I know I’ve got some things to work on right now, but there was a lot of anxiety today, so I thought I’d do something small, light and laid-back. (This is what I get for trying a mocha for the first time when I need to get up at 3 AM. I’m buzzing, folks.) Let’s chill and see how the Resident Evil crew’s night goes with you, shall we?
Bedtime With S/O Headcanons - (Chris, Leon, Jill, Carlos, Sherry, Jake)
Chris Redfield
Chris is a man who you’d think would work until the last possible minute before bed. You wouldn’t be entirely wrong. He does spend a chunk of the evening finishing reports and answering emails. It helps him get a fresh start to the day. However, he knows when to stop and begin to unwind. His health is important for his job and sleep is a paramount part of that!
For Chris, his bedtime ritual starts with a warm, comforting beverage. He’s learned to drink tea over the years and likes a nice chamomile to end his day. He always makes you a cup as well and you sit together, quietly sipping as you process whatever’s happened.
Having you has actually helped Chris sleep better. We’ve talked about his cuddling needs before, but it even helps getting ready for bed together. He’s used to having others around him at nearly all times - growing up, it was Claire clinging to him; on missions, he does everything with his team; and at home, he has you to keep him grounded. Doing daily tasks with others lets Chris feel centered, so you get into pajamas, brush teeth and anything else as a duo.
Chris gets warm easily, so he tends to sleep in boxers and occasionally a tee shirt. More often than not, he’s shirtless, letting you wear his clothes to bed instead.
Leon S Kennedy
Leon is split on loving sleep and hating it. He desperately needs the rest, but tends to have vivid nightmares that make him anxious before bed. It’d be helpful if you were gentle with him when you come to bring him to your room, maybe being extra sweet to ease him out of his trauma-laden work mindset. Give him some extra kisses or play with his hands. Make bedtime a time for you as a couple, not a scary experience.
He’ll also appreciate something to help distract him. You two have started building a calming playlist to listen to as you chat in bed. It’s soft classical music that helps signal that it’s time to get sleepy. Leon prefers gentle piano pieces, though you’ve also discovered a mutual love for harp covers.
There has to be something playing on the TV when you go to sleep. Leon can’t deal with dead silence. He stays awake waiting to hear some kind of danger, whereas having a show playing in the background keeps him calm. You two have cable and tend to leave things like Food Network or HGTV on overnight. The lower the stakes, the better. (Plus, it gives Leon something to watch if he does wake up. Keeps him next to you longer instead of searching for a drink.)
Leon likes sleep pants. He wants to be ready to hop into action if there’s an emergency, but wants the comfy and stretchy benefits of loose fitting stuff. He leans more towards the chilly side, so he’ll wear a worn out shirt to bed.
Jill Valentine
Jill wants to go to bed early, get her cuddles in, and then have some space while actually sleeping. It’s not that she doesn’t enjoy your touch - she loves it - but she moves a lot in her sleep and is simply more relaxed without someone hanging onto her. Crashing early lets her love you up and talk before she needs her blanket bubble.
On that note, tends to be a blanket hog. She doesn’t mean to be! Jill’s got an iron grip, so the blankets just follow her as she tosses and turns. Just tug back and she’ll let go… usually.
Before you both go to sleep, you have to remind Jill to set her alarms. Yes, she has multiple. She is guilty of breaking alarm clocks and sleeping like the dead afterwards, so if you don’t help her remember to set the clock across the room, you will either be rudely awakened by one of her phone’s alarms or you’ll both wake up in a panic, running 20 minutes late.
Jill has a soft spot for cute pajama sets. In the summer, she likes the tank top/shorts combos and in the winter, she’s got the softest flannel stuff.
Carlos Oliveira
Carlos is the type of guy that prefers to get whatever he needs ready the night before. He’ll pack his workbag, get parts of his food made for his lunch, and set his boots out before crawling into bed. The secret is that, despite being fairly alert in the morning, Carlos wants extra time to be able to make you breakfast. He really wants that meal together before you rush off for the day.
You and Carlos also have a set routine where you 1) prepare for tomorrow, 2) do any washing up before bed, and 3) plan your favorite text. This last point is a little tradition you two set up to add some more positivity to each other’s day. Before going to sleep, you each brainstorm what your favorite part of that day was. It could be a joke Carlos told you, a cute dog you both saw, anything - so long as it was together, it counts. Then, during your respective lunch breaks, you text each other what that special memory was.
