time to learn nintendo ds game development <3

basically in december 2019 the mozilla company (who run firefox) sent tumblr an email saying “hey this guy is gonna confuse people and make em think this blog is official” so they sent me an email telling me to change my username. i resisted for a bit but i gave in and changed it to unofficial for a while until may 2020 when i decided who gives a shit and i changed it back

unity sucks; use godot instead

we spent 9 hours starting this game jam in unity, here's what we learned about the engine:

don't do it

it will do different behaviour with the same code

really don't do it

and heres what we learned about godot in 2 hours:

you can get the thing actually working and more featured in a lot less time

i actually love gdscript

rust support is there but needs work

gdscript makes up for it <3

oh, and we also learned that developers like me shouldn't do art. seriously, we have an artist on the team just focus on the code lexi :p

update

gdscript is like huffing glue while using it to assemble a motor vehicle

its still better than using unity though which is quite something

we are getting some gameplay! we might actually be able to have something ready on the day :p
