Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, 11x14
“Trans women have so much media representation!” Ah yes, who can forget all our magnificent representation like the antagonist of Sleep Away Camp, the antagonist of Dressed to Kill, the antagonist of Soapdish, the antagonist of Ace Ventura, or our representation of how disturbing srs is in The Assignment, or our representation in Naked Gun 33 1/3 when Tanya is revealed to have a penis and Frank is horrified and runs away, or our representation in Family Guy how sex with a trans woman is responded to with vomiting, or our representation in South Park from “Janet” Garrison.
The real thing with ADHD is not "I forgot", but that forgetting is this ongoing process. I remembered! And then I forgot.
At ten this (hypothetical) morning I remembered that I have a meeting at six. And then from 11 through 3 I worked on other stuff and had zero thoughts about that meeting. Maybe even thought about what I was gonna do with my evening at home. Got attached to the idea of taking the time to make a good dinner, maybe play some video games.
And then at three I said, "Oh! Fuck!" and remembered again, hopefully long enough to set an alarm. And then I went to the bathroom and remembered that I need to clean the counter and spent twenty minutes cleaning the bathroom and went to get a snack and then at five I said, "OH! FUCK!" and had to scramble to dress like a real adult and get out the door.
It isn't one clean forgetting. It's a constant process of forgetting and then, with an exhausting adrenaline spike, remembering. And then forgetting. Baby, I can forget the same thing more times in a day than you ever forgot your parents' anniversary.

you cannot claim to support jews and think that every israeli should die btw
actually hold on very important addition from the tags
Also: there are Black and Brown Ashkenazim! There are Mizrahim and Sephardim who look “white”! Traditions of Jewish ethnic and tribal affiliation and inheritance do not map neatly onto the blood-quantum-influenced cultural frameworks that Americans and other western cultures apply to concepts of race and ethnicity!
Definitely don't think they should all die, but definitely think they should STOP thinking all Palestinians should die?? You sound really sympathetic for the people committing a genocide right now.
There are several groups in and around me that are literally "Jews for Palestinian Liberation", "Jewish Voice for Peace Boston".
I go to pro-Palestine standouts, we have several Jewish members. One random Jewish Zionist guy keeps getting in our faces with his phone asking about Hamas and I'm like dude we're literally just here because children are being bombed and starved. And he keeps harassing us trying to get us mad at him so he can record it and post it. Respectfully, I don't care much about Hamas.
I CARE ABOUT BOMBING CHILDREN.
CHILDREN.
INNOCENT PEOPLE AND CHILDREN. Genocide. Call it what it is.
No civilization should be brutally murdering another, period.
The isreali people are not committing a genocide - Benjamin Netanyahu is.
Also to say you don't care about Hamas is insane. HAMAS wants to commit genocide against the isrealis, and if you don't understand the history of Jews in the middle east, and the genocides against them, you'll never understand why this conflict is as extreme as it is, because isrealis don't want to kill all Palestinians, they want secure borders that aren't being threatened by Iran-backed terrorist groups who want to genocide them. Hamas is also killing Palestinians and using them as human shields against Isreal. Are isreali children not also innocent children??
I'm sympathetic to the isreali people (who DONT THINK all Palestinians should die btw- thats fucking antisemetic BS) because they've been fleeing genocide for generations, but because of antisemitism, Isreal is described as "colonizers" instead of what they actually are: REFUGEES. And leftists in America would rather side with or "not care" about a terrorist organization hellbent on genociding the last safe haven for middle eastern Jews, than have any sympathy for the isreali people.
It would be like someone saying that any and all Americans deserve to die violently by terrorist attack for the wars the government has waged against Afghanistan. That's fucked.
Yeah but isn't he doing that because he wants to get re-elected?
I watched an interview with a former IDF soldier who said that in Israeli classrooms they teach that Palestine just isn't a real place/it's just a people who wanna take Israel land. And I know from the groups around me that obviously not everyone Jewish and/or from Israel wants all Palestinians dead, but it does seem like a decent portion in the country have been at least made to think a certain negative way about Palestinians?
Yes you are correct, I am not familiar with the whole religious history/background, my friends are more familiar with that.
