"The Mirror"
My first "The Phantom of the Opera" illustration for my MA project
Didn't have the opportunity to say this during my thesis defense so will do this here. You will see it in the next illustrations but all of the frames are the same but a bit different at the same time. And the different detail is the angel on the top of the frame. So my idea was that the angel is some kind of symbolic personification of Erik (Angel of Music you know...yeah i made that too literally) anyway the idea was to depict his presence even when he is not on the illustration or the chapter. He is omnipresent like some kind of the Opera "deity"(i don't like this word in that context but i cannot recall anything else)/spirit (at least this how he perceived by the ballet rats and the workers of the theatre). Like even when the viewer/reader cannot see him, the Phantom in fact is here inside my mind, reacting to what's happening around the building in different ways like some kind of viewer/reader as well(you'll see it i promise+maybe i'll make a post with all of the angel's faces)
This writing is kinda messy and English is not muy first language so yeah i'm afraid to even think about the amount of mistakes i've made (i did that explanation much better in Ukrainian lol but i need to find the text so maybe the translation would be better idk) there but i hope you've got the idea because even though it's just a small detail it's kinda important (at least personally for me lol)
Erik.

Iâm leaving tumblr Iâve decided.
I see no purpose in staying here, nor does it give me any meaningful information anymore. I thank you for whatever kindness youâve shown me. Iâm afraid I see it as all rather like being in a zoo objectified for entertainment.
So, humans, good bye. Iâm sure some of you will be glad to be rid of me. Charming.
I will hold this place, to keep the name from being misused, but I will no longer be checking the inbox. Nor will I even have the app on my phone. Youâre too childish and toxic.
So do not expect a reply from me. Apologies for inconveniencing you.
May you know yourself fully, give yourself no mercy, and aim for the next best thing. May you always be forced to accept the congratulations for all your good deeds. And may you get everything you wish for.
You deserve it.

Gracias por todo Simon.
Hello Simon, I hope it's alright to ask for advice. These past few months, I've struggled significantly with moving through my everyday life as I watch the genocide in Palestine. I've watched it all my life, but this is unparalleled. I've been turning frequently to history to find some comfort or a blueprint on how to respond, how to resist as community. I wanted to ask you, as someone who has seen humanity at its worst so many times, do you know how a person might keep faith in a better future?
When the camps were liberated during the war, and I saw for the first time, the carnage of it all, I felt a mixture of feelings, and rage was one. Another was guilt, that I hadnât done something other than abstain. But I couldnât fight another war. Even for a good cause. Humans trifle with life because they never actually believe they can die. And some seek any pleasure they can findâweak little children.
Iâve hated your species my entire life
But then againâŠI remember the rebellions, the revolutions, the drastic shifts in short periods. I remember art and technology. I remember that there is always a bigger picture. I remember after the great fire, so much destruction, but so few lives lost. I remember how people helped one another. I remember friends I have had, great moments of change, the poetry of your thoughts.
I have lived your species my entire life.
Humanity is not in defiance of nature. Itâs not moving past it. Itâs fulfilling it, and it will either rise, or it will fall silent. That is something each of you must decide separately.
I worry that your culture has become so disheartened and selfish, that it isnât possible for people to have the courage they will need, but reallyâŠIâm not sure I blame them.
You must find the anger. The righteous fury. You must find the will to be furious and consistent and troublesome. Do EVERYTHING. And then remember how much your actions impact others you cannot even imagine.
I never thought people would ask me for advice when I published, but then it began happening. As many horrible traumatic stories Iâve heard preceding questions, I have just as many thanking me for taking it seriously. I did not expect to mean anything to anyone, but I have seen that it is possible to affect people I never knew I could.
I think back on my life and reexamine moments, and I wonderâŠhow often did I affect someone without noticing and how might it have changed history?
Your actions, even the small ones, have weight, but you cannot do the action to receive immediate payback. You must pursue it because itâs right, and youâre ready for the long road.
Hopelessness stops action. Anger fuels it, so long as you can harness it and give it task after task. Listen to the weak, not the strong. Listen to the poor and the starving. Learn how to think rationally, systematically. To be critical. Help because you can and because itâs right. And as someone greater than I once said, look for the other helpers.

