Flipping houses was a recent venture for Leanne. One she was coming to find was a bit harder than she imagined, so it was nice to have Adele working with her. She knew the business side of things in a way Leanne didn’t, and she was eager to learn from the younger woman. Leanne had always loved choosing interiors for her home and felt she had an eye for it. Everyone should have a nice comfortable home they could be proud of, and the state of Eris as it was broke her heart. So she was doing something about it. “Me either! I was a woman possessed. I could lie and say I didn’t enjoy it, but I really did.” She shook her head and laughed. “I was so tired of him stringing Maggie along. No one messes with my babies and gets away with it.” She looked up from the wall she was painting. “I’m just sorry you share DNA with that man. We can divorce him, you can’t. How did you two come from the same gene pool?”

“I would have enjoyed seeing it.” For all the troubles her brother had given her over the years, simply by pretending she did not exist in his life would be worth seeing the woman next to her lose it over him not signing divorce papers. “He has a habit of stringing people along.” There had been a time, in which she thought he was coming around to the idea of her being his younger sister. She never fully understood how Mike could blame her for the death of their mother when she was told it was medical time and time again. Adele just happened to be involved as her mother passed during child birth. And as for their father? Well, Adele always took the blame for that one too. Yet, Mike had seemed like he truly loved his sister, but it was an act, wanted to string her along and in the end, crushed her heart. “I never knew how we came from the same gene pool. It sometimes feels like I’m the odd one out. My other older siblings aren’t as bad as Mike, but it’s not like they want me in their lives either.”

A little smile crossed her face as she was relieved the woman didn’t like her brother either. “He’s definitely something.” She said and shook her head. “I’m glad you’re here though and I’m hope things are well between you and Maggie.” Stevie told her and grinned as she said she and Leanne had talked. “That’s amazing. Mama is truly amazing and you’ll love her. She’ll help you out like you wouldn’t believe.” She promised. “Let me know if you need any little hands. I think my oldest may need to hammer a few stuff this summer.”

“Thank you,” she smiled at the other, “things are well between us, at least I hope they are.” Adele wasn’t entirely sure, having not talked to her since the entire incident with Leanne and Mike. “I don’t want to pressure her into having a relationship with me if she doesn’t want to. I mean, I am related to her ex-husband after all.” And she couldn’t blame the woman if she wanted nothing to do with her. “Yeah?” She smiled at the thought, “Your oldest is welcome any time.” Adele told Stevie, “Tell me about your kids,” she suggested to the other.

“The farmer’s market always tells me what I need and then I always end up spending way more than I need to,” she laughed. It was bad, and she just couldn’t stop herself when it came to the little homemade items and fruits and vegetables. “Hi, Adele! I’m Olivia, but please call me Liv, I usually just go by the nickname.” She always had ever since she was small. Then, she shrugged her shoulders. “Well, technically yes. I think my mother would say that my entire family is from New York but we spent a on of time here so I basically grew up here. Eventually, my family settled down here and I’ve been here ever since. What about you?”

“Don’t they say the same thing about Targets, right?” She laughed, knowing the moment all too well. “It doesn’t matter where I’m at, any farmer’s market I’ve been to has been that same way.” Adele admitted to the other with a shake of her head, “Liv, a pleasure to meet you,” she smiled at her again, “Oh wait, wait, Liv!” Adele grinned at her, “I’m working with your mom,” she told her, “I’ve been helping her finish up some houses she flipped and she’s helping me out at Dog River Motel,” she explained to her, realizing that Liv was Leanne’s daughter. It truly was a small world in Fallbrook. “I’ve only been here a few short months,” she answered her question, “I didn’t think I’d end up wanting to stick around after renovating Dog River Motel, but I think I might end up staying now.”

Arielle didn’t expect the Pit Stop to be busy since usually people spent their Thursdays at the Barnyard but here she was squeezing through a sea of residents to get to the bar. She couldn’t wait for the day that Owen came home because she was dying to head home to a less quiet apartment. She leaned against the bar and asked for a drink but before she could really get a grip on the glass being placed in front of her someone was being pushed into her. She knew that when she stumbled back she hit someone as well. “Sorry,” she called out to the person behind her as she turned her head to look over at the men who were pushing one another. Rolling her eyes, the brunette adjusted her top. “Men,” she huffed with a low chuckle. “I am tempted to try and find somewhere else to get a quiet drink but I’m alright and you?” She asked as she reached out, grabbing her glass.

