so i've sifted through some of the reblogs on my last post and i've come to a couple conclusions

firstly, i'm not a child ?? idk where this headcanon came from but i've seen people calling me a minor on different occasions 💀 i'm in my twenties tysm!!

secondly, i'm not tryna moral grandstand here, me and mine just find Darkling Fans to be a strange bunch. it's plain weird and a little disturbing to see a bunch of (mostly) grown adults trade videos or posts from people with opposing fandom opinions, then flood comment sections to argue the black and white facts of a YA series. like do we want to get along orrr ???

ANYWAYS no i don't need jesus, no idk who ethan is, yes war is always bad no matter who's fighting or why (even when fictional), and i will defend my queen zoya nazyalensky until the day i die! normalizing abuse in media is never cool!

goddd this server makes me giggle cuz all they do all day is sit around and diss other grishaverse creators for their opinions, then they get mad when anyone questions THEIR opinions

anyways their only argument so far is that “children were never in the army” but that’s not what i said 😭😭 i said that forcing them to go to the little palace and train FOR the army at a young age exposes them to military propaganda. they are given an education, yes, but an education with the intention of turning them into soldiers. also i literally acknowledged in my original post how ravkans (mostly previous lantsov rulers) have abused grisha for centuries and how some grisha may not want to fight for ravka for that exact reason, therefore it’s good that they’re given the choice !!! they did not have a choice under the darkling ??? that's literally why alina wanted to avoid being tested as a child, that's like a major plot point ???

it's crazy to me how nobody talks about how radically different the second army looked under the darkling vs how it looks now under zoya and nikolai

nikolai was only king for 3 years which is not a lot when u think abt it, but one of the first things he did was abolish the conscription for grisha. the little palace remains a safe haven for grisha, but no grisha is forced to serve a country that's abused them for centuries, they're not immediately thrown head first into military propaganda when they're barely 10 years old! he gave them this choice even tho the second army's numbers were already dwindling

not to mention lazlayzon?? like cmon! nikolai created the nolniki bcuz he knew grisha and otkazats'ya could accomplish more when working together, which is smth even alina and zoya hadn't truly considered bcuz it seemed so impossible (pun totally intended)

the darkling used fear as a manipulation tactic to make the grisha believe they had no other choices. they HAD to become soldiers. they HAD to serve him. no otkazats'ya would EVER treat them fairly. he told them there was no other way to protect themselves when that wasn't even remotely true - he just needed them reliant on him.

if nikolai accomplished all of that in a few years, i just love to think about what zoya might've done once she was crowned queen.

how long until the darklina fans realize they can read actual dark romance instead of projecting onto a ya fantasy series for tweens

thinking about how genya is described as the most beautiful and insanely incredibly gorgeous and wonderful and awestrucking and captivating person alina had ever seen just for them to not be canon

the way genya is absolutely leagues better than mal or the darkling like don't even mention those two around me
