"I don't avoid my responsibilities. If I have a task that needs to be completed, then I do it. Procrastination just leads to more work in the longer term- why would I make life more difficult for myself?"

"Countess Elizabeth Báthory and I should really have been sisters. We have so much in common, we could easily have been related."
What is the most sublime thing you have ever eaten and why?
"Beluga caviar. To have a food that has come from so many miles away, and is so rare...it is difficult to explain. It is exquisite, and if I could, I would eat it every day."
What was the worst day of your life and why?
"The day that I realised Arnauld Beaufort had betrayed everything we were working towards. We promised to burn the world down, to spit in the eye of every authority in the realms of mortals, celestials and infernals. And instead, he became weak and soft. He chose to build a family and surround himself with mortals.
We had enough power and wealth to rule the world, and instead, he chose to hide. He turned his back on me, so I decided to stab him there."
What’s your worst nightmare?
"To be weak and powerless, reliant on a man."
If a monster asked you your worst nightmare what would you tell them and why?
"Many would say that I am the monster." She shrugs in an offhanded manner. "Any knowledge can be used against you. Be careful who you tell your secrets to."
Would you give secret information if tortured? Be honest.
"Torture does not gain you valuable information. Torture only gives you information to make the pain stop. I've been tortured a few times in my long lifetime, and I have said whatever needed to be said to gain respite from my captors."
Who could you trust most with a secret?
"Until recently, Arnauld."
You have been caught somewhere you shouldn’t be! Quick, what is your excuse?
"I've found over the centuries, that most people are willing to turn a blind eye for the right price. On the odd occasion I meet someone with conviction who cannot be bribed, I have no choice but to end their life."
How good is your sleep schedule?
"I have no problem sleeping."
Do you have any siblings? If so, is your relationship good?
"I am an only child; my mother bore no other children after me."
What’s the toughest time you had to endure growing up?
"The Spanish Inquisition and European witch trails were a strain for several centuries."
What’s your relationship with your family like?
"My biological family are long dead, although, I suppose, I have some very distant cousins as descendants. I had thought I had made my own family, with Arnauld. But he had betrayed everything that we stood for, so you could say that we're not getting along very well at the moment."
Do you have any hobbies? If so what ones?
"I enjoy playing the harpsichord when I have some time on my hands."
Do you dream often? What do you dream about?
"I dream of burning those who have wronged me at the stake. It is very satisfying, and I always waken freshened from my slumber!"

"Romantically? Never. I have taken many a man to my bed however. I daresay, they have all fallen for me, but I have felt nothing but physical desire for them, if even that."
What is your least favorite thing in the world?
"At present, Arnauld Beaufort. But he is not going to be in this world for much longer."

"People who insist on speaking when their mouth is full of food, or who chew with their mouths open. Disgusting."

"I am neither of mortal blood, or infernal. I am a chambion and therefore, I do not belong anywhere."

"As far as I needed to. There is no blood I would not spill, no law I would not break..."

"I would rather die than work with Arnauld again."

"Although it has lost a lot of power over the centuries, I have always enjoyed porco Dio as an insult."

"Yes; I want what is best for me, and if someone has something that I want, then I must have it."

"I believe that the idiom 'rules are meant to be broken' was created to be applied to me."

"Everything has its place. A messy room creates a messy mind. I am very neat and precise in everything that I do."

"Weeping solves nothing. Other than make you look weak. It is pointless, and I see no benefit in it."

"I live for myself. Who else would I live for? What kind of imbecile asks these questions?!"

"Arnauld."
What style of accessories do you wear? Is it willingly?
"I am partial to gold. I have a beautiful set of pearl earrings that I was given for my sixteenth birthday that I enjoy wearing. The only thing from my mother that I have kept over the centuries."

