⋆⭒˚.⋆ Summary - As Jonathan Joestar and Hazen Brando make their way through the Ogre street to attain medicine for their sick father, they run into a group of bad guys and have a brawl with them, eventually ending up with Speedwagon admiring their effort, including Hazen having a strange reunion with a rebellious delinquent woman.
⋆⭒˚.⋆ Bernadette laid against the building wall as she smoked her cigarette, cracking small jokes with Speedwagon in the cold night.
All of a sudden they spotted two men, one of them with blue hair dressed in a nicely snug green outfit, the second one with a dirty blonde color to his hair, he was wearing a comfortable red coat that was fit for the chilly snow, noticeably having small amount of makeup on his face.
“Oi, looks like we got ourselves some fresh meat.” Bernadette said, a wicked grin growing on her face.
“They sure do look sparkly, rich folk I bet.” Speedwagon said.
“They made a big mistake comin’ over here.” A female delinquent said.
Speedwagon whistled for the rest of his delinquent groups, they all chased towards the two brothers, chanting threats.
As the first man was about to stab Jonathan in the stomach, Jonathan manage to stop him by grabbing the blade with his fingers, willingly risking the loss of a few of his finger limbs to carry on.
Bernadette had to admit, that was a very bold move.
While one of the gang members were trying to take care of Jonathan, Bernadette decided to go after Hazen as he fought off a few of the goons that were after them.
She took out two daggers and threw it at his direction, Hazen eventually dodging the weapons on a very close call.
Bernadette ran straight for Hazen, she was able to take a hard kick and a punch to him before Hazen managed to keep up with her blows and dodge them.
“Just to let you know sweetheart, it won’t be so easy trying to defeat me.” Hazen said, determination in his eyes.
“You got spunk, but can you hold out for long?” Bernadette said with a grin.
After a brief moment of brawl, the both of them got tired, a few cuts on their body, turns out both of them were starting not to hold out for long, but Hazen was still striving to fight as long as he could, just so he can help out his father with the help of his step-brother Jonathan.
“Damn, he ain’t giving up…” Bernadette said under her breath.
As Bernadette looked at Hazen again, a realization struck her. She seems to recognize him a bit…someone from her childhood she suppose?
12-year-old Bernadette walked along the grass on a bright morning wearing a nice tailored vest and narrow trousers, her hair put into ponytails. She sneaked out of the house so she could take a break from hearing her abusive father once again yelling verbal insults at her mother for whatever reason, she was tired of her father’s nonsense.
As the girl walked, she witnessed a male getting made fun of by a few other boys. Apparently, they were talking about the boy falling outside of the gender norm by being “too girly” as he often wore frilly dresses in public with confidence, he looked detached and didn’t say anything to them.
Bernadette became annoyed, she thought to herself that it’s not right to pick on someone regardless of how they present themselves. She somewhat related to his problems, people in her life judged her for acting like a tomboy.
Bernadette picked up a few stones and threw it at the boys.
“Hey, get away from him you chumps!” Bernadette yelled out.
She kept hitting them, the boys cursed out and ran away as the small stones she threw overpowered them. She then walked over the Hazen.
Hazen started to giggle, it was kind of funny seeing them run away.
“Hi, did they hurt you?” Bernadette said with concern.
“No thankfully, since my brother isn’t around they thought it was the perfect time to tease me.” Hazen said with a saddened face expression.
“Don’t listen to them, they’re just really mean. I never liked them neither.” Bernadette said as she rolled her eyes, recalling the moments where they teased others for stupid things.
“A lot of people say things about me when I wear stuff like this.” Hazen said.
Bernadette looked at him with empathy, she felt bad.
“I think you look pretty, boys can be pretty too.” Bernadette said with a smile.
Hazen was slightly flushed, no one ever called him pretty before, he smiled as-well.
“Thank you, it’s new hearing that.” He said.
Bernadette nodded, another boy then called out for Hazen.
“Hazen, where are you? Father is looking for you.” Dio Brando said.
“Oh, I’m coming!” Hazen said.
As Hazen walked along with his brother, he waved to Bernadette, she simply waved back to him. She then walked off back home, she forgot to ask for his name but they were both too far gone from the area to go back and see him, she never saw him again after that.
She then came back to reality.
“Hey, we’re you that boy who got picked on for wearing dresses?” Bernadette said.
“Well, I always did tend to get teased for how I dressed, so yes.” Hazen said.
“Do you somehow remember a girl throwing rocks at a couple of boys who were making fun of you? Anytime from your childhood?” Bernadette said.
“Mhm, I do, that was one of the rarest times someone ever defended me for who I am. But…how do you know this information?” Hazen said.
“Because I was that person who called you pretty, at least for the first time as you said it yourself.” Bernadette said.
Hazen’s eyes widened, he had to think for a moment, is this woman really that girl? He’s twenty years old now, it’s been 8 years since that happened.
“You have purple hair just like she did…it’s you.” Hazen said.
And suddenly, Bernadette doesn’t want to fight him anymore.
“Hey, what’re ya doing Bernadette, send him to pound town!” A gang member yelled.
Bernadette looked back at Hazen, then looking back at the gang member.
Then, Speedwagon called out.
“Hold it, don’t lay a finger on the gentleman. And leave the man he’s journeying with alone too!” He said.
Bernadette sighed, relieved that she doesn’t have to worry about a moral dilemma situation.
Speedwagon started to talk about how Jonathan and his brother managed to give him and his friends mercy even while they proposed a huge threat to them, admiring their effort.
Speedwagon then offered to help out Jonathan and Hazen in what plans they were up too.
“So, you’re a bastard delinquent now?” Hazen said with a grin.
“You could say that, I’ve been one for most of my early life. Maybe we should get to know each-other?” Bernadette said.
“I’d like that idea.” Hazen said.