Carlos is part of the cuddle club alongside Chris. He really likes holding you like a stuffed animal while falling asleep. He cradles you to your chest, which you’d think is the cutest part, but that honor goes to his sleep talking. Sometimes, when he holds you, you’ll hear him mutter things while he dreams. The language varies, sometimes mid-sentence, but he always gets this little smile on his face when he does it.
Listen, if you’re comfortable with it, this dude will sleep buck naked. He runs at near-furnace levels of heat and it’s either hold you or wear clothes. Take a guess at which he’d prefer…
Sherry Birkin
Bedtime with you two is a recommendation rather than a set schedule. Sherry means to be better, for your sake and hers, but you both end up getting distracted with a new movie or game. She doesn’t have lots of freetime to spend with you, so she never wants to be the one to wrap it up for the night. You’ve fallen asleep in the living room, tangled up together, more times than she can count.
The one thing Sherry’s incredibly organized about is medicines. She has to take a couple kinds of pills before bed to help with the mental strain her job and childhood put her through. If you also have prescriptions to take, she’ll always make sure you’ve got a glass of water and your bottle of pills at the exact time you need, right down to the minute.
If Jill turns in her sleep, Sherry downright brawls. She’ll fling fists and kicks around like nobody’s business without stirring a wink. After many bruised ribs, black eyes and heartfelt apologies, you and Sherry decided to buy a couple body pillows to place between you. The mini-wall protects you from her karate practice while still giving you something to snuggle.
Sherry’s favorite sleepwear are cozy nightgowns. She likes the freedom it gives her legs (though that may be more dangerous for you).
Jake Muller
Jake’s used to getting very little sleep. Not only does he operate fine on just a few hours of rest, but he’s an incredibly light sleeper. He’s used to moving around, never trusting the people around him enough to fall into a deep slumber. Having you with him amplifies this feeling, as he wants to be on guard in case you need him for anything. (Granted, he wasn’t expecting half of those times to be because a bug got in your room, but whatever.)
When getting ready for bed, he tends to focus on you and making sure you drift off as fast as possible. There’s no reason for both of you to be awake at god knows when in Jake’s opinion, so if he knows a way to conk you out, he’ll do it. He doesn’t feel like he needs to look cool all the time with you, so he’s willing to do those sweet gestures that lull you into a peaceful sleep. Rubbing your back, stroking your hair, when it’s just you two it’s fair game.
Sometimes, when Jake is laying in bed and wide awake, he’ll just watch you dream. You look so content and knowing it’s because you feel safe with him makes him feel things he never dreamed of experiencing. Sometimes he’ll whisper a few words of love, telling you how important you are to him in a way that feels too vulnerable when you’re awake.
Jake either sleeps in the clothes he’s travelling in or, when in a more domestic setting with you, strips down to a pair of sweatpants. He’s part of the shirtless gang, though he doesn’t realize part of this is because he enjoys feeling your breath and heat against his skin.
How the crew would react to the loss of their soulmate (Heart break edition)

For those who don't know, that whole Adler headcannons stuff I posted earlier, kind of made me want to explore the broken heart idea and how the squad (now featuring Perseus as a permanent resident) would react to the sudden or else particularly traumatic loss of a soulmate level S/O.
"Dying of a broken heart" may sound like something you'd only see in dramatic tv shows or books, but a study was done once that found that that's actually a semi common way to go, particularly for elderly men who lose their wives.
Needless to say, heavy angst ahead and tw/ for alcoholism, depression, and of course death, so be forewarned!!!
Adler
Most likely would die to a broken heart
It would take a while for sure, but...
