Wreck of the Day

Addison stood in a derelict corner of the hospital lobby watching the rain bounce off the window. Outside a man was leading his small daughter towards their car, his arm wrapped around her tiny frame sheltering her from the elements. However nothing could have protected either of them from the news Addie had delivered earlier that day The man’s wife and unborn baby had both passed during surgery. The operation itself had been a long shot, a last ditch attempt at a miracle that Addie couldn't provide. Despite this, she had remained hopeful to the last second and the time of death left her mouth. Deep down she knew there was nothing more she could have done . Despite this awareness Addison couldn't help but dwell on the fact whenever that young girl thought of the day her family got ripped apart Addie's face would be the one to appear.

Attempting to compose herself before she was spotted by one of the hopsitals gossip patrol otherwise known as the nurses Addison cleared her throat. Running her hands through her hair, she turned to head towards the neonatal wing. This was the thing about being a surgeon there was very little time to recover from losing a patient before another arrived and the clock reset itself again. Instead the woman who passed on her table would visit her in the next few days via her nightmares.

Colliding with a body in front of her the red head looked up “ Sorry I didn't see you there-- Excuse me” she explained with a small sad smile.

Well that’s a— nice thing to say. If I had to be an accessory to a murder It would have to be one you committed. I would go down for very few people. I just don’t think jail attire would suit me.

Not arrogant, I understand. Remember I’ve been doing the double board certified dance for a while now. It doesn’t get easier you just lean the steps better.

Technically I didn’t say anything about the cupcakes being for her.. In all serious though I wont give her any till tomorrow I promise. I’ve learned my lesson wih that one. The kid has more energy than three others her age combined without the added sugar high

I’ve been blessed enough to see one of Miss Soifia’s performance’s too. The girl has thankfully inherited her mums pip. The whole wrapping her sister round her finger that’s all her daddy’s charm. Our Ella just cant say no, but I suppose if anyone can look good as a snowman its her.

Amelia is taking the little ladies tomorrow night. So am I correct in saying a miracle has occurred and that means we have a Friday night were neither of us are on call and have a babysitter?

Some quality time with my niece followed by wine, sounds like an even better night than I had originally planned. Plus its a perfect excuse to buy those Frozen cupcakes I spotted at the store, when I go to buy us a few bottles of wine later.
