Here's this month's reroot!

It's my second Midge-sculpt P.J. head--the other one is staying as she is. I wanted to explore the idea of "What if Mattel had kept using the Midge sculpt for P.J., instead of switching to Steffie?" I feel like Midge P.J. could have continued in a sort of eccentric (but fashionable) way, so would have gotten a sort of "Marcia Wallace on The Bob Newhart Show" short curly hairstyle. (Only I don't think early 1970s Mattel would have done it in purple.)

I did the reroot with hair cut off of another doll, although I'm not sure which--it's very possible someone gave me the hair. It's light purple saran, and it ended up being rather short, but still just long enough to wrap around drinking straws. I followed the general gist of curler set patterns, for short tousled curls, from this.

Since it's saran, I expected the curls to not do much, so I left the head in the just-boiled water until it reached room temperature, then I let it dry overnight. I knew, in theory, that this is how you get a good set in saran, but I'd never actually done it before... You can see how well the curls did set!

Then I Dremeled out her neck opening so it would work with a tilt-neck body and put her on a Curvy Extra. Someday I'll make some early 1970s influenced clothes for her, but, for now, she's wearing things from the doll clothes stash. The pattern for the Curvy size bodysuit and low-rise A-line skirt are both here.

I enjoyed hokum soooo much lol certified mediocre horror LOVER I want to kiss it on the mouth. that said it IS extremely standard by the numbers fare right down to the redemptive ending shared by At Minimim 60% of horror movies which is specifically what makes the hashtag hopecore posting so galling. at last a hollywood studio churned out a film with a pat hopeful ending… groundbreaking

technically a happy ending is I guess less of an absolute given in horror so it’s not as irredeemably silly as the hopecore posting about like superman or hail mary or whatever. but it’s more annoying to me personally and that’s what we as a society need to address