“Men indeed,” Adele couldn’t help but match the woman’s chuckle with one of her own. Adele, single and having recently run into her ex-husband did not have tolerance for dealing with men, especially not after they were having regard for anyone else in the bar. “I’m just as tempted,” she nodded her head to the woman’s suggestion, “I’m alright,” Adele told her, “more annoyed than anything. “is there anywhere quiet to get a drink or are we going to have to endure this madness for a drink?”

“I hope not. I’ll fight to make sure it doesn’t.” Stevie was really liking this woman and she would help as much as she could to make her feel welcomed and help her business. “Kinda, yeah.” Stevie laughed before her eyes widened as the woman said Maggie’s name. “Maggie? You’re Mike’s sister?” She asked before nodding. “Well, I can’t blame you if…” She stopped herself. She knew a bit about how Mike could be and this woman was so sweet. She couldn’t imagine her being like that, but didn’t want to speak ill of anyone. “Does she know you’re in town?” She asked curiously. “Of course. I’m happy to do it.”

“Yeah,” she grimaced at the thought of being called that. It was a familiar saying from back in high school as well. As the youngest, she was always Mike’s sister, not having a real identity for herself. “don’t worry,” she had a feeling the woman didn’t care for Mike or at the very least, knew Maggie, “I know what a piece of shit my brother is,” she had heard more than her share in the recent weeks she had been in town. More than she ever knew about her brother. “I did run into her,” she nodded her head, “I’m happy to have started to get to know her more. Leanne and I are actually starting to renovate some places down in Eris together, too.”

Getting involved with Leanne Rhodes was probably one of the best things to happen for Adele since her arrival in Fallbrook a few short months ago. Both women were in the business of flipping. While Adele tended to flip motels and small businesses, finding out Leanne was doing houses, she couldn’t help but want to get involved. And well, it didn’t help that they had already been connected by the fact Maggie was married to her brother. “I can’t believe you did that,” she said as she thought about Leanne threatening her brother. Yet, despite it being her brother, it brought a smile to her face, “and yet, I’m severely disappointed I wasn’t there to see it. I hate that I didn’t see it sooner but he’s always been a piece of shit.”

After spending a full day in Eris starting to renovate some apartments in the area with Leanne Rhodes, Adele decided to end her evening with a much needed drink. She ordered at the bar, heading toward a table when she spotted a familiar brunette woman she had run into not only a few weeks ago. “Well, well, well,” she approached with a smile on her lips. “If it isn’t my beautiful girlfriend,” she teased with their now running joke of being in a relationship. Had it not been for the other woman playing along to her a few weeks back, she would have been subjected to the inappropriate pick up lines of men that couldn’t take a hint.

Javier turned his head to look over at her, a sly smirk crossing over his features as he glanced down towards her lips for a second as she offered up her name. It had only been a few days since his break up with Stevie and his old fuckboy ways were creeping up the more his eyes drank in the brunette next to him. “Nice to meet you, Adele.” He cleared his throat, turning his head to face the glass of whiskey being placed in front of him. “It’s on and off. For some reason it feels like these places are getting more and more busier.” He told her as he adjusted himself on his stool to create a little more room for her as he looked over at her again. “You new in town?”

“It’s a nice place” not a place she was typically used to going, but Adele was growing used to Fallbrook and it’s unique charm. “I am new in town,” she nodded her head, unable to keep her eyes off of him. After her run in with Jonas, the man sitting next to her might be just what she needed. It hadn’t been much of an event, but after all those years of not talking to or seeing Jonas and running into him at a bar, it had given her a run for her money. The feelings were long gone for him but there had been a rise of emotions during their talk, part of her wondering what their lives would look like if she hadn’t left. “I just bought Dog River Motel,” she explained to him, “plan on getting it renovated.”

