Especially with her dreams of attending medical school, there was no room for slack in her studies--- she’d simply gotten used to navigating the ins and outs of being a student. At his conclusion, Jasmine simply nodded, though her gaze shifted off to the side, refusing to meet his. “ Yeah, that’s... that’s exactly what I said, yes, ” she stuttered out, pink tinging her cheeks. “ I just--- the girls always end up leaving me to go hook up or whatever and I need someone there that I can count on, ” she explained quickly. “ Is that, um... cool? With you? ”

It doesn’t break, but made a sound like it might, before rocking around a little on the floor before finally settling in place. “What the hell are we looking for again?” The blonde sighed as she half-heartedly, at best, looked around.

Jasmine winced silently as the mask hit the floor, eyes squeezed shut in agitation. Of all people to be paired with in an eerie old lodge, Sydney wasn’t exactly Jasmine’s first choice, but she was trying to make the best of it. It was clear that the other was not exerting the same effort. “ Switch box, ” she reminded her. “ We’re supposed to be turning the power back on. ”

Curious how quickly she’d answered. “It seems pretty serious to me.” She admitted, pressing her lips into a thin line. “I would feel a lot better about everything if we just got you checked out.” Elizabeth could sense that Jasmine was trying to steer clear of going to the hospital and this only spiked her concern even more. “Plus, if it’s actually nothing, we have nothing to worry about, right?”

Under her friend’s inspection, Jasmine raised her eyebrows in question. Of course Elizabeth didn’t believe her--- then again, in a reversed role, the witch would have done the exact same. With a deep breath, she considered the other’s proposal. Jasmine knew exactly what was wrong with her, but she didn’t particularly want to explain any of that to Elizabeth. It would only worry her more. And the hospital staff wouldn’t be able to pick up any anomalies, she was certain. “ Okay, fine. If it makes you feel better. ”

“ Will you put that down? Please? It’s creepy as hell. And old. ” Jasmine visibly recoiled at the sight of the old mask, arms crossed tightly over her chest, making her form seem smaller and smaller. Her eyes were wide with anxiety as she glanced around the room. “ It probably has bugs living in it. ”

Eyes stared ahead, an expression that revealed such focus could be seen across Seraphina’s face while listening intently to the repeated recording. Still in disbelief that they captured an actual voice this time around.  ❝ I don’t even know ?? We’ve never had such responsibility in our hands but first things first, we need to figure out what the voice is saying because it almost sounds like some kind of message. “ No, no, no--- that’s good. That’s a good start, let’s do that. ” Gwen spoke a little too quickly, excitement underlining every word. After a moment of blindly glancing around the room, she raised a finger in her girlfriend’s direction, as if to ask for her patience. Hopping up from the couch, she searched aimlessly for her laptop before squishing herself back in close to Seraphina. “ Okay, we can um... enhance the voice. Try to cancel out the background noise, ” she explained as she hooked the recorder into the usb port. Her hand intertwined itself tightly with Seraphina’s, squeezing gently as if that might help contain her fidgeting.

This wasn’t the first time Elizabeth had witnessed one of Jasmine’s little nose bleeds. Actually, it seemed to be a reoccurring thing as of late. It was beginning to worry the redhead. One or two was a normal thing. But it appeared like something might actually be wrong with her friend. “Of course.” Smiling weakly, the ginger disappeared for a moment before returning with a glass of ice water. “Here.” Offering it to the dark-haired beauty, her features twisted a little. “You know, maybe we should take you to get this checked out.” Emerald hues looked the female over as if she’d be able to magically figure out what was the cause of the red sea that streamed from her nose. “Just to make sure it isn’t anything serious.”

During the short period in which her friend was out of sight, Jasmine lifted the end of her sleeve to her nose, carefully wiping away drops of red. Getting the stains out would be a simple fix--- something she told herself to distract from the very un-simple fix of her own slow deterioration. Always look on the bright side, or at least that was the witch’s motto. She sent Elizabeth a thankful smile as she accepted the glass, taking slow sips. “ No--- no, that’s uh... not necessary. ” She answered almost too quickly. “ It’s not serious, I promise. Don’t worry about me. ”