What’s your favourite thing to do to avoid responsibility?
Avoid responsibility? I’m a champion of the gods, and a smash hit game developer, I don’t have the luxury of avoiding responsibility. Not that I would want to, anyway.
If you could choose anyone in the world to be your sibling, who would it be?
My best friend, Raphael. Everyone thinks that we’re twins when they see us together, even though I’m half Greek, and he’s from New Orleans. He’s miserable there during the summer because of his POTS. I wonder if he would be better off living in a cold, wet country…
What is the most sublime thing you have ever eaten and why?
Matcha choux au craquelin from Sugar Berry, a patisserie in my city. I like choux pastry, matcha, and crème patissier, so needless to say I was over the moon when I found out that there was a dessert that had all of my favourite things in it.
What’s your worst nightmare?
Orpheus winning against us, and Brooklyn Steadman being brought back to life. He doesn’t deserve to live, not after what he did to me, and to Solana…
If a monster asked you your worst nightmare, what would you tell them and why?
I wouldn’t tell them anything. You think I’m stupid enough to give a monster that information?
Would you give away secret information if tortured? Be honest.
I would not. And if they threatened to kill me, I’d tell them to just do it. I don’t fear death, not when I’ve already seen the Underworld. It’s actually pretty nice down there…
What was the worst day of your life and why?
October 31st, three years ago. My ex-girlfriend dragged me to a stupid Halloween party, then she ditched me to make out with some girl in a stupid sexy nurse costume, and then I was raped by Brooklyn Steadman. His daddy is a billionaire, so he got away with it.
Who could you trust most with a secret?
Which secret? Because I’ve got a few. Though if I had to pick, my girlfriend and partner in fighting crime, Solana. The things she knows about me are between us and the gods.
You have been caught somewhere you shouldn’t be! Quick, what’s your excuse?
I go a lot of places I’m not supposed to when I’m Blue Moon. People don’t usually question my appearances when they realise who I am, and if they do, it’s because they’re villains, and it’s my job to take them out.
How good is your sleep schedule?
Held together by energy drinks and protein shakes. Or at least, it was until my girlfriend started forcing me to go to bed, and eat proper meals instead of eating instant ramen, and blacking out in front of my computer at 3AM…
Do you have any siblings? If so, is your relationship good?
No, I’m an only child. My parents were already sick of each other by the time I was born.
What’s the toughest time you had to endure growing up?
Probably when I dropped out of university. I wanted to be a police officer, but I couldn’t become one when I realised that the police in this country don’t stand for justice. Those cowards pressured me to keep quiet because Brooklyn’s dad owned the university, and he’d cut funding to it if I got his son convicted for what he did to me.
What’s your relationship with your family like?
My father wasn’t around much during my childhood, so I spent most of my time with my mother. Needless to say, my relationship with her is far better than the one I have with my father. I only saw him once or twice a year, and I don’t get along with his family at all. My grandmother is a hysterical, god fearing woman who screamed and cried when she found out that I was a lesbian. I wouldn’t wish a hysterical Greek grandmother on anyone…
Do you have any hobbies? If so, what ones?
I’ve done ballet all my life, and given that I am a game developer, I’m also a very avid gamer. I like JRPGs, visual novels, and horror games.
Do you dream often? If so, what do you dream about?
My mind is forever filled with dreams of magic and fantasy. Up until recently, I hated living in the real world, and I longed for a life filled with magic and adventures…And then I got exactly what I wanted.
Have you ever been in love?
A few times, but not now, because I’m certain that I love Solana, not that I’m just ‘in love’ with her. Love and being in love are two very different things.
What is your least favourite thing in the world?
Greed. I’ve killed three billionaires, but I wish I could kill more. Billionaires shouldn’t exist.
What is your pet peeve?
People who gossip about themselves and others. They give away information far too easily, and they cannot be resisted.
Would you consider yourself different?
I’ve been chosen by the gods to wield Phoebe’s power, and stop a supervillain from bringing my rapist back to life, so yes, I would consider myself different from the average person. Most humans don’t know or believe that the gods really exist.
How far would you go to save a loved one?
I’d go to the Underworld again, if I had to. I’m not afraid of death.
Would you team up with your worst enemy if it was your only option?
I’d rather die. Orpheus deserves no one’s help, especially not mine.
What is the worst insult you can give?
I told Orpheus that his dead son didn’t deserve to live right after he all but begged me for mercy. Hades says that we can’t afford to show our enemies mercy….
What is the nicest thing someone could say to you?
That I’m a hero. That’s all I’ve ever wanted to be.
Are you a jealous person?
Not really, though I do envy people whose fathers weren’t Disney dads (Not that my father ever took me to Disneyland, but the point is, he was only there for me when it suited him)
Have you ever committed a crime?
Yes. Three murders, a home invasion, and countless amounts of property damage from the crossfire between me and the villains I fight.
Are you neat or messy?
I don’t have the time to clean. Any schmuck can have a clean apartment, but not everyone can create smash-hit games.
How do you feel about crying? Let it out or hold it in?
I only cry at anime or games, most of the time. Otherwise, I hold it in.
Who do you live for?
I only know who I would die for (Solana).
Who has betrayed you the most?
Tori. It’s her fault that I got raped at that stupid party.