A laugh came from the male at her comment. “Maybe not a push up contest then. I don’t even think I’d qualify for that either.” He told her, a small smile coming onto his face again. Bryan nodded at her kind words. “Thank you, I tried to think of something people would enjoy but also wouldn’t bankrupt me y’know?” Bryan muttered, feeling like he was blabbering on about the prize for much longer than needed. When she grabbed his hand, Bryan gently shook hers back and then released it, letting his hand fall back to his side. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Adele.” The feeling of his hands idly by his sides caused him to keep wondering what to do with them. The man felt the nerves creep back in and finally decided to fold his arms across his chest. He figured that was casual…right? “Oh, um, well I guess first you love chemistry and math and then you try to find a career out of that.” He answered and shrugged a little, letting a small chuckle out as well.

“No contest is good,” she laughed, though she knew others would actually appreciate a push-up contest given the chance. There was always someone out there wanting to prove their strength to someone else. Adele was not particularly someone that would do that. “That makes sense,” she nodded her head to his words, “I think you did great, it’s very on par with the whole theme of the entire festival.” Adele gestured with a smile on her lips. A smile grew as he spoke of the path that led him to the pharmacist lifestyle, “Well, see that makes sense to me but I never really thought about it that way before.” She told him with a smile, “Math and chemistry were never really my strong suits growing up,” she admitted to him, “especially in college, I tried my hand at organic chemistry and promptly changed my major.”

Cooking was something that Olivia loved to do, so the farmer’s market at the Cherry Blossom Festival was a place she had wandered into to see what kind of things she could get in terms of fruits and vegetables. Making her way closer to the booth that had some nice looking oranges, Liv was caught off guard when someone nearly bumped into her. Waving the apology off, the brunette let out a laugh. “It’s totally fine, don’t worry about it! It’s so easy to get distracted at this place. There’s so much to look at with all of these booths.”

“There really is,” she smiled at the other as she waved off her apology, “I didn’t think it was possible to get distracted at the farmer’s market, but here I am, being proven wrong.” Adele admitted with a soft laugh, “I really didn’t expect there to be so much with everything else happening but I was mistaken in the best way possible.” The brunette wasn’t going to turn down having more to look at, more to buy. “I’m Adele,” she offered an introduction to the woman, “I have to imagine you are from here because pretty much everyone I met is, but,” she laughed again, “I don’t want to assume.”

“Have I ever told you I love the way you think?” Maya mused with a laugh. She and Adele were like minded especially when Maya was in fun mode! Even thought she hadn’t known the woman long they quickly became friends with her arrival to Fallbrook. “Let’s get ourselves one of those trusty wristbands then,” she directed them near the fence that separated everyone from 21+ area where the drinks lay beyond. “And then I can totally kick your ass in some of these games!”

“You haven’t but that’s good to know,” Adele grinned at the other as she let out a soft laugh. “Oh absolutely, so much better than having to whip out your ID at every bar stand,” she noted as she followed Maya toward the fence area that ideally was to keep those under twenty-one out of the designated area. “Oh you think?” Adele raised her brows teasingly, “We definitely will see how that goes because I think that I can be pretty good at these games. I mean, sure it’s been ten years since I’ve played any, but, I still think I can kick your ass.”

Maya was a fan of any day where she was off, but she especially loved it when it was because of a town event. Unlike some other business owners she decided to step back on being on duty for a booth and instead enjoy what the festival had to offer. “So where to first?” she smiled turning towards Adele as they walked past various things going on. Their first stop had been drinks and once that was secured the fun could begin.

Adele had taken an immediate liking to Maya when she first arrived to town and was happy to enjoy the other woman’s company during the festival activities. “Okay, I’m thinking drinks first,” she paused, “games, more drinks and food and games?” Adele suggested in a trailing of ideas, “or something involving all of those things.” She laughed, shaking her head. “But definitely drinks first. That much I do know.”

