I think on some level? He understands this. But he also feels that he is above it-- that divinity is in violence: That the way of beasts is the only truth in the world: to kill until something kills you. If he weren’t entirely blind to the suffering of others as anything but a ‘natural’ result of the weakness he perceives in them, he would feel bad, maybe even repentant. 

He’s gross Libertarian logic run rampant; if you die, it’s your own fault for not being stronger and pulling yourself up by your bootstraps! 

I think he understands in the sense of like a “textbook” reason as to why the WoL and the people he subjugates hate him, but can’t understand it in his heart.

Zenos is painfully aware of his surroundings at all times. He could have moved away-- he could have shifted swiftly from his reclined position and crushed the Xaela’s bones. He knew this. But-- the boredom ate at him, and simply doing so would have eliminated any chance to play. 

“Do you wish to kill me, child of the Steppe?” He had never been there personally, but had read much on the warlike children of Azim or-- was their god Nhaama? Or-- not that it mattered. They might prove to be truly fun playmates, wouldn’t they? Was this an assassination attempt? Likely.

He lifted his chin, a burst of laughter that would’ve sounded sweet from any other man. “Here, boy-- you must. No, there, just a bit to the right-- or you will be killing no one.”

On this blog I write a villain whom I interpret to be for lack of better phrase, a “complete monster.” I am full aware that what he has done and even at my hands will do, is heinous and horrible. I do not in any way condone his actions or consider my interpretation of them romanticized, though he himself does VERY MUCH romanticize the violence that he lives for.

I interpret Zenos to be someone who lacks a sense of empathy, and has found that the only way to feel anything is through violence, both physical and sexual. The two things are one and the same to him. I ask that if you’re sensitive to these topics to be choosy about whether or not you follow this blog, and even more choosy about whether or not you interact with the muse. There are plenty of places where I can be flexible, but I’m also not comfortable with de-clawing my muse and changing who he is at the core. I feel it is very important for men like Zenos to be portrayed in their horrible wholeness. Men like Zenos exist. People who know nothing but to desperately grasp for the only thing that makes them feel anything are among the most deadly and dangerous humans on the planet, and I would see the muse stand as an epithet to that.

I will never be upset with you for needing to unfollow me for whatever reason, I will never hunt you down for it. There will be no drama. I want you to keep your tumblr dash comfortable for you.