I wear Phoebe’s circlet. If I didn’t wear it, I wouldn’t have my powers.

What’s your favorite thing to do to avoid responsibility?
Avoid responsibility? I can't really do that. The villagers will die if I'm not there to defend them. If I didn't NEED to be responsible, I'd really like to learn how to play more songs on the nerósiki. It's a magical instrument we have in the kingdom.
If you could choose anyone in the world to be your sibling who would it be?
Hmm, good question. I'm so used to being an only child. I think I'd go with Jael. She's a little older than I am and is already a big sister, so it wouldn't be much of an adjustment for her. Plus, she's a really good friend of mine (and a great cook, so I'd try to see if I could sample the foods early).
What is the most sublime thing you have ever eaten and why?
Mr. Vangelis visited once when I was a kid and had this sampling tray of different dishes that he was going to prepare for the king the next day. That was almost enough to start a revolution over!
What was the worst day of your life and why?
...I think it's a better use of time to focus on the good days. In short, a battle was lost.
What’s your worst nightmare?
My worst nightmare is Leander and the rest of the palace winning. He'll kill or torture everyone I love. If I'm not strong enough to protect them, that could happen, so I can't let it.
If a monster asked you your worst nightmare what would you tell them and why?
That monster would probably be Leander, so I'd lie and say something like, 'My worst nightmare is being captured by the Patrollers." He thinks so lowly of mutated Jiolans, he'd believe that I'd care more about that than my family and friends. If he captures me, I could find a way to escape. Even if I couldn't, they'd be safe, so I'd be fine with that.
Would you give secret information if tortured? Be honest.
No. This really is me being honest. [chuckles sheepishly] I've been a little more aggressive with my training lately, so...I'm used to pain. That's not to say that it wouldn't hurt, but I'd rather be the one getting tortured than any of them.
Who could you trust most with a secret?
Adara. She's been my best friend for my whole life. I just trust her in general. She could tell me that the ocean was really made of glue and I'd believe it. She's never given me a reason to doubt her.
You have been caught somewhere you shouldn’t be! Quick, what is your excuse?
I had to be here. The villagers would've died otherwise. (Unfortunately, that excuse only works with certain individuals.)
How good is your sleep schedule?
Sleep schedule? As long as I don't pass out from exhaustion, I'm okay.
What’s the toughest time you had to endure growing up?
I mean, I've lived my entire life practically on the frontlines of a war. You'd think that you get used to it, but you never get used to seeing innocent people die.
What’s your relationship with your family like?
Great! I get along with my mom really well. I've never met my dad, though. Something happened between him and the palace before I was born, but I'm proud of him. Everyone seems to have loved him. Otherwise, we've got a pretty small family, but I have an adopted grandma on his side and an honorary great-aunt and an honorary uncle!
Do you have any hobbies? If so what ones?
I really don't have time for hobbies. I'd play more of that instrument, though, if I could.
Do you dream often? What do you dream about?
I dream a bit too often nowadays. I used to never remember them. Now...[stiffens] yeah, I don't like what I dream about.
Have you ever been in love?
[Grins] I'm still in love. That best friend I mentioned. We're dating now! I was really worried that she wouldn't feel the same way, but it's been amazing. When the war calms down, we're going to go on an actual date. Right now, our dates have mostly been training sessions.
What is your least favorite thing in the world?
Telling families that there's been another death. You can see the hope fade out of their eyes and no matter how gently you word it or say it, you can't change what's been done.
What is your pet peeve?
Mistreating others just because you can. I hate that. Don't we all have better things to do than be cruel for the sake of being cruel.
Would you consider yourself different?
Different? Not really. I'm nobody special. Some of the villagers think I am because of how I was raised, but that's it. Any of them could've been in this position and I could've been like any of them. The 'difference' is that MY parents were the ones who became leaders in the village. They worked for it and it's my responsibility to keep the village safe too.
How far would you go to save a loved one?
I...hmm, Adara asked me that recently. I wouldn't torture someone. I think that's too far for me, but I'd kill and I'd sacrifice my own life.
Would you team up with your worst enemy if it were your only option?
[Chuckles] Do I have to? I guess if there's literally nothing else, but I can't say that I love the idea of being on Team Leander.
What is the worst insult you can give?
You're as useless as King Nikolaus. That might not sound too bad, but trust me, he does nothing for the kingdom. That's basically the same as me saying that someone could be dead and it wouldn't matter.
What is the nicest thing someone could say to you?
You give me hope. Now, this one might sound corny, but hope's hard to come by in the village. There's so much death and destruction everywhere. If I could make someone really, REALLY believe in the future that we're fighting for, that would mean the world to me.
Are you a jealous person?
Not at all. I guess I haven't been in a situation where that would happen, though. Luckily, it's just been me and Adara, so there aren't any romantic rivals for either of us. I don't mind Mom spending time with the other youths and like to share things, so I think I can safely say that I'm not a jealous person.
Have you ever committed a crime?
We classify crimes differently in Jiol than people do in the surface world. There, a crime would be treason, so technically yes. Also yes if we're going off surface world rules because I have killed a lot of soldiers. There comes a point when it's not self-defense anymore and I'm okay with that.
Are you neat or messy?
I've never really thought about it. I think neat. I'm not in my room too much to notice.
How do you feel about crying? Let it out or hold it in?
This is another thing that's different in Jiol. We're underwater, so we can't really cry the normal way that other people do. We sort of sob dryly. [Grins crookedly] I'm a bit of a hypocrite. I think that people should let it out, so they can express themselves. At the same time, I hold it in. I don't want to worry the others. If I seem like I'm devastated, then they could be too. So, let it out, but I probably won't personally.
Who do you live for? Why?
I live for the villagers. They're all I've ever had and known. It still breaks my heart to see so many of them live in fear. It's up to me to keep them safe.
Who has betrayed you the most?
...I won't say who exactly, but I trusted someone and it didn't work out. The plan would've been perfect if they hadn't done what they did. I still haven't forgiven them. I don't know if I ever will.
What style of accessories do you wear? Is it willingly?
I'm not really into fashion, but Jael's younger sister, Hannele, would love that question!

