That One DM Frame
all this explicit body horror only being reserved for black bodies in this show on top of the racially charged language and the bastardization of the black characters idk anymore man
Just saw someone say the finale felt like a mid-season finale and yeah. That’s it exactly. That’s the feeling. I couldn’t put my finger on it but that’s it.
And season 1 did not feel that way. We knew we were getting a part two but it was still its own season. Still a complete story. This feels like there are another slew of episodes to come. That cannot be the big finale for The Vampire Lestat, which is wild because they finished the book.
If it were mid-season finale, I’d have completely different opinion on it. Mostly. It would lead into more Armand, more accountability for Lestat, more whatever the fuck is going on with Daniel. But it’s just… done. It feels like it just started.
lestat said kill yourself and armand made one of his bandmates jump in front of a train. lestat made fun of armand's sexual performance and past as a child sex slave and armand helped his boyfriend leak a video of lestat having sex with his own mother. you go low he goes to hell hall of fame
Oh and the autism comment at Alex?
First of all, your “companion” has vampire autism, Daniel, so watch your mouth. You should know better.
Second of all, Daniel’s dialogue had been so strange. It’s like they gave him one big offensive thing to say per episode. This doesn’t feel like Daniel just being an asshole anymore.
One big offensive thing per episode, and it always comes out of nowhere. It’s too big and too frequent to demonstrate the casual biases he realistically has. Season 1 and 2 did it more naturally. It was a comment here and there, not every episode. That’s a believable character. Daniel is intelligent and has travelled the world but he’s also still a crass man of a certain age so he’s gonna be saying shit.
It’s offensive, of course, but does anyone else just find it weird too? I want to say it’s Lestat trying to portray Daniel considering how cartoony every side character was this season and that it makes sense for him to make Daniel look bad, but I don’t know if I can say that confidently anymore. By the time it got to the autism comment, I was just rolling my eyes at the writing. You don’t need to do it that often. I barely want to use it to analyse Daniel as a character anymore because I just don’t think he was himself this season. No one was.
But does anyone get what I mean?
My one prevailing thought after watching the finale of The Vampire Lestat, and all of the episodes really, is that this season needed WAY more breathing room. 12 episodes rather than 7. That was A LOT, and everything felt rushed through (or not given enough attention in certain cases *cough cough*). Yeah, the post about how episode 7 felt like a mid season finale was bang on. I'm seeing a lot of negativity in the tags so I dunno how much I'll be on here for TVL, probably a little while longer, but thank you to those here that make the gifs and great analysis posts of the show, you brighten the fandom by being in it.
The Vampire Lestat (2026)
Red's grew up in a dictatorship and her mother was awful and when she changed the past she got a home that really was wonderful and a mother who loved her. Max grew up in the same dictatorship but had a father who loved him and when Red and Chloe changed the past he end up growing up on a horrible Island and a father who cared more about a pocket watch. Red got everything she wanted and it ruined Max's life. They make me ill.
I just keep thinking about how Ryland Grace used to be a regular at his local diner.

I’m sorry. I… I ruined our plan. It really was a coincidence. Why are you apologizing? You saved my dad’s life. My family owes you. I guess I’ll have to work off our debt. You don’t have to. I was just doing my job. I'm just worried your dad's going to lose it when he wakes up. What if he relapses?

Is there a specific way to read the vampire chronicles or some books you should skip (I’ve just heard that some aren’t that good but like I’m up for anything)? And what books are focused on Louis and Lestat?
Okay I hope you weren't looking for a short answer to this because there isn't one 😭 Rather than just give my uncontextualized opinion, I'm going to try to explain what makes some (most) of VC so unbelievably terrible in so many people's eyes. There are going to be spoilers for pretty much all the books, but most of it is either incredibly stupid or information that you might want relating to content warnings. I'll list what applies to each book as I go.
I'm assuming you're here from my VC primer post, but if not, I'll link it right here! It gives a bit more detail on my short answer to your main question which is: if you value your sanity, only read the first three. Also a note to read the post I linked at the bottom of it about Anne Rice for context. It will help with understanding the tone this post takes re: the author.
To quickly answer your second question, I am sad to report that Interview with the Vampire is the only book focused on Loustat because after that Anne Rice decided that she hated Louis. Their relationship is on and off in the (very, VERY distant) background until they finally get together permanently towards the end of the series, but it's never the focal point again. She just kept us all on the hook by having one absolutely brain chemistry altering ship moment in a majority of the books (my compilation of those moments here).
Okay, on to specifics:
I’ve been dabbling in riso printing! I’ve been trying to figure out how I can translate my soft digital style into a risograph by separating all the color channels. I have not printed them yet, so I have no idea if they’ll work ~ I still need to pick the final colors!
