It upsets me so incredibly much that so many people have gone to the cinema and watched the TADC finale and continued glazing the show 😭 I've been in the fandom since the pilot came out, and I am honestly saying that before episode 6th this show seemed like a damn masterpiece to me and I got so attached that I'm still not sure when I'll be able to leave the fandom. Consequentially, I am very invested in all the drama that has been happening since episode 6. I am myself a person of low tastes to be fair and I enjoy shitty endings usually, but Oh My Gosh. What the hell was this???? I am absolutely not saying that you're bad if you liked the ending but. It's just so ass.
We've had so many questions, and promised something that made VAs cry, something spectacular and completely shocking... And okay, we did get the shocking part. BECAUSE I ABSOLUTELY DID NOT EXPECT not a single plot piece aside the brain scans fact and why Ribbit abstracted.
Like... how the fuck did they get in the circus? Its kinda THE MAIN QUESTION and we got NO answer???
How did Caine come back because this was so fucking confusing?
And the best part is... that we dont know fucking ANYTHING about Pomni, the main character - aside the fact that she's an accountant and likes exploring old buildings! Nothing!!!! Not a single fucking thing!!!!!! You know why? Because every single female character was there only to show us Jax's sad little life!!!!!!!
We got Gangle, a POC queer woman, who was tortured by him every single episode and had NEVER received an apology or even a tiny bit of compassion from Jax - and was still forced by the author to somewhy show sadness about him dying. We saw him emotionally, verbally, physically abusing her; possibly sexually too (at least blackmailing and whatever was in ep 9).
We got Ragatha who had a mother that is very much implied to be far worse than Jax's, and yet somewhy SHE DOESN'T BEHAVE SO SHITTY??? HMM :))) oh and ofc she's been shown to try and help him all the time only to be dismissed, laughed at and also forced to grieve him afterwards. And when she stood up against his abuse she was despised by the fandom ok ok
We got Ribbit who just... somewhy made their whole personality cheering up Jax as soon as he arrived at the circus, and I absolutely love her concept they're the sweetest character but what the fuck you mean she was incredibly patient with jax and opened up first and saw through him (the bow scene?) and showed explicit support only for him to... what, push them away and very much consciously do it until she abstracted??? And their personality kept revolving around him even tho we saw her being close with Kaufmo abd Ragatha so she definitely could've got help but no they're just a jax character's "growth" fuel???
And im saying "growth" because Jax did not show any at all. AT. ALL. I understand that he has mental health issues. I understand that he is scared and hurt. But EVERYONE in the circus had it shitty too, and yet his mommy said some mean words to him and so he killed her and did everything he did in the circus??? EXCUSE ME??? And then we wasted half the show showing kindness to him, showing patience and forgiveness... only for him to never change, never acknowledge his actions, never apologise or even show any remorse for how he treated the cast - he just died. And everyone grieved him. And it teaches us... what, we should forgive and forget everything a mentally ill person does just because they are struggling? Im sorry what the fuck. (I have mental health conditions too in case anyone wonders so no I am not being ableist and its in fact the opposite I suggest that we take in consideration their needs but still treat them equally to other people - which means we DEMAND THEM TO TAKE THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR ACTIONS like we'd do for any other person!!!)
Oh and we have Pomni who's kinda the main character but almost every trait of hers is there to promote Jax and his whiny ass full of sufferings and guilt. This poor poor grown ass man! I fucking love you pomni before ep 7. Oh how I grieve you.
And I know about tfem Jax theory probably being canon. I understand that the dysphoria probably added to his problems. However! From what we've seen in the show *said explicitly and not with hints*, it was only about a cishetero man again and again torturing women, specifically a POC queer woman. It's about the message.
And considering everything gooseworks has said and how she turned out to be a fucking n*zi, racist, mysoginist and more... not so hard to guess how much of a self insert Jax is. Probably like. 99%. And before you come for me because I didn't acknowledge Goose's inner mysoginy because she's a trans woman and insecure about herself... Yeah no she is a public person who makes a show with HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS views. It's not just haha I hate myself and I'll vent to my friends who understand me situation!! It's translating hate for women in masses so fucking bluntly!!!!!!! You are 30 YEARS OLD YOU CAN TOTALLY JUST USE YOUR BRAIN💔💔💔
Anyways I am just really upset about the wasted potential. I would absolutely enjoy Jax's backstory being so detailed IF it didn't take up like half the finale and look so ridiculously long and unrealistic and self-insertish. Like c'mon Goose you could've at least written him more sad of a backstory cuz this one really doesn't cover his actions lmao. Just shows your lack of understanding trauma and/or experiencing it. I wish we found out more about Pomni. I wish Jax was written better and not just as a vent dump for Goose - this could've been a beautiful antagonist with actual reasons behind their actions, with openly stated transitioning and an actual Growth. I wish we got at least some answers. I wish we actually got something emotional, surprising and deep in the finale. I wish the author wasn't such a shitty person who knows what they're accused of and yet only complains and never takes responsibility for their words or apologise (I wonder who this reminds me of...!). I wish Glitch was an adequate company and that the VAs were adequate too. I love this show with my whole heart, but we were fed fucking shit in the end and it's even worse that it is being currently shown in cinemas all over the world.