Escape. Literally. You know, it really helps when the problem is on the other side of the sea.

Folkie. If he becomes part of my family, he'll know good parents. If I become part of his, his father will know how bad children can be (and Folkie isn't one of them).
What is the most sublime thing you have ever eaten and why?
The cabbage soup Iver fed me the first time we met. I think anything Iver could have fed me would have been the most sublime dish. Just because I was hungry, and Iver did it sincerely.
What was the worst day of your life and why?
Equinox Day. The celebration didn't go according to plan.
What’s your worst nightmare?
The events of that day are repeating themselves.
If a monster asked you your worst nightmare what would you tell them and why?
I'd say I don't know. Do normal people even think about their biggest fears in advance? I can't imagine anyone sitting at dinner and wondering, "What am I more afraid of? Losing my life or my family?". It's more of a lie than the truth, but I think there's enough truth in it for a monster to believe it.
Would you give secret information if tortured? Be honest.
Yes. But I'd try to lie. If I were that same abstract monster, I'd believe information given under torture (though maybe that's why Ulf calls me too gullible...)
Who could you trust most with a secret?
I don't know? I love my friends, I don't think I want to drag them into problems that come with secrets.

I didn't know where I was going. I'm not from these parts, I don't know the territory or the local customs.
How good is your sleep schedule?
Well, I sleep at night. I try. When I'm at home. When I'm not, I just sleep when I can, I guess.
What’s the toughest time you had to endure growing up?
Everything was fine. I mean, there might have been some tough days or everyday problems, but that's normal. I don't remember anything that would make me call it "the toughest time."
What’s your relationship with your family like?
They are good.
Do you have any hobbies? If so what ones?
Horseback riding? Now I'd call it a necessary skill, but when we were little, my brother didn't ride Tunip very often, so compared to him, it was probably a hobby for me.