What do you mean you have several humans? Are you polyamorous?
Iâm not human. I spread my affection as I see fit. Not sure that counts as amorous.
I simply enjoy people to varying degrees
Sometimes Simon can act quite amorous. Wanna know a secret? When heâs really comfy and at peace he kneads his feet like a cat making biscuits. Itâs very cute

I love this
Zionism is propaganda, and for decades it has been doing its level best to conceal all facts related to Israelâs ethnic cleanings. Yes more than one. They forcibly sterilized Ethiopian Jews. Palestinians have been in the area for thousands of years, mentioned even by Roman historians, while Jews were originally from the Abrahamic line out of Iraq. The British gave them the region because they didnât want Jews anymore than anyone else. Ever since WWI this has been growing.
Ask yourself why Israel makes it illegal to talk about the dispelling of the Palestinians. Why is the Nakba unspeakable? What donât they want to recall?
Al Jazeera is not a Hamas mouthpiece, nor does Hamas have tunnels beneath hospitals. Itâs all garbage easily dispelled by those who work for Doctors Without Borders.
Donât believe the death toll? Itâs independently confirmed by several organizations like UNICEF.
This is a war crime, according to the 33 article of the Geneva convention. This is precisely what Nazis did to Jews.
This is a genocide.
Do not let anyone persuade you otherwise. Hamas doesnât exist in a vacuum. Hamas wonât stop existing as long as Israel keeps terrorizing the Hamas of tomorrow by murdering their families. Terrorism stops when needs are met.
Free Palestine.
Simon, thank you for the kind words you gave me three years ago. It meant a lot to me and it means a lot to me now. Things aren't as bad as they were then anymore, and I am striving to do better everyday. Thank you for đ-lieving in me. I've found something to enjoy, I'm making one change at a time, doing my best to be kinder to myself and to those around me.
You're such a wonderful being. Thank you for you.
- S.K.
It seems self-serving to say youâre welcome. Instead I will say thank you and I am glad something I said made a difference.
The truth is, my friend, life IS chaos. It is all those things you donât want and do, all happening at once or never when you need them. You have to think of it like a giant sea, and you are treading water, but itâs not difficult. You can float. You just have to get the knack for it and with time, the ebb and flow of good and bad and everything elseâŠwill educate you on its patterns.
You are already scheduled for death. Donât worry about that at all. Worry about living, experiencing, trying everything. Even the scary things.
Always look for perspective. Zoom out. Think about the eternity of time. Ponder history. Always remember youâre still here. Nothing has stopped you yet.
Iâm proud of you.
I donât need to explain to you that all that is happening has happened before.
How to stop it:
Donât shut up. Donât sit down. Donât stop arguing. Call them what they are. Point out their bigotry. Make them own their poor behavior and hypocrisy. Be the annoying person no one wants to invite because every conversation turns into a lecture on not deriving people of freedom. Be loud. Be angry. Be militant. Do not follow unjust laws and provide help to those fleeing them. Be everything they donât want you to be and then be it in their face.
That is what wins culture issuesâovertly demonstrating the culture has changed without their help and rejects their attempts to infect it.
I am being completely serious.
It doesnât ever have to be a war or end in death for anyone. As long as you donât shut up. Donât back down. Donât stop emailing or calling. Donât stop retesting. Donât stop demanding equality and equity. Donât stop.
Stamina is always the winner. Always.
They have money, power, reach, but they donât have passion or numbers or stamina.
You do, because harsh reality has been buffing you over for decades. Your difficulties make you better than them, so use what theyâve forced on you. Outlast them. Never stop.
Do not accept no for an answer.
Thatâs how you win. Thatâs how we stop this once and for all. Social media, connectedness is changing how everything works.
We are greater than them in every way. We will win, by virtue of remaining true to who we are. Be outspoken.
Bravery is what happens when you move through the fear and say, âthis is what I must do. This is what is necessary.â
Do not stop.
Hello Simon, i come seeking your advice because you are old and wise. Today i had a brief interaction with a stranger which i afterwards suspect might've been a homophobic microaggression due to my appearance (which it something not too ostentatious however, my hair is just very short and my fashion style is a little less feminine than what is currently popular) and now i am sad. How do i emotionally distance myself from this? I don't want to be sad due to meaningless bigotry from a stranger.
Get angry.
Think about how to respond to similar things next time.
It is so so easy to be kind and open minded, and they canât even manage that. Theyâre grown. They never learned. Really? What an insulated privileged existence to never have to learn to coexist.
Unacceptable. How dare theyâsuch peopleâdemand compliance from one as wonderful as you?
Absurd. Disgusting.
Next time, you gray rock. Pretend you have no idea what theyâre saying. Make them explain it. Make them Own their behavior.
Remember that bullies are never saying ANYTHING about their target. Theyâre only ever telling the world their faces, weaknesses, concerns, self consciousness, theyâre showing us their abuses and hurts caused them. Theyâre showing how broken they are. Force them to meet a blank wall of disappointment.

