Attention, HootOwls! Iâm working on something for @adamyoungofficial and I could use your help!
A new remix by me! Dan Bullâs song âRobocopyrightâ is all about the dangers of Article 13. If you like it, you can download my remix for free here: https://soundcloud.com/rico-robbins/robocopyright-remix
You have NO idea how much I loved this show growing up. Iâm autistic, and Zoom was my obsessive interest in fourth grade. I wanted to be on it, but then they cancelled it. So I spammed WGBH (the PBS station that produced the show) with hundreds of emails asking them to not cancel it. Eventually, I got an email from a producer on Zoom saying that it was close to her heart as well, and that although Zoom was cancelled, they were working on a new show similar to Zoom called Fetch! With Ruff Ruffman, that was going to start airing in a few weeks. I loved that show as well. This story even later became inspiration for a song of mine called Boston (as thatâs where it was filmed). Uband dubid Ubi mubentubion thubat Ubi cuban stubill spubeak Ububbubi Dububbubi?
The internet could change next week, and not in a good way
You may have heard about the efforts in Europe to reform copyright law. The debate has been ongoing in the European Parliament for months. If approved next week, these new regulations would require us to automatically filter and block content that you upload without meaningful consideration of your right to free expression.Â
We respect the copyrights and trademarks of others, and we take all reports seriously to ensure that your creative expression is protected. We make this clear in our Community Guidelines. Thereâs already a legal framework that works and is fair: Today we take down posts and media that contain allegedly infringing content when we receive a valid DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) takedown request. We also provide clear-cut ways for people to fight back if they believe their removed content was not a true violation. These instances are monitored and reported and live in our biannual transparency report.Â
The suggestion to use automated filters for issues of copyright is short-sighted at best and harmful at worst. Automated filters are unable to determine whether a use should be considered âfair useâ under the law and are unable to determine whether a use is authorized by a license agreement. They are unable to distinguish legitimate parody, satire, or even your own personal pictures that could be matched with similar photographs that have been protected by someone else. We donât believe that technology should replace human judgment. Tumblr is and always has been a place for creative expression, and these new regulations would only make it harder for you to express yourself with the freedom and clarity you do so now.Â
If you access Tumblr from Europe and want to act, you can find more information on saveyourinternet.eu.Â

Friendly reminder that this hell site is owned by Yahoo, a company who are now actively advocating for the death of Net Neutrality.
Friendly fucking reminder that the site is actively forcing users to unfollow the net neutrality tag after 20 or so minutes of following it.
Friendly reminder that this site is now actively trying to limit our ability to share information and spread awareness.
This is the next move to restore net neutrality
If it feels like youâre fighting battles on every side, youâre not alone. The struggle is terrifyingly real. But we can still make this year the best possible version of 2018 it can be. Thereâs a new opportunity in to restore strong net neutrality protections: The Congressional Review Act.
What is the Congressional Review Act?
The CRA lets the House and Senate repeal administrative lawsârules and regulations set by governmental agenciesâwith a simple majority in both houses. The resolutions canât be blocked by leadership, amended, or filibustered.
This congress has used the CRA more than any other to overturn regulations that protect vulnerable people and the environment, but this time we can use it for a good purposeâto reverse the FCCâs decision and restore net neutrality.
We just need #OneMoreVote
Battle For The Net has secured commitments from 50 senators. One more and we can take this fight to the House. These are the targets:
John Kennedy (Louisiana) | 202-224-4623 | Email
John McCain (Arizona) | 202-224-2235 | Email
Orrin Hatch (Utah) | 202-224-5251 | Email
Dean Heller (Nevada) | 202-224-6244 | Email
If you live in these states, we need you. Even if you donât, you can still help the cause.
Go to battleforthenet.com to write or call your representatives.
Tell them to support the âResolution of Disapprovalâ and overturn the FCCâs December 14 âRestoring Internet Freedomâ vote.Â
Net Neutrality is Dead and You Can Expect Your Internet to Change on April 23rd
Yeah, no, Iâm cross-tagging because the lack of attention this is getting overall is pissing me off.
Ajit Pai killed Net Neutrality. Youâll start seeing the effects you were warned about on April 23rd. Oh, and he apparently got an award for Courage from the NRA gun nuts, too.
You can still help by calling your senators and representatives. We just need ONE MORE PERSON on our side to get the senate portion of Congress to overrule the FCCâs decision to kill net neutrality. The battle for the net wonât end there, but itâs a start. Go to battleforthenet to find out who your reps are and where they stand, and CONTACT THEM.
Twenty-three states are also suing the FCC for this. I havenât looked into it yet, but I assume big businesses like Google and Amazon are as well. Nevertheless, we canât rely on lengthy lawsuits alone. The changes to your internet start in less than two months. We donât have a whole lot of time.
Blow this up. Contact your reps. Please, do something! We HAVE to get the decision overruled!
Hoping to spread this to everyone here, sorry for tagging so many peopleÂ