I often have dreams, but I don't remember them.

No.
What is your least favorite thing in the world?
Wars. There are no winners. Everyone suffers in one way or another.
What is your pet peeve?
Arrogance and indifference to other people's lives
Would you consider yourself different?
Sometimes I feel this way because, as I said, I don't know the local rules, legends, or holidays. I don't even understand what they mean when they curse someone, mentioning creatures unknown to me.
How far would you go to save a loved one?
I seem to live in a world where the answer "I'm ready to kill" doesn't surprise anyone. But I would be ready to fall to my knees and beg for mercy. Pride will not help anyone. I would sacrifice my life if it would help, but it doesn't really matter.
Would you team up with your worst enemy if it were your only option?
Yes, why not? But by "only option," I only mean the common goal or saving loved ones.
What is the worst insult you can give?
"I would prefer never to have known you." Not that it would really offend anyone, but you know, I love people and there have been times when I regretted not knowing people's names, but the opposite hasn't happened.
What is the nicest thing someone could say to you?
Returning to the previous topic, "I'm glad I met/know you." It really means a lot.
Are you a jealous person?
No. I'd be worried by someone who only talks to me and forgets about everything else. People should have their own lives.
Have you ever committed a crime?
I killed and, it seems, entered the city territory a little illegally through a secret passage.
Are you neat or messy?
It's hard to be messy when you don't have a room and a lot of things, but when it comes to the condition of my clothes and bag, messy.
How do you feel about crying? Let it out or hold it in?
I've never tried to hold back tears on purpose, but most of the time my eyes are just too dry. I don't try to control it.
Who do you live for? Why?
For Tunip. If I die, he might fall into the wrong hands. My other friends don't need me, and I can't abandon Tunip.
Who has betrayed you the most?
It must have been Kenneth the merchant, but I don't blame him. Many would have done the same in his place.
What style of accessories do you wear? Is it willingly?
I wear a glove on my left hand. I need it to use my bow. I have a leather bracer on my right hand, simply because long sleeves would get in the way. I also like belts because you can hang a lot of things on them and still have your hands free. I love practical things.
Пока я снова откладываю написание сложной сцены, вспомнила про рисунок нового наряда Хельги (да, я сама сначала забыла, какие цвета описала в тексте, но теперь синий вариант нравится мне даже больше). И кажется я впервые за долгое время попробовала нарисовать рот не просто черточкой, а чем-то даже наподобие губ. Жаль остальную часть лица я стала рисовать как-то хуже. Зато я отыгралась на ✨️складочках✨️
В любом случае это больше экспериментальный вариант и скоро Хельга вернется к более привычному (и ей, и мне) варианте одежды. Прости, синяя коричневая юбка
Wow... I didn't know this was a dark, epic fantasy when I bought this book! Definitely had some emotional scenes! This was darker than I expected In a good way, lol). This book's worldbuilding is super immersive, and it's got a great cultural setting ^^ (don't we all love that in fantasy??😆).
Without spoiling anything, I wanna say that this book has amazing found family, dark/epic fantasy, redemption (with Hitori ;)) Character-driven plots (like seeking trust) and LGBTQ + themes. This novel also taps into current social conversations about prejudice and systemic injustice by having discrimination between magical and non-magical groups (which parallels to real-world issues like racism or classism).
I would say the dialogue between characters (like Hitori, Adeliva, Kalen + more...) also fits the tone of this book very well! Nobody asked but Adeiva is my fav character :3 It's engaging and balances action scenes with dialogue. 😁
Overall, I would recommend this book for an older YA audience who enjoy dark, character-driven epic fantasy with queer representation and found-family dynamics. Found family is always a plus for me no matter what the genre 🤣.
@sarnai4 I'm having some kind of Tumblr glitch again, like the one a couple of months ago when I couldn't see or write messages and comments. And this time, it didn't fix itself after a couple of days. So, I'm out of activity again for now😭😭😭
Самая короткая глава "Под мириадом ночный огней" закончена! (Она должна была быть частью предыдущей, и сейчас я понимаю, что в целом по объему страниц вместе они смотрелись бы нормально, но слишком уж разные события в них происходят, так что пусть существуют по отдельности)
Из трудностей героев: дожди, сбежавшие гуси, немного семейных проблем и разговоры по душам.
Рисунок Ульфа в честь выхода 14 главы! (И я СНОВА не закончила ее на том месте, где планировала. Кто-нибудь, научите меня нормально распределять события по главам)
Из забавного: название родилось совершенно спонтанно, потому что кажется лимоны станут здешним мемом, если еще не стали. Ну а сама фраза "Не наша еда — лимоны. Есть их иному" — это пословица, означающая, что есть вещи, которым некоторым просто не подходят, которые предназначены для других, ведь у всех свой путь, свои трудности и свои радости. Я не люблю разговоры про судьбу и все такое, но благо мне не обязательно соглашаться со всеми чувствами Хельги.
P.S. Ульф конечно выглядит явно не на 50-55, а на все 70, но спишем это на их условия жизни
I did two of my OCs, Josefine from Nemori and Euekia from Cuckoo's Nest :D
They both happen to be whitehaired lol
Josefine would be a blood mage, and her familiar would be a black ram that is immortal and used as a sacrifical animal over and over to, in turn, keep her alive.
Euekia already is a healer in universe, so I didn't change much, she would be more focused on potions than she is now, of course, specialized as an asset to the army for pain relief and sedation.

