert and Aaron themselves, where their images fade into each other and one’s bad physical state melts into the other’s. Even physically hurt, his system inebriated and being broken up for months at that point, in Robert’s subconscious, he and Aaron are still one. They will always share one fate, whether they are together or not. That’s why he has to become a better man, no longer just for the sake of being with Aaron. That no matter what, in his psyche, the two of them are soulmates and interlinked, that is in a nutshell why I can’t help but ship these two morons.

ROBRON AWARDS 2018: Best kiss A huge thank you to @aaron-fan for making the gifsets for all of my votes! <333 My first thought at this category was - WHAT THE HELL, HOW DO I CHOOSE JUST ONE!? And TBH, with some categories, that was my final thought too, so I may not vote for all categories. But then I thought about why I had such difficulty choosing between the kisses, they’ve had such great ones from reunion 2.0 on, and I realized it’s because so many of them were so essential to key moments of the relationship progression. So how do you choose which is the best? It’s almost impossible! I say almost, because that actually gave me the answer: this is my fave kiss since they got back together because it served no plot purpose at all. No reunion tears were shed, no speeches were made, no proposals or vows were exchanged, no mornings after were celebrated, so as much as I love all of those and think they’re both amazing and essential, this is the best. Because it’s just them, wanting each other, being grossly in love during just an ordinary day of absolutely no drama, constantly craving each other even though the routine of daily life, spending the whole night being wild and ruining unsuspecting hotel rooms, possibly traumatizing a random hotel maid or two, and still, STILL, wanting more and not being done ‘being thanked’. I HEART. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t need this on screen constantly, but every once in a while, this type of seemingly gratuitous physical affection between them, I think it’s vital. Because a part of how they expressed their feelings for each other when they were falling in love was physically. So it’s good to have, here and there, confirmation that that is still there not just during the big moments, that even as they change and grow with time, they have not lost that part of the essence that is Robron.

I guess it had to be this one because at the very core of it, this was the family unit that was broken up when Robert and Aaron split up. There were other relationships as well, like Robert and Chas, that fell apart… But whenever Robron talked about being a proper little family before, this is what they meant. This is what they lost. This is what they earned back. So I adored this hug and I LOVED how Rob’s hands (beyond being all sorts of UNF, seriously why do we not have a BEST ROBERT HANDS and BEST AARON CHEST categories?) encompassing them all and holding them together was so symbolic. Rather than to have them exchange separate hugs or the kind of group hug that friends would have, where each person still has a measure of personal space, they had this, where they are all practically fitting back into each other physically, like pieces of one beautiful family puzzle.

ROBRON AWARDS 2018: Most underrated scene A huge thank you to @aaron-fan for making the gifsets for all of my votes! <333 By ‘most underrated scene’, I don’t necessarily mean by us. I think this is the most criminally underrated scene by the show itself. It was so vital IMO to the Valentine’s episode. This is the episode that really builds up to reunion 2.0 so it is an incredibly important one in setting up where Aaron and Robert are. All of the interactions in this ep matter and this scene is no different, so I will never understand why they chose to cut it out. The scene doesn’t just include Aaron and Robert actually eating together the meal that they had previously prepared together (LBR, that Robert prepared while Aaron enjoyed Rob’s gorgeousness, face, body and those goddamn hands), it also shows them having fun together, but most importantly, it flips their dynamics. Aaron is the cocky bastard who brings sex up confidently, while Robert is the one left flustered. It also brings up their insane connection on every level, physical too, and is a vivid reminder of just how good they are when they’re together. It’s everything that’s undeniable about Robron and I love it and this scene. Given the chance, I will hunt down whoever chose to cut it out.
