Item #9 Feral Future patch https://feralfuture.bandcamp.com/ http://feralfuture.tumblr.com/ https://twitter.com/feralfuture https://www.facebook.com/feralfuture/info?tab=page_info http://www.dailytexanonline.com/life-and-arts/2014/03/19/austin-feminist-punk-band-feral-future-releases-album Notes: Even though I haven’t been in Austin very long, there are a lot of bands that have a special importance to me because they are some of the first local acts that I happened to have discovered. Feral Future is one of those bands. I first encountered them when they opened for The Coathangers at Red 7, and they played a really good set. Their vocalist Relle is commanding, and just smolders with raw power. As I saw them play more and learned what they were about, I only fell more in love. Feral Future is fierce heavy punk rock/ queercore act that gives an important voice to the feminist struggle. I respect the hell out of these humans.

Post #8: Resent + Teenage Swoon Split cassette https://resentnoise.bandcamp.com/ https://teenageswoon.bandcamp.com/ https://www.facebook.com/TeenageSwoon https://www.facebook.com/resenttx Apparently I missed Resent’s last Austin show (▰˘︹˘▰) That is a mega huge super ultra bummer. I have seen them several times, and it was always a super tight and energetic set of their heavy spazzy noise. Going to miss them, I hope their tour goes well! Their side of the split is really dope, and the lyrics are really interesting. I hope soon I get to post about their other tape that I think just came out. Teenage Swoon (RIP) was a super great band to watch, as i remember, they always played with a lot of passion. I used to their No Hymns release on bandcamp a lot for a while. They were one of the first bands I discovered when I began going to shows in atx. Their side of the split is also top notch. I’m not as good as a music taxonomist as i would like to be, but i think it’s fair to say that their half features a really solid old school emo/post-hardcore sound.
Round 2 with Ostraca in Blake’s garage aka The Aggrocrag.
this is where i got my Osrtaca merch, everybody was awesome
Post # 7 Ostraca - Deathless cassette + patch https://ostraca.bandcamp.com/ https://www.facebook.com/KILG0RETR0UT Notes: Ostraca is one of my favorite bands right now. They have such a dark and excellently brutal sound. I saw them at the Aggrocrag, where they summoned a tornado with same black magic they had harnessed to create such sick tunes. The power went out at the end of their set. Trees crashed down and blocked the roads in the neighborhood. The general consensus I got from attendees at that show, after Ostraca played, was “This tornado will kill us but it’s a good day to die, I’m glad to die with you.” Deathless sounds like a storm collaborated with the color black. idk, just listen to it, it’s so good!!
Post #6 Back Legs - Krakatoa EP cassette https://backlegs.bandcamp.com/ https://www.facebook.com/backlegs Notes: Back Legs has a super energetic punk-as-fuck sound. I listen to them when I need an extra help with not giving a fuck. I have only had the pleasure of seeing them a handful of times. Excellent hardcore from Austin...

Post #3 Under a Sky So Blue - Demo Summer 2014 https://underaskysoblue.bandcamp.com/ https://www.facebook.com/underaskysoblue Notes: This band was amazing. I saw them at Austin Blood Alliance Fest in January of this year. Radical music with important things to say.

Sorta Lonely - what it’s like to live on the moon https://sortalonely.bandcamp.com/album/what-its-like-to-live-on-the-moon https://www.facebook.com/SortaLonely Notes: Dakota Bahney is, as far as I can tell, an excellent person! This music, with its personal, gnashing lyrics, its intense dynamics, and moshy riffs, has gotten me through some cold morning bike rides to class. Those kinds of mornings when I hated everything, most of all myself, this gave me the rage to push through and get where I needed to go. This drum-and-bass-only two-piece is as raw as it gets.