This is Claudia! She's from the Changing Waters Trilogy. She's the MC's honorary great-aunt and is also both a mermaid AND the village's main spellmaster. And this is Rojesh (Roj)! She's the MC from my new horror-fantasy coming out in October 2028. She actually is a witch, but she isn't openly one. She also doesn't wear glasses in-universe although she desperately needs them🤣. If it looks like monsters are coming after her, that part IS lore accurate 😄.

Русалки — девушки, погибшие преждевременно неестественной смертью рядом с водой. Они застряли между миром живых и мервых, между явью и навью.
У них есть 7 лет на то, чтобы человек, повинный в их смерти раскаялся и намеренно пришел к месту смерти и попросил прощения у духа — тогда они могут упокоиться и переродиться. Если же этого не произошло, они навсегда остаются русалками, постепенно становясь все больше похожими на монстров. Mermaids are young women who died prematurely, unnatural deaths near water. They are stuck between the worlds of the living and the dead.
They have seven years for the person responsible for their death to repent and intentionally come to the place of death to ask the spirit for forgiveness—then they can rest in peace and be reborn. If this doesn't happen, they remain mermaids forever, gradually becoming more and more like monsters. While initially after death, they can still venture onto dry land to find the person responsible for their death and influence them, over time they become increasingly attached to the water, until they completely lose the ability to do without it. At the same time, they gradually forget their own lives.

Что помнит о смерти: на празднике в середине лета пошла с друзьями купаться на озере, ее взяли на "слабо", она попыталась переплыть его, но не рассчитала силы и утонула.
Отношение к смерти: убеждена, что это все — несчастный случай. Лукерья пытается убедить ее, что тогда бы ее друзья вернулись к озеру и раскаялись, но Айка защищает их, потому что нельзя искренне раскаяться в том, чего ты не совершал.

Time since death: 2 months
Character: She tries to stay positive and find the silver lining in everything (or at least maintain the appearance of it) or a new opportunity. She tries not to label anyone and gives everyone a chance. However, disappointing her means awakening Likho, because then she will be disappointed in herself and her principles and will abandon them, ready to treat people the way they treat her.
What she remembers about death: At a festival in midsummer, she went swimming in a lake with friends. They bet that she couldn't swim across, but she overestimated her strength and drowned.
Attitude toward death: She is convinced it was all an accident. Lukerya tries to convince her that if it would be true, her friends would then return to the lake and repent, but Aika defends them, because one cannot sincerely repent for something you didn't do.

