Writing, at its core, is about stepping into someone else’s shoes. It’s not just about creating characters who are like you, it’s about understanding characters who are nothing like you. Writing forces you to ask, “Why does this person act this way?” “What are they afraid of?” “What do they want?” You have to feel what your characters are feeling, even if you don’t agree with them. Working on a new book in the Legends of Silverguild series since I've been taking so long on the first one. It's a prequel of sorts. Talking about the lore and creation of the world from the water elementals perspective. Since I already have all the information, I'm already halfway done with the first draft. Planning on calling it "Legends of Silverguild: Creation of the Gods".

Does anyone have strategies for naming things in fantasy worlds, I'm typically okay at it but my creative juices are running low :(

A couple ideas:

- first 2 things it makes you think of. Name it that/mash the words together

- random sound

- random string of letters

- keysmash then add/remove letters until it sounds like a word

- regular thing that it reminds you of (that doesn't already exist in your story)

- regular thing that it reminds you of and change the letters around

- don't name it and let the characters call it "the thing" (/hj)

- for things invented/created, maybe name it after the creator (works for discovered species as well)

I'm actually using the name Sopu for an ancient kingdom. Doesn't show up in the actual book(might reference it in book 4), but it's officially part of the worldbuilding. It's the first kingdom ever created.

Creating a new generation of My Little Pony: Generation 4.5!

Takes place years after gen 4. After Twilight's friends have died and there have been a few new generations of the elements of harmony.

Since the last group has come and gone, things have been peaceful and it's been a while since a new generation has been chosen.

I've been really into script writing recently, so I'm attempting to make a whole series of episodes. I already have 6 season 1 episodes and 2 season 2 episodes planned and titled.

The new elements of harmony are: Flipsy Doo(white unicorn), Summer Harvest(green earth pony), Harmony Blossom(blue alicorn), News Flash(gold earth pony), Mixed Media(purple pegasus), Wild Strike(blue-grey pegasus)

After having more friendship problems coming up recently, Twilight becomes worried. After having a chat with dragon lord Spike, she decides to return to the castle of friendship in Ponyville and check the cutie map. She sees a darkness spreading from a place called the Bridlewood forest. Suddenly, six cutie marks appear on the table, but they are glitchy and she can't tell who they are. A pony named Mixed Media, concerned about how panicked Twilight looked while rushing through town, shows up. They learn that Mixed Media is one of the new elements and she goes on a quest to find the others who are spread out across Equestria.

Finally came up with a name for the generation. My little pony: Distant Friends. The theme of the series is supposed to be that friendships can last, even grow stronger, despite being far away. Mixed Media, Summer Harvest, and Harmony Blossom live in Ponyville, News Flash lives in Manehatten, Wild Strike lives in Cloudsdale, and eventually Flipsy Doo will live at Rainbow Falls(She lives in Ponyville for now).

I'm also writing a theme song! I'll post that once I'm finished with it. I want to do a little animatic for it to really show the idea.
