കവികൾക്കെന്നും വർണ്ണനയാണായുധം.അവർ വർണ്ണിക്കുന്നു പ്രണയത്തെ,ഉപമിക്കുന്നു പ്രണയത്തെ. പക്ഷേ അവർ പ്രണയിക്കുന്നത്‌ അവരുടെ പ്രണയ പാത്രത്തെയല്ല.അവരാ പ്രണയത്തിൽ ചാലിച്ചെഴുതിയ വാക്കുകളെ പ്രണയിക്കുകയാണു.