Things just aren't the same without you, and he's not the type of man who can lie to himself
He may not show it, but he misses you everyday
For a little while he tries to bury himself in work, hoping that'll take his mind off things
But ultimately, it only makes things worse for him
His smoking habit intensifies as well too, almost like he wants the damn things to kill him
Eventually, to no one's surprise, one day all the stress and sorrow catch up to him
Hudson
Probably would not die from a broken heart
However, the loss destroys him and he's never the same again
To the average person, not much has changed
But to anyone who sees him in private, they know he's a complete wreck
Hudson has a plethora of items and techniques he uses to self soothe after your departure
He rubs his head a lot when he misses you, even if just absent mindedly or subconsciously
It was one of your favorite things to do
Lazar
This hurts to write, but not only would he 10/10 die to a broken heart, but the big guy would go quick :(
He's a lot like Adler in that he can't lie to himself and just pretend things are ok after you're gone
But the difference is that Lazar is a little more... sensitive, then Russell, so he feels the pain faaaar deeper
His big ol heart can't handle the loss
He's absolutely devastated and almost totally unresponsive to everything around him until he finally goes
Mason
Alex definitely would live, but he's in a lot of pain after the fact
He has a severe struggle with depression
Every day it's hard just to get out of bed, the very same bed he use to share with you
Thankfully he's able to get some help at least, and is most likely to get as close to normal again as anyone else I think
He never remarries or even dates again afterwards though
Park
A runner up to Mason
She lives, but with great difficulty
Helen also has some self soothing methods when she misses you
Her favorite is to wrap herself up in either you old clothes or your favorite blanket
Sometimes if she closes her eyes, it feels like you're still there
She does try to get back into dating, but it feels.... Wrong to her, somehow
In the end, she decides she feels better off alone
Perseus
Surprisingly, he lives
However, this is only due to the fact that he takes out his anger and pain on everyone else
He never loses his careful planning or strategic wit, but his attacks become ever increasing and deadly
Adler and his team work practically around the clock trying to make sense of the sudden uprising, let alone trying to catch him
If your loss of life is a cause of a specific person or group, you can rest in peace, he hopes, knowing that they are dealt with swiftly and painfully
He keeps your picture on him at all times, and when the old man goes due to natural causes, he's buried with that same picture in his hands
Weaver
Weaver, perhaps also surprisingly, lives
But the loss of you absolutely kills him on the inside
It hollows him out to a very shell
All he does is work and drink
What little he had of a social life before hand is now completely gone, as he spends all his time secluded
Like for Hudson, touch is a very important tool he uses to soothe himself
Weaver will very often either stroke his brow or cheek bone around his missing eye, or simply rest a hand on his chest or tummy
Even if it wasn't necessarily the case, Weaver remembers feeling like you could never keep your hands off him, and these are all things you would do consistently
He can never keep it up for long tho, as the contact reminds him a little too much of you and will often bring him to tears
Woods
Oof, you already know he'd die to a broken heart
It's a very long and painful journey though
He starts off by tail spinning down into depression and drinking
Woods completely loses himself until he's not even the same man anymore
The fact that he's become someone he knows you would loathe makes things even worse for him
He's never blacked out from alcohol once in his life until after you passed, and now it's becoming a regular occurrence
Alex is extremely worried for him, but Woods refuses the help
Eventually, it gets to such a point that Alex is forced to accept that he's going to lose Frank too
He wish he could say he's surprised when he finds out Woods ends up dead in the hospital
You always try to get him to quit, but in times like these a cigarette is really all that helps to settle his nerves
That, and when he looks at the stars or open sky, it makes him feel connected to you
Just... knowing that somewhere, you're under this very same sky too, feels reasuring
Besides, he hates being alone... It means he has to be with himself
Hudson
He grabs a personal knick knack of yours and fidgets with it
It could be a hair tie, a piece of jewelry, a house key...
Anything you use a lot when you're at home
Hudson has a hard time expressing/processing feelings, so he likes to have objects to the talking for him
This means he actually gets quite a bit out of just holding these little things of yours
However, he always makes sure to return his little stash of your things from his desk to their proper homes before you get back tho
He... Doesn't want you to know about his clingy side
Lazar
He knows it's a problem, and he shouldn't do it, but...
His go to is to grab a comfort food and hunker down somewhere that he can be alone
Usually he'll put on the TV or some music in the background, just to feel a little less lonely
The only time this ever truly does anything helpful for him is if a show you like comes on or if he grabs some leftovers you made to munch on
If it's the show, he can forget the food and think about how in suspense you were during this or that particular episode
But if it's the leftovers, finishing up the portioned out meal makes him feel more satisfied when he's done, rather then like an infinite black hole
It's as though he just had dinner with you, like you never left in the first place
Knowing this, you try to leave packed up leftovers for him if you know you're going to be away for a while
Mason
Usually Mason tries to sleep it off
He misses you so badly when he's wake...
