In a world menaced by an invasive insectoid species, the best bet to stop the encroaching Hivelands from turning the Overside into a barren wasteland is a group of horny weirdos. Ain't that just the way.
ORIGINAL TEXT: Okay, some background.
For some time now, I've been working on a new original work. Borne of me realizing that I had a lot of adopted characters sitting around that I wasn't doing anything with and a desire to make Hornier Art, I started workshopping a fantasy story using these adopted OCs. What started out as "excuse plot to facilitate a bunch of fantasy sex and violence" eventually spiraled, as it often does with me, into backstories, worldbuilding, character arcs, narrative themes, etc etc you get the point.
While I do want to work on a larger piece that tells a grander story, I've started by writing some short 4 to 8 page scenes intended to introduce characters, concepts, and just establish the world's status quo. I've been posting these pieces over on my Bluesky along with writer commentary discussing what each piece is meant to explore or accomplish, what the process of creating each one was like, and challenges faced in constructing the events in the scene.
Below the cut I'll be linking all the scenes I've written so far, plus brief introductions to the characters. I'll keep this list updated as I write more and will also include links to the commentary thread on Bluesky for each one that has one.
The current scenes, in order of completion:

Our cast of weirdos:
Tira Masca, axe-wielding horsekin. Somewhat prone to injury and, on occasion, death. Seems weirdly fine with it. Original design adopted from @cosmindart.
Zadak Vintasal, haughty elemental mage dragonkin. Doesn't like it when you call his brat routine a "brat routine," but also possible that's part of the bit. Original design adopted from @cosmindart.
Avalon Loch, pugilist shadowkin. Hailing from the Underside, has impressive physical capabilities but lacks confidence in himself. Original design adopted from @cosmindart.
Xora Kordov, healer dragonkin. Prodigy in healing and resurrective magics, mostly due to the questionably ethical experiments she's performed in the past. Original design adopted from @sugaryrainbow.

We've seen what COULD have happened, now it's time for... well, what also COULD have happened. We run for another ending in Star Fox Command on the Sharkstream, hope to see you there!
it actually is insane to me that it's a cultural norm for men to suck ass at getting their wives/gfs gifts. especially when they whine about how they have no idea what women like.
man, you're not getting a gift for Female Domestic Partner. you're getting a gift for Natalie, a person whom you have been married to for 7 years, whom has lived in the same home with you for a decade, whom speaks to you every day about her thoughts and interests, whom you presumably love, and whom you can directly or indirectly ask what she wants. it's not that you don't know what half the human population wants, that's irrelevant. you don't know what Natalie wants and that is inexcusable.
so i hauve covid rn and i must say, American cold medicine is the absolute bees knees. You go to a UK pharmacy and they tenderly press like eight (8) paracetamol into the palm of your hand... God FORBID you're sick in France, i had to scour every pharmacy in Paris for something that wasn't HOMEOPATHIC PASTILLES. meanwhile last night i took the last of my stash of Nyquil that expired in 2019 and it was like getting hit by a fucking baseball bat (affectionate). press X to timeskip. LOVE me a cheeky little medically induced coma. you can really feel that it's a precursor to meth. i know that everything is fucking awful over there my friedns and my heart goes out to every one of you but if you need one small bright light of national pride in this time of strife please know that i envy you your cold medicine every day
i once took an american antihistamine pill just a basic one for seasonal allergies and i had to immediately lay down and while doing so i vividly hallucinated that i was a steerage passenger on the titanic resigned to my death as my cabin filled up rapidly with water. then i blacked out and when i woke up again my allergies were gone for the entire season.
