Her ramblings had become something adorable to Cole. It seemed as though she was similar to him when he was sober. Maybe this was her tipsy: rambling and adorable. He was a more mellow person with alcohol in his system. The doctors were still baffled by it. Cole chuckled to himself and shook his head. “I understood what you said, don’t worry. And now I know if I’ve ever been a sex victim, I’ll go to him. But, ah, I haven’t met him and I think I’ve heard his name once, maybe twice. From what I heard he’s a good man… kind of firm, but good.” The weight of her touches kept the brisk New York air from chilling him. Soon enough they’d be at the little cafe where it was nice and warm. “It’s not too far,” he said. “I wouldn’t want you to go home now when we’re so close.” After a few beats, he added. “I’m Cole, by the way, Cole Alexander.”
Cole. So he did have a name, and it wasn't one she was inclined to shy away from. Micheal, that was one of those names, but not this name. Cole. It fit his smile that lifts his features so easily, it complies with his inviting voice. She watched him speak, enjoying how comfortable he was in each movement. His lips curved beautifully around each syllable, his breath curled out in front of him before he walked through it. He gave off a glow of confidence and something just below the surface, in the slight tenderness of his voice she couldn't quite ignore. "I'm glad you haven't been a sex victim." Stupid! I don't want anyone to be a sex victim! The minutes passed as they walked ever closer to the cafe, her eyes flit to his profile, admiring the way he was. Afraid of the way her heart raced at even the thought of him looking her way. She realized she hadn't spoken in a while, letting out a soft laugh to fill the silence awkwardly. Heather was always like this: awkward, clumsy; but it was usually easier for her to flirt and toy with anyone and everyone she met. Cole had a strange way of blocking that portion of her mind. "This place is cute." Heather spoke as she gazed upon the less-busy cafe. Smells of freshly brewed coffee poured from inside, sending a shiver up her spine. Her lips pulled into a smile as she listened to some of the small talk that came right before the bell rang as someone walked out of it. "I can't believe I've never been here before, how'd you find this place?"
