there's a key difference between born wolves and ones that are bitten - one of them can achieve a full shift and it for sure isn't the bitten ones.

not only do born wolves have to fear hunters but also poachers who are after their pelts. werewolves are bigger than normal wolves and alphas even more so. it's rare to catch an alpha so their pelts fetch a sum so good to many it's worth the risks.

most of the hale's perished in the hands of hunters. the only one's to survive were laura and derek. until poachers got to her as well. they weren't even interested in her but they knew she was the easiest way of getting to her brother. a means to an end.

a wolf needs a pack, but can survive without one. an alpha needs a pack if they don't want to go feral. a feral alpha is mindless. acts and doesn't think. easy to predict. it's this what the poachers are relying on.

they snatch an annoying young man who wouldn't sell to them on their way through his village. they take him far into woods and tie him up so he cannot move and after he won't shut up gag him as well. a silent immovable spectator of his own death as they lay laura's bloody pelt on him.

the poachers are sure of their trap. the feral alpha can't help but go into a killing frenzy when he finds what's left of his sister on this stranger. and when he does the poachers can get upper hand on him.

what the poachers aren't anticipating is that the only thing to snap an alpha out of a feral state is their mate. whom is currently laying tied up and hurt by the people responsible for killing his sister as well. they don't stand a change when derek descends on them.

Caedrose (people who lose sexual & romantic attraction due to trauma) and stresrose (people who lose sexual & romantic attraction due to stress, mental health issues, or trauma) are valid aroaces, but it is disgustingly inappropriate to ask someone if their asexuality or aromanticism is due to sexual trauma. It is inappropriate to ask ANYONE "do you have sexual trauma" after they come out to you, regardless of what the orientation/identity is.

It doesn't matter that she is a therapist. Making assumptions that someone's orientation is the result of trauma perpetuates the stereotype that aroaces don't exist outside of trauma.

Also, as a therapist, she should know better than to randomly bring up sexual trauma anyways, because not everyone is mentally prepared to delve into that. Even crazier that she did this on her FIRST DAY with you.

I get in theory why people complain about het ships or whatever, I get wanting to watch queer media I really do, but I guess where y’all lose me is like. I saw some asshole on a post about Sinners complaining it was “hetslop”—this person was specifically doing so while also claiming Remmick was a queer character and thus they were justified in caring more about him than the Black protagonists. which is a whole other disgusting can of worms that has been well addressed by others at this point. but even in the absence of that part of the argument, like, no, i actually don’t think that a hunger for queer stories is an especially good excuse to deride and dismiss a piece of landmark Black filmmaking, especially as a non-Black person. I have a post that’s been going around encouraging folks to engage with more Native stories and characters, and I had someone come onto that post saying in the tags that they’d need these stories to be queer in order to care. and I just think that, you know, sucks! like obviously as a queer Native I also want to see more of those stories too. but idk how else to put it other than to say that Black people and people of color shouldn’t have to be like you in order for you to care about our narratives and experiences. and I think some of y’all are using this disdain for heterosexuality as a cover for your unexamined racial biases. it’s not okay to be racist to people just because those people happen to be straight, and you continue to be white before you are queer.

on an even more basic level than that, also, I simply just think some of y’all NEED to learn how to interact with media and storytelling without ships and fandom in mind. like if not being able to write fic about two men kissing is genuinely going to be a dealbreaker for you I think that’s actually something you need to work on within yourself because at that point I think you’re no longer really interacting with art and themes and narrative so much as just kind of playing with toys. which is, like, fine I guess. have fun. but it wouldn’t kill you to disengage from that from time to time. especially if would allow you to actually appreciate rich and deeply moving cultural stories from communities of color that you desperately need to learn how to see as human

He decides it’s better not to listen when she starts talking to the headstone. It feels too personal for him to hear what she says. It’s not for him. It’s for her.

He doesn’t realize how much he got used to seeing her there until she doesn’t show up anymore. It surprises and scares him at the same time.

"We all have hundreds of thousands of decisions everyday," I said. I thickened my accent. "That's what my stepdad always said. But I can make one easier - we have a delicious Ethiopian roast available."

I laughed. "I've heard that before."

"It's a joke, but people get offended. Maybe you're offended."

I looked at him. I smiled. "You aren't trying to offend me though, right?"

Of course he was. I was being friendly and the friendlier I was, the faster he switched topics. He was saying anything inflammatory he could think of to see if I'd take the bait. After about 20 minutes of my redirecting and deescalating, he settled into a more normal interaction. He took up too much of my time showing me a product I'd feigned mild interest in to get him to stop talking about getting accused of inappropriate behavior at work. When we finally disengaged, he spent 10 minutes trying to catch my eye again. When he failed, he left.

There's this new breed of customer who insists on trying to incite political conversation through their clothing and, when that doesnt work, their snide little comments. If I owned my own business, maybe I would have given the guy the fight he wanted. But I work for a corporation and I love paying my bills so I deescalated.

Anyone wearing that type of shit and preying on workers for their own spank bank material is a brainless fucking sheep.

something i want to mention because i’ve seen it growing as a trend online is that not only do people do this just for their own gratification, but watch for glasses. smart glasses are a growing segment of the consumer market, and creeps like this are harassing people in public in order to gather content without the victims being aware they’re being filmed
