also, alicent losing it over rhaenyra daring to violate the gender norms she’s followed so closely is very much in line with how conservatives tend to feel threatened by others disobeying the same social norms they’re trapped by. if you base your whole identity off of adhering to tradition out of a sense of fear, of course it feels like an attack to see someone doing okay despite not doing the same. because was your fear and pain and obedience really worth it if you know deep down you could’ve gone a different way and maybe, just maybe, gone unpunished?
