Simple happiness
When you tell your sister some big important news and her reaction is the best :)
I’ve been a coward about everything. Everything that really matters.                                 (I love you.)
iconicÂ
Me: *gets story idea*
Me: This is so obvious and clever it practically writes itself!
*later*
Narrator: It did not write itself.
Contractions function almost identically to the full two-word phrase, but are only appropriate in some places in a sentence. It’s one of the weird quirks of this language we’ve.
This post needs some kind of warning sign.
I did not see that coming.
Some people say the English language is confusing. To which I say… It’s.
That’s the kind of linguist I’m.Â
Tonight, a lethal combination of bigotry and apathy gripped the United States, and I honestly can’t say which makes me angrier.  To the rest of the world: I’m sorry.  To my fellow Americans: hold onto those you love and get ready for a fight.  We let this happen.  We’re the only ones who can fix it.
Literally millions of Americans right now are telling women this: It doesn’t matter how qualified you are. It doesn’t matter how smart, capable, or experienced you are. It doesn’t matter if you are the most qualified person for your job in American History… You are still not as good as a sexist, racist, bigoted, misogynistic fuckboy who paints himself orange.
In my opinion, that’s a fucking shame.
and it don’t just apply to America, the whole world is watching and even in countries that have female heads of state, we’re all seeing the same thing. At your best you will never be as good as the worst man.
I’ve been sick since the returns started coming in from the East Coast last night. This morning – with my stomach still rejecting this new reality – I have to consider what this means. Staring at the keyboard, my snow white hands resting on my new laptop, my thoughts continuously return to privilege.
I keep reading, “It will be okay.” But it won’t. That is privilege talking. That is a straight, cisgender, able bodied, white person talking – even one that might feel sick and at this moment. Even one that supported Clinton. It’s someone who doesn’t have to face discrimination – the kind been enshrined by the president elect of our country – on a daily basis. What this election did was normalize the hatred of difference. The things Trump said during this campaign were inexcusable… and 59 million people legitimized them.
This is what we, especially the privileged we, cannot abide. We cannot sit by and watch as our fellow humans are attacked for their gender, race, creed, or ability. If we do, we are complicit with Trump and his ilk. We can’t just scream into the echo chamber of our neatly manicured Facebook groups, Twitter circles, and gatherings with friends.
Last night was a wake up call. The forces of bigotry and hate can only be held at bay through action. I don’t know what that action looks like this morning, but I know it looks nothing like what I’ve been doing.
Take some time, a few days – to feel heartsick and sad and angry. To practice whatever self-care you need to get up in the morning.Â
Then repeat this to yourself, like I am:Â
I will be better than them.Â
I will be kind to those that need kindness.
I will remember that our fellow citizens also elected the first openly gay governor, the first Latina senator, the first Black female senator since 1999, and the first Somali-American lawmaker.
I will stay focused and not give in to despair.
I will stand with anyone that stands against Trump.
I will speak out against the injustice that I see.
I will use what privilege I have to help those that have less.
I will not stop making noise.
I will not let that human dumpster fire ruin our country.
