A lot of pop psychology gets thrown around and since I already have a headache, here's preventing you lot from making it worse.
Love-bombing: A manipulation tactic of increasing affection and grand gestures before or after doing something abusive, specifically to weasel one's way out of consequences.
What it is not: A streak of affection and generosity towards friends/loved ones.
Trauma-bonding: Knowingly traumatizing someone to take advantage of their vulnerable state, to then act like the "hero" or the one who cheers them up.
What it is not: Bonding over similar traumas.
Gaslighting: *Knowingly* convincing someone they cannot trust their own perception of a situation in pursuit of one's own narrative.
What it is not: Misaligned perception of events.
Narcissist: Someone afflicted with Narcissistic Personality Disorder, a traumagenic cluster B disorder, that struggles with self-obsession, paranoia, craving validity from the public, delusions of grandeur, and social disconnection.
It is not: Your rubbish ex that cheated on you.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

Oh... That's what trauma bonding is. Oh.
I *also* didn't know that trauma bonding and love-bombing were... that. added to lexicon and course correcting...

it's another kind of grooming, age regardless - you put yourself in a position of power over someone and then exploit their need for intimacy or protection or affirmation
bc of art like that I was sure that wha was centered around doomed yaoi but it was found family with domestic yaoi on the side thank god
roots
i'm a big sucker for a diegetic piece of art/literature serving as a mirror to the story's characters, so naturally the illustration of the poem about a silverleaf tree falling in love with a star from chapter 47 of WHA *had* to be redrawn as Qifrey and Oru ✨🍃
tip jar!
aaand a rotated version under the cut for easier Oru appreciation!

I don’t know if this is an obvious take or a hot take, but I think people need to start re-framing feminism as the fight for body autonomy as opposed to whatever this second wave revival gender essentialist bullshit we have going on right now. Once you reframe it in this way, it’s easier to understand intersectionality and why cis women are not the only people who need feminism. The lack of body autonomy effects cis women, trans people, intersex people, disabled people, poc, homeless people, sex workers, etc. and your feminism needs to include and prioritise all of these groups of people (which will include men btw) because feminism is about autonomy, not about establishing a matriarchy. Body autonomy is the biggest threat to the patriarchy, both with reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and even the right to not be drafted into military services. Once body autonomy is established for everyone, the patriarchy no longer has a leg to stand on.
And body autonomy does include things that you don’t personally like either. I was prompted to write this post after a series of bad takes from progressives, but one of them was re-hashing the Sabrina Carpenter album cover drama with “I don’t think it’s conservative of me to think that the album cover is a bad look when we’ve seen images of women being abused in this way” because I do actually think you’ve failed to understand feminism by projecting your morals onto a woman who was consensually expressing her own autonomy just because she expressed it in a way that you didn’t like or that made you uncomfortable.
Body autonomy also means unhealthy choices. Body autonomy also means regret rates. Body autonomy also means freedom of sexuality. Body autonomy also means mutilation. If you believe body autonomy has limitations and exceptions, then your feminism is most likely surface level.
TERFs are some of the biggest opponents to body autonomy, and if you find yourself thinking “oh people can do whatever they want with their bodies as long as it doesn’t harm them or make others uncomfortable” then you are far more susceptible to TERF propaganda than you think.
ooooh the radfems are BIG mad about this one

THE OTHER BENNET SISTER (2026)
the other bennet sister was the romance series I desperately needed because there is nothing better than watching two loser nerds (said with all the affection I absolutely love them both) falling in love. I may have to write a video essay on this.
You must come with me, loving me, to death; or else hate me and still come with me, and hating me through death and after.
"you're so funny" thanks my husband of 10 years turned out to be a hot butch lesbian who murdered half of my family and wanted to kill me too. We're working on it.
I'm tired of all the pathetic whining about the portrayal of the demons in Frieren being supposedly inherently racist because we don't get a goodie little broken hearted demon who only kills humans because they're traumatized so Frieren can understand her wrong ways.
Like go watch kpop demon hunters or something if you need that kind of thing. It's literally in every piece of media ever and well executed too.
Stay with Frieren if you want to discuss Macht and the golden city arc. The demons in Frieren aren't evil, they're just incapable of complex emotions like love, empathy, remorse, guilt but also - hate.
What they are capable of however, is feeling the emptiness where those emotions should be. And fear.
I didn't think Frieren could make me feel sad for a demon but it did. Machts death was sad, as was his existence. Despite the people he killed it's hard to even hate him because he is just simply not capable of the emotions that would lead him to make better choices.
We know that because he desperately tries to understand humans. Spends hundreds of years on it. Becomes a servant to a human family, tries everything to make himself feel attached to them just so he can feel something when he eventually kills them.
"What is hell? I maintain that it is the suffering of being unable to love." - Fyodor Dostoevsky
