「 ★ 」 ⋮ C U R S E D. ⋮ ━━ Geez … this lady … now that he was actually TALKING to her, he was quickly realizing how ANNOYING she actually was. It figures that she was part THE GUILD really. She fit right in with those awful, AWFUL people.
The girl demanded answers in such a FIERCE tone and it makes him realize just how many things about her and the Guild. Those people were just like the REST of the adults he’d met in his life; cold and ruthless with no care in the world other than their own personal gains. The very thought only deepens the uncharacteristic scowl upon his face.
But as he watches her; listens to HER WORDS carefully as she only trails off as if uncertain of what direction she should go with her words. Ironic … that made the two of them. But he was still determined to at least appear better than her ( even if he didn’t have much of a plan at all ).
’ Like … like the Guild ! Like those bad, awful people that kidnapped me before ! Those people that tried to use me to blow up the city and LAUGH the entire time because they thought it was funny ! Like that ! You’re like THAT ! You’re also an adult too and those are bad ! ’
She spoke as well, didn’t she ? But she never finished her words. WHAT did she have on her mind ?
’ Didn’t know I was what ? Why don’t YOU go on too ? It’s only fair ! ’
Everything this kid says is more and more confusing to her. He’d seemed like such a demon when the city was on fire, fearsome and invincible, but now he’s just...a kid. A weird kid, with really stupid ideas about how the world works.
“Are you for real? I’m not even that much older than you!” Lucy complains. “And it wasn’t for fun! We’d have been dust way before we set foot here if we did stupid things like that.” She winces a little, realizing what she’s just said, and quickly adds, “--But I’m not in the Guild now-- Hell, it doesn’t even exist anymore, so quit it.”
She’s still catching herself defending the Guild, even after everything....but old habits die hard, she supposes. After so long there -- every mission a matter of life or death, every mistake an inch closer to abandonment -- she’s still getting used to her new life, and it’s hard.
She doesn’t expect him to turn her own words against her, and flounders for a moment. Enemy or not, it’s hard to say this sort of thing to a kid’s face. “I didn’t know they hadn’t-- gotten rid of you,” she huffs, crossing her arms. “Like they got rid of me.”
She’s quiet for a moment, letting something like that out, before suddenly remembering who she’s talking to. “But--wait, that’s not the point! What are you doing out here?” she demands. “Is the mafia up to something?” She’s not looking for a fight, but if it comes to that, like hell is she going to let anything happen to the Agency on her watch.
