Another piece that I don’t know anything about the artist Richard Hill. This is the closest to the original work. It’s an Artist Proof #28 out of 30. It is still considered an original. I’m not complaining. Found this piece at the Arc Thrift Store.

My favorite style of art. I tried to stay out of the photos but I was reflecting off the glass. Found these at my local Arc Thrift Store. There is art for everyone. I collect all kinds as long as it is good art. It’s amazing to think that I have the only one on planet earth. I wish I knew something about the artist. It makes it more meaningful.
At my Mom’s house. Not an original painting, but it’s an original print that’s signed and numbered. I like the architecture and statue sized by the onlooker. Found this piece at the Goodwill.
At my Mother’s home. I found all of her wall art at various thrift stores for next to nothing. I can’t go too much into detail on the artists because I don’t know much or anything about them. But the artwork is magnificent and I can speak on their work. This untitled piece is by James Thorpe. The medium used is oil on canvas. The theme is Movement and Balance. You see movement particularly in the water splashing where the white color pops right out. The horses themselves show movement. There is quite a bit of balance overall in the painting. Where are the horses going? There eyes are all facing in the same direction. “The other side”. This can be a very spiritual or religious meaning. Horses symbolize the natural wild side in nature. Horses also resemble the Archetype and Greek God Poseidon. Poseidon resides in the depths of the devowering sea. Poseidon doesn’t follow the rules. Do you know someone that fits this description? The sea is also known as the subconscious. Here is the kicker: If the water represents the subconsious. The trees and shore represent the boundary between the conscious and subconscious . The air and clouds resemble consciousness. Then the horses also resemble balance. So you revealed the meaning and message by how the horses are positioned, the details of their surroundings, and you can also interpret this on a spiritual level. It’s the path that one takes throughout life to reach the ultimate goal. The horses resemble our soul chariot and moving forward down that path. Since there are many, it’s collectively. Overall, this painting resembles the process of achieving one’s greater Self or becoming a balanced being. Don’t even get me started on the colors. I will say this though, white resembles the learning part of your life. You are brewing, churning and becoming a better person. I’ll go over colors and alchemy more when it is the theme of a piece. Let me know what you think. Again, there are no wrong answers.
. Tip # 3) If you don’t know symbolism, Greek Mythology or Alchemy, can go the round about way and look to nature. Horses are wild and free naturally.

Nice photo of someones art. These are all archtypes. Symbols in our dreams and consiousness. They either give an awe or awful factor. Original photo by eclecticpandas - their photography blog
When I saw this at the Goodwill I passed by it twice. I thought that I should get it even if is not and original and just a print. I liked it. It was different and came with a good frame. I purchased it for $4.99. When I took it outside, the sun revealed the very slight cracking in the paint. It is an original titled “Bird 2” painted and signed by Edgar Britton himself (1901-1982). This one is on my wall permanently. Sometimes I wonder how it ended up at the Goodwill.
Tip # 2) Try not to be picky when choosing good art. I usually fall in love with it when I take it home and research it more or figuring out what it means. You win some then lose some. I have an eclectic taste. I assure you several different types of artwork can look great together. There should be some sort of connection between the art pieces. Some people like to keep the same frames or themes. I go for a similar color scheme. It’s as simple as that. Someday I’ll have an art wall but it takes a lot of planning. Is there a thrift store find that was a success for you?
I feel honored and privileged to have found these two gorgeous original paintings to call my own. I found them at the Goodwill for $6.99 each. Not that it matters much, but they are worth much more than what I paid. That is not all. It is my kind of art. The photos do not do it justice though. The artist William “Billy” Megargel lives with Autism. He utilizes a number of kitchen utensils for different textures and effects. His talented work is his depiction of life as he sees it. I see him looking at people blocked by a fog. There is loud noise and chaos everywhere. There is a lot of frustration and loneliness. It is so painful. What do you see? Feel free to post and express yourself. Tip # 1: Be open to what you see in front of you and just take it all in. Most people do not know what to look for. You can determine if you are looking at a good or Fine Art piece if you can figure out a theme. Once you have confirmed that theme, it will lead you to find out the meaning. It will help you figure out what the artist wants you to know, how they feel or something about themselves. It can also say something about yourself. The beauty of Contemporary Art is that there are no right or wrong answers. Hint: The themes in these two paintings can be color, rhythm or movement. I will cover each theme as I post art pieces if applicable.
