While I don’t like making light of any deaths and understand that horrible things happened in Israel, too… I’m also saying none of that is justification, either. Like I’m not the person who can write off an educational paper, I’m good at spinning tales, not being informative. So, I'll say this: if you research and try to look beyond the propaganda, you'll see one side having a long history of disproportionate suffering. I won't lie and say it's perfectly cut and dry; history never is. But what is happening right now is one nation is justifying collective punishment because of a bad thing that happened to it.

If you cried hearing about Israeli deaths, then what is going on right now should be equally horrific- not something reasonable. It needs to stop. Period. No excuses.

I pray for the well-being and safety of everyone, especially those trapped in Gaza.

My random take on the series Pluribus:

The hive is a near perfect representation of colonialism, assimilation (in the cultural sense), and the harm it brings.

You have an alien signal shot through space and the first thing anyone infected did was force it onto others as fast as possible—no requests or polite smiles or any indication of care with how this would harm others. It’s only when the hive realizes there are others (that can cause harm, or undo them) do they start insisting how everything is fine, they respect you and your choices—they love nature, they love you—can’t you see how much respect they have for your culture and thoughts.

Behind the scenes there isn’t any care, any concern, for what anyone would want outside of what they think is best. Personal and cultural identity is just a tool to complete the colonization.

It reminds me of peoples opinions on how “if they just assimilate then it would be better for them.” And other things like that.

Or in another way.

I went to an exhibit that featured works from 1960s to 1980s around the Slavic countries. One piece of art caught my eye, it was a bit risqué and clearly pretty intimate. It featured a man crossdressing and posing in front of a camera and multiple shots (it’s been awhile now since I’ve seen it, if I can hunt it down again I’ll put it up here)

What was truly interesting about the photos was the fact the man in them had been secret police—and for the whole time with the artist (who was lgbtq+ I believe) had been watching and gathering information on other people the artist knew in other to arrest them for just being who they were. Basically the guy had been playing pretend and participating solely to eradicate it.

It feels very similar to how the hive has been working, they even emotionally used the main character in a similar way too.

Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.

Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.

Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.

Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.

SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.

SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.

Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.

Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.

Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.

Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.

Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

Petition: Repeal the Online Safety Act

We want the Government to repeal the Online Safety act.

UK people -- the online safety act comes into force in late July. This will require any site providing user-to-user content, including many social media sites, hobby sites, anything with direct messaging capabilities etc. to veryify the age of UK users with photo id/bankcards or face fines.

This is a huge blow to online privacy under the nebulous idea of keeping kids safe from "harmful content" and the scope of "user-to-user" content is incredibly broad.

If you're in the UK, sign this petition to try and get the law amended/repealed. If you're not, please signal boost.
