oooh i like these! since the rough estimate between the Event and Hong Kong is three years, one has to wonder what happened in those three years and i do think Rex had a lot of run-ins with various bad people since he supposedly blacked out multiple times before ending up in a (relatively) more stable environment in Hong Kong. then he leaves HK because he was a jerk to his friends (possibly because of Quarry) and. blacks out again. haha. (roughly the fourth or fifth year post-Event)

I'm not gonna deny that lil' (ish) 12/13 year old rex was a jerk, because I bet he was, but i've always been suspicious of the massive shift in personality rex would have to have had in order to actually do that, amnesia or no amnesia. especially since a) quarry had every reason to make rex look as bad as possible and b) shapeshifters were explicitly mentioned that episode as being a thing, along with all the other ways you can fake a video diary. :]

I kinda headcanon that quarry did something to rex that was bad enough that he blacked out/went robo-destructo, because it seems like something he would do and i like torturing lil' rex

and it's like: it's canon that lil' rex (possibly as young as 9) was wandering around, without (apparently) most of his offensive/defensive generating abilities, and curing things during a time period where everything was going to hell and back. 

there is no way the poor kid didn't end up running into guys like the Promises, Promises asshole. no way.

gen rex au idea, before I forget: 

Right before the Nanite event went critical, Caesar managed to grab lil' rex in time, thought it involved a lot of running like hell to the mobile lab. Rex was terrified, and angry-- where was mama and papa? WHY WERE THEY LEAVING THEM BEHIND??? But Caesar managed to wrestle the kid in and slam the door before, well, boom. 

Five years later, a universe without Rex Salazar to shake things up is revealed: there was never any cure, which means Providence rules the planet with an iron (if necessary) fist, Quarry's criminal empire grows by the day (and may even be preferable to a providence controlled world, if you're a sentient EVO), Van Kleiss has the Omega Nanite, the Consortium are making their move to route him, and rogue Providence Agents Six and Holiday roam the planet, attempting to find some way to save the world. 

Enter Caesar Salazar, and his ten (nine?) year old brother Rex-- the cure. Things predictably get worse, but hey: at least the bros have each other, right? 

ALTERNATIVLY: 

the nanite event goes down according to canon, but Caesar get's knocked one year in the future, rather then five. Amnesiac lil' Rex has wandered his way halfway across the planet, before getting himself mixed into a terrible situation involving maaaaad sciiiientists who are thrilled to find the Cure, in the same way that asshole from Promises, Promises was thrilled. Poor kid. In the canonverse, this resulted in a ROBOT MODE ATTACK and another round of memory wiping. 

This, of course, is where BIG BRO Caesar makes planet fall and whups some mad scientist ass. The rest of this AU is caesar attempting to track down Rylander while raising his amnesiac little brother, failing (but he tries bless him), and getting kinda-adopted by a mercenary named Six who was passing through (he's kind of an asshole about everything, but was suckered in by lil' rex's puppy dog eyes).

RIP Leelah Alcorn

Leelah Alcorn was a 17 year old transgender woman artist. She grew up in a very religious Christian family. When she came out as trangender to her parents they told her it was a phase and sent her to therapy. The therapies they sent her to were religious ones that told her things like god makes no mistakes, told her she was selfish, and that the only way to cure depression was to follow gods path. She came out as “gay” at school so people wouldn’t be as shocked when she came out as trans. Her friends were accepting but her parents called her an embarrassment. They took away all electronics for 5 months and kicked her out of public school.

She was an artist. The drawing above was drawn by her. 

She committed suicide on December 29th due to the transphobia caused by her family. Please remember her and the other transgender people how lose their lives to transphobia.