Save the Internet!
Itâs very likely that on Dec. 14th the FCC will vote to get rid of Net Neutrality. But we canât let the Internet go down without a fight! It is possible that a net neutrality bill could be created and codified into law via Congress. But this would require Congress to work together, so keep contacting your representatives even after the vote!
Weâll most likely see a lot of lawsuits in favor of Net Neutrality if the FCC votes against it. Common Cause, Free Press, the Internet Association, and Public Knowledge are four groups that already have lawyers at the ready. They need our support!! You can find ways to fight the FCC via their websites and so many others. Letâs keep the internet free and open!!! (Source)

Once more for old timeâs sake
đ„ With your help, we passed Title II net neutrality protections. Now we need to defend it.đ„
On December 14 the FCC will vote on Commissioner Paiâs plan to repeal Title II rules. This week he tried to justify that decision with a âmyth bustingâ explainer where he makes a lot of sweeping claims he doesnât think youâll fact check.Â
So letâs go through his big points:
â Mr. Pai claims ISPs wonât block access or throttle content
These are the real facts. Before Title II, the internet was so âfree and openâ thatâŠÂ
Comcast blocked P2P file sharing services (EFF).
AT&T blocked Skype from iPhones (Fortune) and, later, wanted FaceTime users to pay for a more expensive plan (Freepress).
MetroPCS blocked all streaming video except YouTube (Wired).
In todayâs media market where the same huge companies make and deliver content, Commissioner Pai wants us to trust that corporations wonât use their dominance to bury competitive content or services.Â
â Mr. Pai claims Title II keeps ISPs from building new networks
Hereâs another claim Commissioner Pai doesnât want you to fact check, but:
AT&Tâs own CEO told investors that the company would deploy more fiber optic networks in 2016 than 2015 when the FCC passed Title II protections (Investor call transcript).Â
Charterâs CEO said âTitle II, it didnât really hurt us; it hasnât hurt usâ (Ars Technica). Â
And Comcast actually increased investment in their network by 10% in Q1 of this year (Ars).Â
â Mr. Pai claims repealing Title II wonât hurt competition
As we mentioned above, ISPs tried to interfere with the services their customers could access and courts had to step in to stop them.
The FCC tried to craft net neutrality rules in 2010 called the Open Internet Order but the ISPs sued and won. The courts told the FCC that the only way to guarantee a free and open internet was using their Title II authority. Without those protections, any of these things would be legal:
Your ISP launches a streaming video service and starts throttling other streaming services until theyâre unusable.
Your phone company cuts a deal with a popular music streaming service so it doesnât count towards your data cap but lowers your overall data limit. If a better service comes along (or your favorite artist releases new tracks somewhere else) you canât use it without incurring huge data fees.
A billionaire buys your ISP and blocks access to news sites that challenge their ideology.Â
Repealing Title II would be like letting a car company own the roads and banning a competitor from the highways.
â Mr. Pai claims there wonât be fast lanes and slow lanes
Letâs break this down: We wonât have fast lanes and slow lanes, weâll have âpriority accessâ andâŠnon-priority access? Well gosh.
đš Please help us protect Title II one more time! đš
This week we co-signed a letter with more than 300 other companiesâbusinesses Mr. Pai gleefully ignoresâurging the FCC to retain the Title II internet protections. Now we need you.
Go to đ Battle For The Net đ to start a call with your representatives in Congress. Tell them to publicly support Title II protections.Â
The FCC votes on December 14.
Weâre only powerful when we work together.
Oh, also: that post about automatically unfollowing the #net neutrality tagâitâs not true. Itâs really not. Thatâs not who we are. Whatever happened, we havenât been able to reproduce it. We tried. A lot.
But if it were trueâwhich itâs not, we feel compelled to say againâTHATâS EXACTLY WHY YOU SHOULD CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES and demand a free, open, and neutral internet.
We can do this one more time, guys! â€ïž
So @staff was not sold out following Yahooâs acquisition by Verizon?
Yup im talking about thisâŠ
NET NEUTRALITY!
WE NEED TO SPEAK UP!
JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE SAYS,
If we donât speak upâŠ

SO PUT #netneutrality and reblog!
WE HAVE UNTIL DECEMBER 14TH!
