Can u talk about again on what the eah character’s appearance looks like in the books
I'm very happy to do this because I wanted to make a more accurate version of the post. Before I begin, a clarification:
Some characters had their descriptions retconned when their dolls came out. For example, Faybelle in Shannon Hale's books has midnight blue hair, but after the doll's release (three years after their debut), they were described as blonde. So this list takes into account how the characters were described for the very first time.
The list only features characters whose descriptions differ significantly between the books and the show, in terms of hair/color/body type. So if someone is missing, it's because they're practically identical or there's not enough information.
Apple: Blonde and blue eyed, she's always called the "fairest of them all". She has round cheeks pressing with dimples. She Is CURVY. The nose is round and the lips are reddish and full. She's very pale.
Raven: Raven is said to have "long black hair with purple highlights, dark eyebrows, strong nose and chin" just like her mother. Her eyes also are dark, deep purple type. Raven also say she has slouchy shoulders and is very tall and a bit gaunt. Her dialogue with Apple implies that Raven is also flat-chested
Briar: Despite already being one of the tallest girls in their class, Briar always wore super-high heels, making her the tallest. She has long brown hair, described as wavy. Next to Briar's elegant brown skin, Apple seemed even paler. At least in the first books there is no mention of the pink stripes
Blondie: In the books, Blondie is caught with curlers, so it's safe to assume her hair is straight.
Lizzie: Initially, her hair is described as black only. However, after the doll was released, red hair began to appear. It's confirmed that her mother has a natural heart-shaped birthmark, while Lizzie's is makeup.
Maddie: Maddie still has her iconic mint-lavender hair, just like her dad. She's described as a very petite girl, both in height and frame. Her eyes are green-ish
Daring: He has a lean, athletic build and hair so blond it was almost white, and they are always gelled. His white teeth are indeed twinkling. He's also the tallest and most muscular of the brothers. He has a chiseled jaw. Edit 1: It's also said that he has perfect curled hair!!
Dexter: Dexter is lanky and slouchy. He has his usual brown hair, but in the books it's a bit messy instead of slick like on the show (he tries to fix it, but it doesn't work). Now, while all the Charmings have blue eyes, Daring and Darling are more the "clear blue" of Apple's. Meanwhile, Dexter has deep piercing blue eyes. Since he and Darling use the same armor, I'd say that despite being skinny, Dexter still has healthy muscles.
Darling: Darling looks a lot like her brothers, both in terms of color (the same as Daring) and height (the same as Dexter). The Charming women are also given a very specific description: button nose, round face, and full lips. Darling is also described as visibly muscular.
Hunter: Guys, I have some very important news - HUNTER HE HAS A MOHAWK IN THE BOOKS!!! The shitty haircut is the show's fault (thank you Shannon Hale once again!!). Hunter is described as very tall and broad-shouldered, like his father.
Faybelle: Faybelle is described as having midnight blue hair.
Humphrey: He's an egg through and through.
Duchess: Like in the cartoon, Duchess has long black hair with white and lavender streaks. It may be sad to know, but in the books she's described as pale, unlike the olive skin of the series. She's described as extremely tall, but above all, extremely thin and lanky.
Holly and Poppy: The twins have AUBURN hair (unlike in the cartoon where they're ginger). Poppy also changes her hairstyle in each book: in the first she has a full head of purple, in the third a turquoise faux hair, and only in
Ashlynn: Ashlynn's hair color is strawberry blonde, unlike in the cartoon where it's auburn.
Cerise: The dark part of Cerise hair isn't black, but dark brown (dark chocolate, if we were to use the color name). She's tall and broad, with strong, solid thighs. She has broad shoulders.
Cedar: She has dark, wavy hair, heavy and kinky braids. Her face is visibly made of wood.
Sparrow: Sparrow has brown, messy hair in the books, and his eyes are green, but a little darker. Also, yes, the books confirm that he's a hot guy! The rejections stem from the fact that he's an asshole. Edit 2: It is said that she resembles her aunt
The Crumbs cousins - They're definitely different: they have blonde hair and wear green, suggesting they're wearing traditional Tyrolean attire. Helga also wears red lipstick.
