A Connection

Travel photographer Chris strikes up a friendship with Mira on a train to Hyderabad. Mira agrees to show him another side of India and, despite her soon-to-be engagement, the two get closer with each passing day. The film, created by 11 students from Michigan State University, depicts the fine line between friendship and something more.

BEHIND THE SCENES

The names Chris and Mira are a play on Indian folklore. Chris is meant to be a variation of the name Krishna. Krishna, a Hindu god, is well-known for his playful and flirtatious manner. Mira's namesake (Meera) was a princess who was extremely devoted to Krishna. However, Krishna and Meera's love was doomed because they were from two different worlds and Meera was already married to someone else.

BEHIND THE SCENES

The faces behind the film consist of 11 students and one professor from Michigan State University visiting India on a study abroad trip. The group has spent the last three weeks sightseeing across the country to cities like Delhi, Agra, Aurangabad and Pune. The students spent the past week in production mode making their film ideas come to life! “A Connection” is meant to incorporate the group’s experiences in India — with a bit of a Bollywood twist.

MEET CHRIS

Chris, an American travel photographer, arrives in Hyderabad armed with nothing more than a map in his hand and a camera around his neck. However, he quickly realizes that he has no idea where he's headed. Lucky for him, a native of the area, Mira, agrees to take him around her hometown. Throughout their adventures, Chris discovers various sides of India and learns a thing or two about spirituality.  Will Chris let his connection with Mira grow past friendship despite her engagement?

A Hyderabadi painter with a taste for spicy food, Mira is the type of girl who believes in living life with an open mind. We began shooting the temple scene in the middle of the day and didn't end until it was dark outside. So we turned on some major lighting for the photo shoot!
