Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله said:
“Whoever contemplates [tadabbur] upon the Qur’an [with the condition] of seeking guidance from it, [then] the path of truth will be made clear.”

“Don't let inner sorrow overtake you, or the temptations of this world seize you. Go, day and night, and pour the drink of love in your mouth— before the final edict of truth closes your lips for good.”
— Rumi, from The Gift of Rumi | Translated by Emily Jane O'Dell
"Spiritual advancement is the rising of the consciousness so that it may expand to perfection. Therefore, it is a constant effort to look at a wider sphere. In this manner, a person, without learning to be spiritual, will become spiritual. Their outlook on life will become different. The little things which people take to heart will seem of no importance to them. The things in which people become confused will become clear to them. That which matters so much to everyone will mean nothing to them. Many things which frighten and horrify people will not have the same effect on them. Disappointments and failures will not take away their hope and courage. Their thoughts, words, and deeds, as well as their sight, become wide. Therefore, all they say or do will be different. That which we call nobility, that natural nobility which belongs to the soul, will flourish. For spiritual realization does not consist in making life a puzzle for oneself, but in solving the problem of life by realizing spirituality."
Hazrat Inayat Khan, September 1924
One sees so many faults in humanity. But those who affirm love for God, or friendship with angels, are often deluded. The scriptures posit love for humankind, and this is one of the bases of Sufism. Metaphysical knowledge without such an expanded heart is useless, has always been declared useless by the wise, and yet has been sought by the unwise in all times.
— Murshid Samuel Lewis