Иста осаждает ее тем, что "они не могут знать наверняка"
Отношение к смерти: чувствует тоску как и из-за того, что потеряла возможность жить как человек, расти, растить детей и стареть, так и из-за того, что даже не может вспомнить, как именно жила и как умерла.
Name: Veya
Time since death: 16 years
Character: She's almost completely stopped showing her head above water, wanting to leave the world of the living behind. She's sunk almost to the bottom of the sea, where there's more space. She wants to swim far, far away and find a new home in a new place, but she keeps coming back "just to check on her friends" and "maybe catch a glimpse of people."
She remembers her death only that the water was cold. Ayka speculates that she may have fallen through the ice or that her leg may have cramped while swimming, but Veya can neither confirm nor deny this. Lukerya argues with Ayka and accuses her of "denying the obvious," because if it had been a simple accidental death, Veya wouldn't have become a mermaid. Ista besieges her with the idea that "they can't know for sure."
Attitude toward death: She feels sadness both because she lost the opportunity to live as a human, to grow, to raise children, and to grow old, and because she can't even remember how exactly she lived and how she died.

Отношение к смерти: равнодушное. Считает, что наверное потеряла сознание, поэтому нет и воспоминаний.

Time since death: 3 years
Personality: Not an optimist like Aika, more of a carefree person, as she's never considered evil spirits to be anything bad. However, she hates water, so while it's possible, she spends as much time as possible above it, helping other otherworldly inhabitants of the forest. She tries to stay away from people, afraid that she might accidentally encounter someone who knew her and lose her composure, either becoming homesick like Veya or consumed by anger like Lukerya.
What she remembers about death: Despite her relatively recent death, nothing at all.
Attitude toward death: Indifferent. She believes she probably lost consciousness, which is why she has no memories.

Что помнит о смерти: сама — почти ничего, но она еще в первый год записала все подробности, поместила бумагу в бутылку и закопала на побережье реки, где погибла. Первые пару лет она перечитывала их раз в год, но постепенно она стала забывать даже то, что читала, а потому теперь приходит к побережью раз в неделю. Главный страх — что она забудет, где закопала записи. Благодаря им знает, что ее столкнули с лодки и лицо человека, который это сделал.
Отношение к смерти: резко негативное. Намерена найти своего убийцу (а если не успеет до окончания 7-летнего срока — заставить его также умереть от воды, чтобы обречь и его на участь русалок). Не обладает неприязнью к воде, как Иста, но ненавидит свой внешний вид, просто потому что это — результат действий кого-то другого, а не ее выбора (из-за этого сдирает чешуи, но те отрастают заново в еще большем объеме).
Name: Lukerya
Time since death: 6 years
Personality: She is distant from her friends (though she loves them), and has difficulty accepting new people and spirits. However, when she sees new mermaids, her protective instinct kicks in and she wants to deal with everyone who hurt them. She doesn't skimp on brutal methods to find her killer—she's willing to lure people to bodies of water to scare and interrogate them, but she won't dare kill until she's 100% sure of her assumption.
What she remembers about death: She remembers almost nothing, but during her first year, she wrote down all the details, placed the paper in a bottle, and buried it on the bank of the river where she died. For the first couple of years, she reread it once a year, but gradually she began to forget even what she read, and so now she comes to the bank once a week. Her main fear is that she'll forget where she buried the notes. Thanks to them, she knows she was pushed off a boat and the face of the person who did it.

Attitude toward death: extremely negative. She intends to find her killer (and if she doesn't make it before the seven-year sentence is up, she will make him also die from water, condemning him to the fate of the mermaids). She doesn't have an aversion to water like Ista, but she hates her appearance, simply because it's the result of someone else's actions, not her choice (she tears off her scales because of this, but they grow back even larger).

This cracked me up because each time I tried to make her look less villainous, it seemed less like her🤣. She is NOT a villain in the story, but she is a very ruthless heroine. So...take that as you may. She doesn’t hold the skull of her enemy in the books, but she totally would if given the chance.