It hurts, and he doesn't want to deal with it
So instead he grabs up some of your favorite blankets and pillows and curls up in bed
The comfort items do a trick in it of themselves, but really he hopes they'll trigger a dream with you in it
That's the real goal
If he can't see you in person, he just hopes to see you in his sleep...
Park
She loses herself in her work
You see, it use to be work was the biggest thing going on for her in life
Then, it took something of a backseat when she starting being with you
So to have you gone leaves her feeling rather empty...
All she knows is to go back to what use to keep her satisfied in the first place, so that's just what she does
She takes on a full plate and then some, anything to distract her from your absence
You have to call frequently to remind her not to go overboard with it
Weaver
He becomes very moody and anxious, switching between sullen and highly irritable at the drop of a hat
After the murder of his father and the tumultuous childhood he had fleeing the ussr and being torn away from any extended family, he has very deep abandonment issues
He knows this, and he hates it
It makes him feel like a child, asking where you're going and when you'll be back every single time
And even if he has all the details...
Even when he knows in his mind that you'll be back...
He still feels the panic and anxiety that it's not true
The best thing you can do is to call and check in regularly
He doesn't want to feel like a burden by calling you all the time, so when you check in on him, it makes the seperation a bit easier on him
Woods
There's no easy way to say this, but...
He cries
Not in a "damn, I miss 'em" way, more like a "how the fuck did I ever live without 'em?" kind of way
Do you know what it's like to live your whole life alone, so deep in your own denial as you tell yourself everything is fine, that when you finally find someone shows you that you don't have to be so lonely, it feels like you've been living a lie all this time?
That's exactly how it is for him
Without you he gets depressed very quickly, like he's just an empty husk
And considering he's never had to deal with emotions like these before... The only thing he can do about it is crash and have a break down
How would the squad feel about having to babysit?👀

This man is a top tier, clandestine spec ops agent
He can handle a little kid, right?
Russ would be very responsible, that's for sure
Just put the kid in front of the TV or something, maybe give em a snack, and you're all good
He's a busy man though, so if the kid wants some interaction, he'd probably just nod along with some acknowledgments here and there
However, if his undivided attention would be more fulfilling until the kid gets bored, he'll happily supply that for a little bit
Hudson
Well we already know that Hudson is a dad, so reluctant as he may be, he'd be great at it!
At first, I could see him being a lot like Adler, just mostly ignoring the kid on the low lol
But I feel like Hudson would warm up kinda quick tbh
His work comes first still, of course, but he’d for sure be more interested in engaging
Oh and he most certainly does Dad (tm) things too
Like makes snacks and tucks the kid into bed if they’re staying over night
Lazar
Personally, I headcanon that Lazar grew up with a big family and so he has experience looking after little kids/siblings
They’re like little balls of energy, always getting up to something and such after all, which is just his style!
Besides, who wants to work when could be running around at the park or out getting ice cream? Or both!
And you can bet there is no interaction too “demeaning” in his eyes
Watching some super silly little kids shows? Why not!
Piggy back ride around the house? Hold on tight!
Tea party and dress up? uh, duh!
10/10 amazing babysitter, and he would happily do it again
Mason
As someone who is also a dad, I think Alex would have this in the bag lol
Although, he’d be more of the over bearing type then Hudson would
Very much a nervous parent/babysitter
He watches the kid like a hawk and keeps them away from anything and everything that could be potentially harmful
Hopefully he doesn’t have anything else to look after, like files to report or something like that, because that would only make his anxiety even worse
The kid would probably be blissfully unaware however, and if asked about it their time with him, they’d say they had fun
Park
She strikes me as the type of person who’s babysat before, so she knows what she’s doing!
