My final piece in response to my FMP: Environment, Experience & Encounters.
LINC-CON! 1.10.16
During my time documenting Cardiff I came across this scene which seemed emotive due to feelings of loneliness. It is edited in the style of The Girl in the Red Coat.
Documenting Cardiff 23.10.16
This is my final cinemagraph which I think fits the brief of being “vibrant and dynamic”. You will notice that it’s the same scene as my previous cinemagraph but zoomed out and more central which has the effect of giving a glimpse of the highstreet and a clear view of the architecture that the city is built around. I also used the same scene because I thought that it would be more effective to capture subtle movements as this part of the city is sectioned off from the high street such as; reflections of people, and the flow of water. For these reasons, I think that this cinemagraph meets the requirement of being dynamic. Furthermore, the composure of this cinemagraph introduces vibrancy because there is more to see and therefore more colour is introduced in the frame which is significant as vibrancy is a feature my previous cinemagraph lacked.
This is my fourth attempt at creating a cinemagraph for my college work. I feel that this is an improvement in comparison to the previous cinemagraph because it involves more interesting, captured movements which also fits the brief of being dynamic. Furthermore, it could be argued as appealing to tourism because of the tudor architecture being in the frame and some of the inhabitants. Overall, the only downside to this cinemagraph is that it doesn’t fit the other side of the brief because it lacks vibrancy.
Unit 5 also required the use of combination printing in order to create a perfect exposure, which was used by pioneering photographers such as; Henry Peach Robinson and Gustave Le Gray. Using the window as the only source of light, the aim was to show focus indoors and outside the window. I think that this image is successful due to the amount of detail shown in the background which emphasises focus shown on the outside. :)
As part of my Unit 5 brief, we had to illuminate objects using light painting. I chose this image for my final because not only does the light trail bring the image forward, but it also reflects off the object making it more visible in the process. :)
Because of my previous unsuccessful cinemagraph, I decided to try capture more subtle movements. Whilst researching other subtle cinemagraphs I found i liked the ones which focused on water moving. I think that this is an improvement in terms of looping, however I realise that this may not fit the brief of vibrant and dynamic.
This was taken during the Lincoln University Graduation held at the Cathedral. I felt that this was relevant to the project of promoting tourism to Lincoln as it is one of the city’s biggest celebrations. Furthermore it is something to be proud of. Overall, I like the focal point of the cinemagraph it shows importance, however in my opinion this image loops poorly.
Another attempt at a cinemagraph…
Improved version of cinemagraph with corrections made on the bottom and higher quality. I much prefer this version! :)
1st cinemagraph attempt! A difficult process with a mistake on the bottom of the image, however overall I’m pleased with how it went. :)
This is my second final image as a result of Client Project: Part One. Like the previous image my aim was to make the glasses look interesting through colour. I accomplished this by mixing different food colouring in the water.
These images are the result of Client Project: Part Two. The aim for this project was to create 2 album covers based on a chosen band/solo artist. I had chosen ‘The Who’. I prefer the first image because it looks more professional, however the second image includes the mod target which is an iconic symbol of the band.
This was one of my final images from Client Project: Part One. The aim of this image was to make the wine glasses look visually interesting through use of colour.