And when I said I don't care about Hamas, I mean they are not what I think about or care about immediately when I think about this conflict - in my mind, I think "how can you be asking me about Hamas when children are being murdered?" If that makes more sense. Like my goal with raising awareness about this is I just want the violence to stop. And it's very one sided/one side has a huge amount of violent actions being carried out over the other.
You're right that you can't not care about them in relation to the conflict as a whole though.
And to your last point, so what you're saying is that... People are saying "fuck Israel because they think Palestine should die", but the rhetoric that says all Israelis think Palestinians should die is antisemitism BS?
Not saying you're wrong, I just haven't heard that before. Like I haven't heard anyone in my groups say that ALL of Israel is like that, but I have heard them say a lot of the country is just brainwashed. What I have heard is people accusing anyone defending Palestinians as being antisemitic.
A lot of isrealis are the victims of a collective trauma - they have been hunted and cornered in Isreal after being forcibly removed from their homes elsewhere. Hamas is a continuation of that process, of exterminating middle eastern Jews, they want to cleanse the middle east of Jews, and Isreal is the last hold out, the last place in the middle east where jews are safe. They don't want to exterminate Palestinians, they want borders that are secure and safe from Hamas and other terrorist organizations backed by middle eastern countries that want to destroy Isreal.
The reason they ask about Hamas, is because Isreal is fighting hamas, because when isreali children are dying, they're being killed by Hamas. Hamas is not freedom fighters, they are not Palestinian resistance, they are terrorists that have taken over palestine to use it as their base for fighting Isreal, and they use Palestinians as human shields.
That's why understanding the conflict - which has been going on for almost 100 years, is so important. Because you can't understand why they're fighting now if you don't understand who and how the fight started nearly a century ago.
Again, the isreali people don't want to see all Palestinians dead, they want to see hamas extinguished, they want borders that are secure from hamas and other terrorist groups whos idealogical goals include exterminating Isreal, they want to feel safe because they have been fleeing for generations. They want to make sure things like Oct 7th can't happen again.
A compilation of Israel's violations of international law since 7 Oct 2023, documenting crimes against the Palestinians. Thoroughly backed b
For four generations, the Gibson family of the Isles of Scilly documented one of the most haunting and heroic chapters of maritime history—shipwrecks.
Since the 1860s, they braved storm-lashed cliffs and roaring seas to photograph wrecks as they happened. Their images are more than records of disaster, they are powerful tributes to the resilience of island life and the unforgiving nature of the Atlantic.
From the SS Schiller to the Minnehaha, the Gibsons captured the stark reality of living on the edge, where survival often depended on courage, timing, and community. Their legacy is a remarkable visual archive of tragedy and endurance.
You can now see the Gibson family photographs on display at the Isles of Scilly Museum and in rotating exhibitions at the Royal Museums Greenwich. They remain some of the most evocative maritime images ever taken.

im talking about this here because i need to let this off my chest. but i went into a trade program for lower incomes. and today, without any warning, we were cut off. the entire program was shutdown NATIONWIDE. leaving so many people without some sort of income, or homeless, or forced to return home to abusive households that they were trying to escape. there are so many people who lost so much in ONE DAY. please understand that so many people are now left with nothing. this was a trade program for people who wanted to LEAVE POVERTY AND ENTER FIELDS WHERE THEY HAD A CHANCE!! and today it was STOLEN. and then to add insult to injury. staff members who are going to LOSE THEIR JOBS. are still stuck there for two more weeks while being forced to find something else in such a short notice. no one. and i mean NO ONE. was given a proper fair warning. please dont leave us to be forgotten.
i dont want to beat around the bush. please help if you can. these are people's lives being dangled around like they're disposable.
please contact your elected officials. post about it. call them. anything so that this isn't swept under the rug.
this current petition is currently at 202 signatures. its not a lot but each one counts. each one gives them a chance.
even if you dont like job corps. even if you never heard of it. people deserve to have a chance with this program if they want it. not have it snatched away from them and to be left with nothing. please spread the word of this at the very least.
UPDATE!!
i found another petition with over 11k signatures.
this isn't a call to stop signing one over the other!! but please, if you have the time to sign both!! please do!! fight to protect our youth. the ones who have nowhere to call home. the ones who deserve to be protect. the ones whos voices are being silenced!!
