I haven't really experimented much with it (I have gender dysphoria and that makes it hard to write things with female/female aligned characters inspite of being a wlw myself) but it's good? I guess? I don't have any specific headcanons sorry

my lactation headcanons center around my OC Ce and they're p sad lmao. because it hurts to milk himself and he has a lot of body-related trauma, and specifically around his ability to care for children? he grew up in a fucked up orphanage-ish place that threw out children once they were 5/6 years old, unless they could care for the other kids. and since Ce could feed them, he was made to do so as soon as he hit puberty, which is just way too young. his body was barely ready for pre-heat at that point, let alone bonding and caring for multiple children. and when the bonds broke, he didn't have any support to get him through that pain, so it fucks him to hell.

Headcanon! Since male omegas have smaller breasts than females, they don't have enough space for the same quantity of milk. But, actually, they produce the same amount. Because of this, male omegas have to breastfeed their pups more often than female omegas, feeding them less in each time.

Why would a pack of Betas need an Omega? They wouldn't need Omegas for reproduction nor to settle discussions so why wouldn't a pack of only Betas work?

betas and omegas tend to be fairly close. it's not healthy for an omega to only have relationships with alphas–it fucks them up a little. also, omegas need other people to be close to each other–they draw strength from stable relationships in their pack, and a happy omega stabilises a pack a lot. betas can survive without omegas, but not the other way around

Ok but I think my absolute favorite headcanon in omegaverse is the idea that omegas will purr when they’re happy. Like isn’t that the cutest fucking thing ever?

Imagine a passed out omega all wrapped up in their mate’s arms and purring up a storm.

Imagine pregnant omegas happily purring as they put their nest together because they finally found the perfect spot for that pillow they had been eyeing for the past hour.

Imagine sleepy omega pups scenting their parents and purring weakly as they drift off to sleep in their alpha father’s arms.

- Stressed/Panicked Omega calming down when enveloped in comforting alpha arms, their ear ear pressed to a firm chest with vibrations and purring.

- Alphas grounding themselves when around an Omega in heat by purring to themselves.

- Alphas purring when they get head/back rubs or scratches.

How do people ‘mark’ their partner in your Verse? Do people wear wedding rings? Collars? Bite marks/Bond marks? Bracelets or other form of jewelry?

homodynamic relationships have rings add symbols of commitment. most of the time rings signify pack bonds. pack rings tend to be flashy and complex–patterned, jeweled, insignia-d. bond rings are simpler.

alphas/omega relationships have the alpha wearing a bracelet and the omega a necklace. some couples choose to collar their omegas, with the matching bracelet for the alpha optional.

(like, two of my OCs have a relationship where the omega wears a collar but the alpha doesn't wear anything, to highlight the imbalance of power between them. it's entirely their choice, though, and a lot of couples don't do this)

omegas in relationships with other omegas often go for matching necklaces or collars to signify mutual ownership and submission. it's also a way to avoid awkward questions about whether they have an alpha.

How does ‘presenting’ work in your verse? Is it known in the womb? At birth? During or after puberty? Is it wholly biological or is there a personality aspect?

I haven't thought much about this somehow. I think it's one of those everybody knows but nobody talks about things in my verse. children tend to be dynamic neutral, but omegas start to have pre-heats around puberty. teenaged betas form pseudo packs with their close friends, and alphas start to get more aggressive.

around this age, a healthy, well-adjusted omega should have a beta pack to fall back on as well as a few alpha friends. alphas should be learning what's appropriate for them as the dominant class.

I've shared headcanons about my personal verse here before, but have some more :D

poly and homodynamic relationships are super common. my main couple for this verse is a dominant alpha and an omega switch, and the omega tends to play around with people outside their relationship too.

female alphas can't lactate for too long, so they need to hire omegas to feed their children. the omega ability to bond with children is pretty useful to working alpha moms but it does also contribute to a lot of gross stereotypes about omegas.

(I've long had a story idea floating around about two married alphas who hire an omega to care of their kids. the omega falls in love with the couple and spends a lot of time pining after them, while the couple have long been considering bringing an omega into their relationship and would love to have him in their beds. it's very angsty. I'm not sorry. mutual pining + kid!fic + angst is a jam)

male omegas are infertile and are often called sluts or worse because people assume that they'll have loads of sex because they can't get pregnant. which isn't too say that female omegas don't have bad too, it's a different kind of bad.

betas don't feature too strongly into my headcanons, for some reason. I think the main reason I like a/b/o is the power dynamics, and there just aren't that many with betas. although,

story idea: a beta/omega couple; the omega has fuckloads of trauma wrt to alphas and now won't date them at all. their beta partner is a stay-at-home type, while the omega works as a lawyer.

not being fucked through a heat is traumatic for any omega forced to do it. some choose to be alone anyway, which...doesn't really help. but even something like a smell-thick nest or their alpha's voice can tide them over safely.

(story idea #1 definitely has the omega spending a few heats alone before the couple finds out and is duly horrified and lends him clothes to build a nest.)

shifter!verse headcanons

packs can be anywhere between 2-40 members. older packs tend to have more.

packs can only have one head alpha. any other alpha in the pack needs to be extremely submissive towards that alpha. some of them can do it and some of them are happy with it, but a lot tend to leave and start their own pack.

omegas & alphas can survive on their own, with varying degrees of success and happiness. betas need a pack.

lone alphas are not uncommon, but they aren't unheard of either. they're stable and safe to be around, although the longer they've been alone the more protective they are of any nearby omega.

lone omegas suffer badly for the lack of a pack and an alpha. their strength is tied deeply to the people around them, and without that they can sink into depressions and become susceptible to harm. but they can survive on their own if they take precautions.

most omegas have magic. it's tied to their pack and alpha, but it helps keep them safe when they're alone too.

a pack isn't a pack without an omega. you can have any number of betas or alphas (or only alphas or only betas) but packs need omegas.

doesn't stop a lot of them from being shitty towards omegas though :/