• Летом подрабатывал в магазине, где познакомился с Марной (Мариной), и с тех пор они лучшие друзья
• Мечтает стать художником, но самокритично шутит, что с его навыками сможет рисовать только серии Смешариков (Хельга возмущенно напоминает, что Смешарики — величайший философский мультфильм, и работой над ними нужно гордиться)
• Упрямо ходит пешком до школы и работы из одного конца села в другой, потому что Хельга приватизировала общий её велосипед
• Ловит косые взгляды, когда забирает Норри из школы, и вопросы о том, как он стал таким молодым отцом (когда Марна присоединяется к нему, вопросов становится больше). Позже выясняет, что по всему селу ходят слухи о том, что он помолвлен (Когда узнает, что это сделала Хельга, призывает Марну поговорить с ней, потому что брата она не послушает, но Марна только хохочет (она не против))
• В ответ Сигурд прилюдно спрашивает Хельгу, почему она ещё не призналась в любви Берте (Берта в растерянности. Хельга в шоке. Сигурд доволен собой. На следующей день Хельгу забирают в отделение полиции, куда он также спешно прибегает и объясняет, что это была шутка. Хельга обещает отомстить)
• Хельга выжидает неделю, каждый день в течение которой Сигурд ходил по дому на цыпочках и, завидев сестру, кричал, что больных на голову бить нельзя. Когда Хельга даже возвращает ему велосипед, Сигурд уверен, что она подложила туда динамит.
• Они договариваются о перемирии, когда Хельгу зовут как замену на соревнования по волейболу в город, и родители наказали Сигурду поехать с ней. В сельских школах людей мало, собравшиеся оттуда команды смешанные, так что когда на замену в команде противника выходит тренер, пообщав поддаваться, никто не удивлен. Хельга удивляется, когда видит этого же учителя, перекусывавшего бутербродами с нутеллой. Открытие так поражает её, что она забывает об обиде на Сигурда
• Ушла после 9 класса и теперь учится на выпускном курсе гостиничного дела
• На 1 и 2 курсах жила в общаге, но слишком невзлюбила местные порядки и теперь катается из села в город на маршрутке.
• Помогает Сигурду с подготовкой к сочинениям. У самой опыт в сочинениях маленький, но зато может накатать такое красноречивое резюме, что она не сомневается, что протолкнет Сигурда в вуз (родители советовали ей идти на юриста)
• Нетворкинг — ее все.
• При первой встрече не поладила с Хельгой, посчитав, что та плохо влияет на брата, но спустя время они все же поладили.
• Главный бизнесмен села (и раньше — общаги), любящие не увеличивать количество часов работы, а оптимизировать процесс
• К 3 курсу смогла накопить на машину и теперь постоянно возит Сигурда и Хельгу (те дерутся за место на переднем сидении. Когда Марна и Сигурд ругаются, место всегда оказывается забронированным для Хельги)
• Любит винтажную одежду, из-за чего становится постоянным гостем секонд хендов (хотела построить бизнес и на этом, но комендант общаги прикрыл лавочку)
(Пыталась нарисовать её так, чтобы в аушке она выглядела моложе, все-таки условия жизни в каноне далеки от идеальных, но она как будто стала прям ребёнком... А ещё у неё глаз поплыл😭 Мне ещё учиться и учиться рисовать лица)
• 9 классов с горем пополам окончены, и Хельга решает пойти по "мудрому пути Марны" (свалить в колледж).
• Поступает на бюджет на "рациональное использование природохозяйственных комплексов".
• Заселяется в общагу, где сразу же знакомится с второкурсницей-затворщиком Бертой с сестринского дела. Им везет, что формально в комнате числится третья девушка, которая на деле там не живет, и они остаются вдвоем.
• В духе любого бомжа-студента питается гречкой, макаронами, и иногда дело доходит даже до сосисок "Красная цена", а потому после первого отравления на следующий день не ест ничего и тоскливыми глазами провожает одногруппников в столовую. Ее замечает четверокурсник Ивер и угощает бутербродом, что она, по ее словам, "будет помнить до конца жизни". Они обменялись номерами, потому что Ивер в колледже появляется редко и постоянно торчит на практике.
• Хельга быстро находит туристический кружок и на зимних каникулах отправляется в поход на лыжах с преподавателем Ульфом и школьником Фолки, который посещал кружок только по субботам как школьный факультатив.
• Остальные разъехались по домам, но Хельгу жаба душила покупать билет. Видя это, Ульф пообещал, что на летние каникулы они пешком, "в рамках кружка", двинутся в сторону ее села.
P.S. Сигурд тоже покидает Скальмино ибо закончил 11 класс, но уехал в совершенно другой город ради бюджетного места вуза мечты. Марна скучает по их компании, т.к. хоть она и в одном городе с Хельгой, но ьа постоянно чем-то занята. Но они все обязательно встретятся через год.
