say it with me everyone: the trans experience is not inherently based on suffering and it’s not a competition where only the people that have suffered the most are “really” trans. i understand the pain of not having gotten the care or the support from family when u needed it, but what kind of world do you live in where you would wish that same harm on trans kids and think if they do have love and support they’re not a part of the community. you are misdirecting your anger at people that are just as vulnerable to bigotry from the world instead of the people actually perpetuating the issues that make trans people suffer in the first place

i know there’s a lot going on but ICE are now one step closer to literally creating gas chambers. they are spraying a chemical called HDQ neutral roughly 100 times a day, every 15 minutes at the adelanto detention center (one of the biggest in the country). people are getting rashes, headaches, their insides are bleeding, etc. the guards are wearing gloves and masks but the detainees have NOTHING. and here’s a quick reminder - america inspired the nazis to create gas chambers when they gassed latino people during the 1917 bath riots.

I don’t have the words to properly explain how horrifying this is. In April, the advocacy group Freedom For Immigrants published a report about unsanitary conditions at the detention center, where the immigrants were made to clean the facilities with only water, or shampoo. According to their report, there were sick detainees there - possibly with COVID-19, but it’s unclear since they weren’t being tested - and the conditions could easily lead to a situation in which the virus exploded among those there.

The guards are spraying this disinfectant in retaliation for the report. To be clear - HDQ is an industrial-strength disinfectant, which according to the manufacturer is “harmful if inhaled” and “causes severe skin burns and serious eye damage.” The guards are spraying it on everything every 15-30 minutes, according to sources, and immigrants in the center have already experienced severe symptoms including blisters, rashes, bleeding, fainting, breathing difficulties, headaches, stomach pain, and nausea.

And let’s be real - ICE doesn’t give a shit, either about protecting these people or about preventing a COVID outbreak. ICE, according to their own reports, currently has 25,911 people in custody, of which only 2,670 have been tested. 1,392 of those were positive. In simple terms - less than 10% of detainees have been tested. Of those, more than half are positive. We cannot estimate how many sick people ICE is currently holding, or how many more will get sick without any kind of prevention or care.

ICE is killing people through neglect, and when they dared complain - they started gassing them.

Unfortunately, with Trump in the white house, petitions aren’t doing much. What we can do, however, is donate to the advocacy group that is bringing these things to light, allowing them to continue their work and hopefully free more immigrants. Their donation page is here. Please spread this.

trans men are allowed to be upset when you misgender them even if they "arent even trying to pass". i literally have never seen anyone say the same thing about cis men who dress femininely. you guys just look for ways to be transphobic without consequences. nobody is saying you cant slip up, it becomes a problem when you defend misgendering trans people rather than correcting yourself and moving on.

hiya! I figured id make an informational post about the little things ive noticed about being on testosterone that I found weren’t talked about a lot when I was starting my transition and even before when I was doing my research. I think that trans sexual health is an extremely important part of trans peoples lives (and that doesnt necessarily mean sex) seeing as the physical changes that happen during transition are often foreign to us. Sexual health keeps us healthy and comfortable in our bodies, so do your best to stay attentive to your body’s changes! As always, consult your doctor if you feel the need to. These are only tips ive learned from transitioning myself and from my doctor when I asked about certain things.

If someone is coming out to you/telling you about their sexuality, match their energy.

If they’re not making it a big deal, you shouldn’t either.

If they’re really nervous or emotional, respond with compassion.

If they’re excited, be excited with them.

I’ve seen a lot of things that seem to imply that it’s always best to be really super amped about someone coming out, but that kind of energy can be embarrassing or uncomfortable if the person doesn’t feel the same way.

On the flip side, if you respond with indifference, you might think you’re being s good friend by not caring whether they’re gay or straight or whatevs, but that can be extremely invalidating if this is a monumental or exciting moment for the person.

Read the room, match the energy.
