Goose made the rest of the cast highly submissive so Jax could appear more cunning and powerful than he actually is because there’s zero reason for him to have such a strong hold on everyone. He has no power over the circus, and he’s not an incredible manipulator. Other characters also recognize that Jax is abusive, yet they’re tolerant of his behavior and offer little resistance, allowing him to do whatever he pleases.

Everyone's leniency on Jax is unrealistic because he's on equal footing with them, having no reason to tolerate him except for the sake of the plot. The same people, who stood up to Caine, the AI who controls them and the circus, never did the same to Jax, who had nowhere near the same power.

Honestly, if Goose hadn't written everyone else to be submissive, then Jax probably would've abstracted sooner because he would've actually faced consequences.

TADC and Curiousity

One thing that has always surprised me about TADC (and correct me if I'm wrong, been ages since I watched all of the episodes) is how uncurious everyone is about the world. Zooble of course makes sense and fits with their characterization, but it's weird that no one seems to want to push the world to its limits, explore around and/or push Caine more to see what would happen. You can do that and still keep the overall desire to escape as core to the story and the resulting conflict in episodes 7 and 8, but it's weird that everyone is so passive, uninterested and stagnant. Originally I thought this would be part of Pomni's role given her UrbEx background but really just she lets the plot happen to her. Humans can be very resilient and curious/inventive creatures, it feels odd that no one really cares about this and it makes the world seem smaller.
