time for more of Over Analyzing Yumeko with Guro , this headcanon will be about Yumeko’s older hospitalized sister.
now, as of chapter 38 , there’s been no mention from yumeko herself in regards to her sister, and the only mention of her sister was when it came out amongst the student council that her parents are deceased and her sister is hospitalized ( in a special ward within a university hospital so more or less an Intensive Care Unit ) and yumeko pays for these fees / bills herself out of her own pocket.
though, going off my previous headcanon that yumeko is the reason for the death of her parents and her sister’s hospitalization, there are no warm feelings between them. if anything, her sister dislikes her and yumeko is indifferent towards her. she pays the bills because she’s her family ( her only living family, at that ) and does it to get it over and done with for when her sister is released, they with both go their separate ways without further contacting one another.
with this stated, and having done a little digging on the web, ICU stays are expensive, and rack up money the longer the stay as more critical condition patients are required to stay longer to become stabilized. the reason for the stay seems to be rather irrelevant as it’s pricey across the board regardless and even then, there’s labor costs, costs for gloves used, food, etc etc. so really, these are pretty pricey bills yumeko is paying for.
I hate rarely, though when I hate, I hate murderously.

it’s time for a headcanon from me in regards to my yumeko! today’s topic is: her stance with the law / anyone in the law enforcement plus other details i need to address so this post will be long, i do apologize!
now, for those unaware, yumeko’s parents are both deceased ( for reasons not yet explained within the manga currently, thus i’ve come to my own speculations on such, which will be explained later on in this post! ) and her elder sister is even hospitalized ( once more, for reasons unexplained currently within the manga. ) what is confirmed is, yumeko is indeed part of the infamous Bami family ( their name as a whole translates to ‘ Hundred Devouring Family ‘ ) and each surname holds Bami within it ( such as Jyabami and Momobami ) and thus made me speculate: are they perhaps of Yakuza origin since again, for those unaware, gambling in this fashion is illegal and the only ones known for gambling in such a fashion is the Yakuza. and even so, the gambling within the school only truly picked up when Kirari Momobami stepped up to being the current Student Council president ( and is even stated she is the one who turned that title into one of absolute power, meaning before her influence, the title held no overwhelming power as it does with her. ) this being stated, this all feels very Yakuza, does it not? a member of the Bami lineage steps in, and twists an originally innocent title to become that of absolute and unchallenged status and power.
now, i move to my next point: status is everything within the school, just as status is everything within the Yakuza. if you are a somebody, you have a easy going time within the school, though if you are a pet, you are the lowest of the low, the butt of the jokes, the errand boy/girl, just your time is hell in comparison to the easy going free nature of the Somebodies. and becoming a Somebody again after becoming a pet is often times seen as impossible ( though, it does happen ) it’s moreso seen as ‘ this is your fate, just roll over and accept it. ‘ Momobami even to those in great debt to the school from their oh so bad luck in the art of gambling offers them life plans, aka a folder with your life pre-planned for you, down to whom you marry, when you marry, when you will conceive a child ( gender is left as ‘ male preferred ‘ ) and even how many children you will conceive.
this still sounds very Yakuza like, doesn’t it? the Bami family even has ‘heads’ of each respective branch yet the overall current head of the family is Kirari Momobami, which evidently angers the family due to her antics and perhaps even the fact she is a woman, regardless of the fact that other family heads are female, it is a typical Yakuza mindset: Women can not lead, Men can lead. Plus, they seem to even battle for the right to be the overall head of the family as shown when Kirari tosses up her President chair for grabs by a gamble based election ( not a surprise it’ll be determined by gambling. )
this is where i start with my own speculation: the family to me is of evident Yakuza lineage. Yumeko’s parents are dead, now, why could that be? I assume they did something to dishonor the family and in turn, were taken out to restore the honor. Her sister was perhaps a target as well considering she is the first born whereas yumeko is confirmed the second born, they perhaps saw yumeko as no threat at the time and that this lesson would be one enough for her to not cross the family again. clearly it didn’t have the impact they desired for she’s tearing apart Kirari’s school system from the inside out.
her view regarding the law and all is relatively simple: she loathes it. she distrusts it. she views it as a wasted effort to trust your well-being to. if you wish to be protected, protect yourself. do not rely on another to protect you, as that only resulted in her parents’ deaths and her elder sister’s injury and hospitalization. police officers? all talk, no action. they’re useless to her.
“I respectfully posit that you are an absolute lowlife”
RP starters: Concern.
“It’s midnight, where the hell were you?!”
“Stop keeping your phone in silent, you got me worried!”
“Blood? Are you bleeding?”
“I don’t like the idea of you walking down the streets all alone.”
“I thought I would never see you again…”
“We should get you to hospital.”
“Where did all those bruises came from?”
“I have the right to be worried!”
“Have you been drinking? You look terrible.”
“Sleep at my place tonight.”
“I don’t feel safe letting you be alone when you’re in that shape.”
“Please talk to me about it.”
“Let me take care of you.”
“You need to rest now. Don’t move.”
“How many times have I told you to not go there?”
“You could’ve died, you know…”
“I don’t care if you don’t want my help, I’ll do it anyways.”
“You really need to stop drinking. I’m serious.”
“This time you got yourself into a hospital. I think that’s a sign.”
“Are you sure you’re okay?”
“You need to stop doing stupid shit like that or you will get yourself killed.”
“I’m your friend, of course I care!”
“You know I’m always here for you, right?”
“You’re not okay.”
“I’m just trying to help you.”
“Let me clean your wounds…”
“Why did you do it? Tell me.”
i’m sorry darling, i never meant to love you; to love you like i do— like a hungry thing that’s always eating. and i’m sorry i have claws claws and teeth and jaws glass shards and broken ribs; all these sharp things that are craving you.
