Since there's only one doll left on my wishlist, I thought I'd cast the net once more. I know they're rare and tumblr isn't the hot spot for bjds anymore, but it never hurts to try.
I am looking for an Angel Region Present/Romantic Ren, the version of Ren with the half-closed eyes.
I don't care if it's the original release or the more recent Soom re-release, either is fine. I don't care if it's just the head. I don't care if it's damaged, yellowed, has a damaged faceup or no faceup. Honestly condition is not an issue so long as it's not been modded too much (it still has to have the original facial features).
I'm hesitant to put down an exact dollar amount here, but I am more than willing to pay fairly. I've been looking for this doll for almost two decades. If you have one you're willing to sell, or even any leads on one for sale, please please let me know!
Thanks for looking!
The best picnic of the season :)
Seattle Central College is trying to close the only public wood tech college in the state of Washington, which is one of if not the only avenue into woodworking trades for people who usually aren't hired to be trained on-site: queer, trans, neurodivergent and disabled students, and women. Which is exactly what most of the students in the program are.
The reason according to the college is that they want to sell the building to fix the school's budget; they also claim the wood tech college has a severe budget deficit, but they've failed to follow through on any promises to try to fix that (including hiring a permanent dean, so the school has someone to advocate for them... which they haven't had in at least a decade).
The reason according to some students & staff is that Seattle College's VP has a grudge against the lead carpentry instructor & has been trying to get her program shut down for years to get rid of her.
Students are trying to make some noise about it, in hopes that the college backs down and they can work towards the long-term fixes Seattle College keeps failing to follow through on.
The future is unclear for one of the Puget Sound region’s only comprehensive training programs for carpentry and boatbuilding.
If you can sign this little petition & share this around, it'd help the school out a ton!
It shows the school they're going to get pushback, which has changed their mind about this in the past.
Save Wood Technology Center's 90 year Legacy
It would be really cool if we could help get this to 1k!
There are less than 200 students at the wood tech college, so makes a really big impact when anyone else signs and shows that people outside of just students really care about this.
There were like 230 signatures when I first posted this- I'm really grateful to everyone who's already helped out. It means a lot!
Hi everyone. If you signed this, you're in the news!!
More than 2,000 people have signed a petition calling on Seattle Colleges not to put the 23rd Ave Wood Technology Center on the chopping blo
They even link to it later in the article.
This really is one of those cases where every little bit of effort has a HUGE impact. This program is tiny, and Seattle Colleges is expecting it to disappear quietly. Every signature makes it more obvious that isn't going to happen, and that makes it harder for them to follow through on closing & selling the school.
These numbers have also been a huge surprise to the students working to fight this-- they didn't expect this many signatures at all, and it's incredibly encouraging to see so much support for their efforts from the wider community.
Thank you so much for signing! (and please keep going!!)
This is almost at 4k signatures- which is a lot more than anyone expected it to get! Thanks to everyone for signing & spreading this, it's one of the most successful tools the WTC has in this fight right now.
If folks can keep spreading this around & adding signatures, it would mean a lot!!

Horu likes her gift but reminds me that Grumpy Bear is not Gloomy Bear.
The brown earth, the torn, blasted earth, with a greasy shine under the sun's rays; the earth is the background of this restless, gloomy world of automatons, our gasping is the scratching of a quill, our lips are dry, our heads are debauched with stupor--thus we stagger forward...

I feel a sudden need to bring some important, clarifying information to people. Mostly artists who love drawing murder shrimp.
There are two kinds of crustaceans that are called "shrimp" that use concussive force via cavitation bubbles as a weapon.
These are Pistol Shrimp, a group of actual shrimp, and Mantis Shrimp, which are not actually shrimp but they are the ones you probably think of when you hear "murder shrimp" and "shrimp colors" (specifically the Peacock Mantis, bc there's a lot of species for both.)
I'm not annoying enough to grumble about the mantis being called a murder shrimp, because "murder stomatopod" is objectively a less fun combination of words.
HOWEVER!! People keep drawing mantis murder shrimp with pistol shrimp claws. They are not the same claws!! They are not used the same way!!! I will explain!!!!
Pistol shrimp: A number of shrimp species which have one big megachad claw and one dinky normal one.
The dactyl, or movable part of the large claw, is snapped shut with so much force that it shoots a cavitation bubble out with a very loud snap that can stun prey or scare off predators. It's very fucking cool.
As cool as that is, there is a reason that the mantis shrimp is what most people think of when they read "murder shrimp."
This is the Peacock Mantis Shrimp. Which is not a shrimp, but a stomatopod.
(In a lot of pictures it appears like they're staring intently at the camera. They probably are, because they are alarmingly intelligent.)
Note that it doesn't seem to have the big classic claws, and that's becaus it doesnt. Please stop drawing a shrimp claw on them. Their "claw" appendages are kept tucked up, praying mantis style.
These are a raptorial appendage that do have a sharp bit, but that sharp point has adapted to add support to the club end. They use the club to punch the shit out of things. They do punch so hard that they create a cavitation bubble, but the punch is the main deal.
If you look up a mantis shrimp puncher you may find this image, but they rarely if ever fold out fully past the punching part.
The second common mistake on mantis drawings is from mixing up two types of mantis shrimp. There are punchers, which includes the peacock mantis, and stabbers. You can guess what they do.
Fun fact! The peacock mantis is the largest puncher species, maxing out at 6-7 inches. Some of the stabber species, such as a zebra mantis can get 11 inches. This is because the peacock mantis is as big as it can get before it would shatter itself with the force of its punch!
This has been the marine biologist PSA.
Please stop putting the wrong claw on a peacock mantis.