Bryan laughed along with her, trying to ease his nerves. He wondered why he felt so nervous around women. “Yes, easy enough at least I hope.” He commented lamely, repeating her words. The man smiled at her as she dropped the slip of paper into the egg. “Alright, I appreciate the feedback. I suppose next year I should have people do a push up or something…” He was joking around then realized he never told her what she was even doing the drawing for. “Uh, yes, I am. Speaking of pharmacist….” He trailed off, thinking that wasn’t the smoothest transition but it would work. “The prize for the drawing is a $50 dollar gift card to the pharmacy.” Bryan said with a shake of his head. “I’m sorry, I seem to be really scatter-brained today. I’m Bryan.” He finally just decided to introduce himself, holding a hand out for her to shake. ‘Did people still shake hands?’ he wondered to himself.

“Oh, well if it’s a push-up contest, I might lose that.” She teased, “I do not have great upper body strength,” she admitted to the other with a light-hearted laugh. “That’s a good gift,” she smiled at him, “I look forward to potentially winning,” she continued on. Of course, if she didn’t win, was it the end of the world? Not at all. The contest itself, reminded her that she should do similar raffles at Dog River Motel after she finished renovating it. “Pleasure to meet you, Bryan,” she shook his hand as he held it out, “I’m Adele.” She introduced herself in return. “So, how does a person get into being a pharmacist?” Adele raised her brow curiously, “I’m sorry if that is invasive but I’ve always been curious.”

Bryan chuckled slightly at her reaction and found himself nervous in front of the woman. It was like since his divorce and becoming single he felt the pressure being around women and basically lost his common sense. He watched her grab a keychain and smiled again at the stranger. “Oh, you don’t have to do anything.” He answered her, walking over to the oversized egg and the slips of paper. “I mean, you do have to do something. But, er just put your name and number down on the paper and place it in the egg.” Bryan explained to the woman.

“Oh, well,” she laughed as he corrected himself. “that sounds easy enough to me.” Adele said to him as he walked over to the egg with the slips of paper. Walking over to them, she took a piece of paper, writing down her name and phone number to place into the egg. “Well, that’s the easiest thing I’ve ever had to do to ever be considered for a prize.” Adele joked lightly as she handed off the piece of paper to the oversized Easter Egg. “So, I have to guess you are the local pharmacist around here,” she said, “I’ve been trying to keep track of everyone, but I’m going to have to start writing things down at this rate.”

Being the owner and pharmacist for the only pharmacy in town, Bryan knew having a booth at the festival made sense. Most locals knew him from some point of seeing him behind the counter handing over their prescriptions. He had a simple canopy booth up set up with two tables under the shade of it. Bryan placed candy for the kids and an oversized Easter egg where he was encouraging people to enter their name and phone number for a $50 dollar gift card for his business. On the other table, he set out some medical pamphlets and business cards along with some key chains and pens that had the pharmacy’s information on it. Bryan tried speaking to everyone that came near his booth, trying to encourage him to sign up for the raffle. “Excuse me, ma’am, wouldn’t you like to win a prize?” He asked the woman passing by with a smile on his face. Realizing how odd that might sound to a stranger, he quickly added, “I mean, I’m doing a drawin’ for my pharmacy and you’re welcome to sign up for it.”

Adele, being new in town, didn’t know everyone that was around. She had spent the better half of the day exploring the Cherry Blossom Festival and all it had to offer. As she rounded the corner, she began to pass by another booth when the vendor operator called out to her. Adele turned with a smile, “Win a prize?” Raising a brow, she spotted the oversized Easter egg. Back tracking toward the booth, she grabbed a keychain from the table, setting it in her purse. If she was planning on sticking around town, she was certain she would need to utilize the pharmacy at some point. “What do I got to do?” She smiled up at him.

Adele had been exploring to her heart’s content. She had never seen anything quite like this. She had taken the morning to plant cherry blossom trees, opting to put a few before her new motel in Eris. It needed some beautification on the outside, just as much as the motel needed on the inside. She hoped it would bring some future beauty as they grew in the next several years. Adele wandered around the market, picking up a few things here and there. Decorative soaps would be a nice touch to gift baskets to raffle off in the motel, or even in the bathrooms. She had so many ideas and didn’t know where to start. Adele moved through the farmer’s market, a booth catching her eye. She had already been walking past it when she realized she wanted to stop, nearly clipping someone else with her basket. “Oh, gosh, I am so sorry. I got too ahead of myself,” she quickly apologized to the other.