Helen would be the perfect balance of Hudson’s calm but caring approach, and Lazar’s fun and interactive style
She knows how to give just enough entertainment to keep the kid satisfied and happy, and when to pull it back and wind things down for nap time or even just a little peace and quiet
This works out impressively well tbh
Even she gets to have a little bit of fun running around, but she also gets that work balance in as well when it’s time for tv or a nap
Potentially an even better choice then Lazar, given that she can manage things just as well and won’t hype the kid up on sugar and candy in the process
Weaver
Honestly? Probably in about the same ballpark as Hudson and Adler lol
Like Hudson, he knows some tried and true methods of how to take care of a child and all that
But, like Adler, he doesn’t and has never planned on having kids in his whole life, so he feels a touch overwhelmed
He’d check up on the kid a lot
Not quite as much as Mason, but enough to earn himself the title of “papa bear” if the child was actually his
All in all it’s a good experience though, and Weaver comes away thinking that maybe having kids wouldn’t be so bad after all
Woods
Who’s idea was this????
He’s pretty sure he’s never been around a kid in a domestic setting in his whole life
If anything, you’d think he was scared of the kid
I’m imagining that one scene from Monster’s Inc where Sully and Mike are just hiding behind some stuff and watching Boo do whatever lmao
It’d be something like that for a while, just honestly
Of course, there’d come a point where he’d have to interact, and wouldn’t you know it... They become fast friends
By the time the kid’s parents come back, they’d basically have a mini Woods on their hands as he would have taught them everything he knows

You know what? I'm ticked off at my other blog rn, so I'm in the mood for some angst. I'm just going to put up a little warning, this is quite angsty, like.... Probably the most I've ever written on here, so just fyi 😪

His first clue is when he comes home and you aren't there
He waits up all night, thinking maybe you're just out
It isn't until noon the next day that he finally gets some sleep
For the next 12 hours he tries to get ahold of you, calling around to see if anyone's seen you
The next morning, he heads straight to work to file you as missing
He does everything in his power to find you, growing more and more sick with worry as the days go by
Adler becomes restless, easily agitated, and he's forgetting to eat and sleep
Hudson gives him the news
An inside man has the details on what happened to you
Including the programming to turn you, the most dear person in all the world to him, into an assassin sent to kill him in the name of Perseus
Adler can feel his heart drop
He feels dizzy, and sick, and like his ribcage is suddenly far too small for his lungs
Hudson gives him some time alone
They both know this can only end one of two ways
Either they capture you back and try to undo whatever stitch and his people did to you, or...
They'll have to kill you
Russell swears he would never let it come to that
He leaves everything in the house the same as when you left
Your side of the bed is always made, he sets out a dinner plate for you when he eats, he even leaves the tv on that stupid reality channel you like so much
Sometimes he even watches it, just to feel closer to you
The next few months become a game of cat and mouse
Every time he runs into you, he just tries to get through to you
You know, in spite of the fact that you've now had your whole existence dedicated to trying to kill him...
It's the fact that you don't even recognize him when he calls your name or tells you that he still loves you that hurts the most
Attempts to capture always seem to fail, you're too careful for your own good
Hudson and his superiors are getting impatient
They can't risk losing one of their best when there's something to be done...
Adler comes to fall into your traps on purpose, just to see you and try again to get through to you
What he doesn't know, is that this time he's been followed
As soon as you show yourself, a shot rings out and you drop like a stone
Hudson's man has done his job, and now it's time to report back
Adler suspects he knows who's behind this, but right now, he can't even move
He wishes there was something he could do
Scream
Stop the bleeding
Run up and hold you one last time
But even from here he can see there's hardly even anything left of your lovely face
He drops to his knees, the weight of what's occured weighing him down
It's all he can do to crawl over to you, the smell of your blood choking him as he lays down with you
He runs a hand through your blood soaked hair and, for the first time since this whole mess even started, he allows himself to cry
Adler buries you nearby, on his own terms
If he doesn't, Hudson's people will do it themselves to cover things up
Adler confronts Hudson in a rage the next day
"It had to be done Russell"
He only leaves once other agents drag him out of the building
Adler spends the next several months obsessing over things he could've or should've done differently
He almost wishes you would've killed him, at least then you'd still be alive
No matter how hard he tries to go back to his normal life... Things just aren't the same
After your death...
After the hole left in him by the loss of you...
He dies of a broken heart a few months later
And at the end of it all... Hudson has his people bury him next to you