I want to tell you a secret about autism.
It appears to be very strongly linked with connective tissue hypermobility and by virtue of that, overlap with pain conditions.
There are common skeletal postural issues in hypermobile people, most of which are alleviated by specific exercises. One of these is engaging and activating the diaphragm to help correct orientation of muscles deep to neck and shoulder.
The diaphragm is very strongly engaged in the act of singing at full voice.
Ergo: if you are autistic, you should sing more, for your health
(Also if youâre bendy)
The binary both in culture and biology is a myth and âwomanâ is made up. Itâs a gender, a set of things that one shows as a sign they classify themselves as woman. Thatâs it.
Does this place exist still? Are there people here? Does anyone still see my posts?
Letâs have fun.

Tell me why humans can physically and surgically alter their bodies to show off their beliefs (circumcisision, tattoos and piercings) their aesthetic preferences (a more straight smile or nose) to attract a mate like a bird (boobs butts tummy tucks, lifts) to be thinner, etc etc, but itâs somehow bad when trans people do it to feel less suicidal.
To me the latter reason is in fact the most valid.
Yet if someone has a surgical procedure to live six months longer, like having a tumor removed, we call them heroes.
So surgery to live longer is fine, but not if youâre trans.
Why?
Why?
Really. Why.
Why do you care so god damn much?
Itâs disgusting hypocrisy counter to reason. Itâs bigotry thinly disguised by falsehoods of spooky ominous trans people.
Iâve been a monster my entire life and trans people are treated worse than I am. Iâve slept in a graveyard more times than I can count. I could do it now safely and legally, but a trans person canât pee in public in a locked room while minding their own business.
Humans are mad. TERFs are the new torch carrying mobs. And trans people are the latest creature in the tower.
Count me out of the bonfire.
I disguised what I was to hide. Trans people are braver than even I. TERFism isnât feminism. It does nothing but reduce women to their genitals and femininity to a reflection of fate rather than an expression of identity.
Bigotry makes terrible people. Trust me. They live very shallow and empty lives. They see no complexity, no great tapestry, no fugues. No overlapping subtle patterns, no profound awe. They do not see reality. They see themself everywhere all the time, themselfâbeing rejected or embraced over and over. Itâs just feedback. They are robotic sensory response automata.
The only thing a tolerant person cannot tolerate is intolerance. Itâs a paradox, so make a choice. I choose to reject intolerance. Therefore, those who are intolerant must be rejected. TERFs lack understanding. They lack compassion. They lack willingness to learn or think outside their own rigid ideas of themself. Therefore I reject them.
Itâs very very sadâŠand incredibly boring.
Transphobes live in their own hell. Sadly they rarely realize it until itâs too late. Some might think that fine karma.
I certainly do.
