I’m honestly fucking appalled that the greater LGBT community is dead silent on the fact that the Indian Child Welfare Act is going under review which means that white people are finalizing their steps at complete genocide against us (Native peoples). Obviously stealing is extremely messed up, I feel like that goes without saying. I'm talking about adoption, as you mentioned in your original post. Children in foster care or orphanages that need homes.

Many children in foster care have family that still want them, and even if the parents truely can't take care of them, there are almost always other family members who are willing to take the child in.

Native children are literally taken, almost always no reason other than suspicions of not being able to take care of their kids, and families have to fight to get their kids back, if theyre able to get their kids back at all.

It's often years long, traumatizing the child in the process!

The government will harass and harass and come up with every little reason why you aren't a "suitable parent" trying to break you, wanting you to just give up and surrender your child to the system.

Then, they adopt these kids out to white families, so they're Seperated from their culture.

i think part of what makes these (gross) types of comments/questions so common (beyond the fact that adoption is sold across party lines as this beautiful good thing while ignoring its history as a tool of genocide) in addition to the fact that people are invested in following their liberal ~race blind~ ideals is that people don't understand that adoption is a legal procedure, not just the act of raising a child that isn't their own-- plenary adoption involves the complete legal severance from one's family of origin; any right to inheritance, contact, medical records, and sometimes citizenship is completely gone, along with the right to even know that those things have been changed.

people also fail to realize that cps and child removal is extremely racialized, in part or whole due to its history as a tool of genocide, with some areas having incidences of investigation as high as almost 63% of families in some black communities, and the only other places with statistics like those is in native communities. in addition to "traditional" child removal, private adoption agencies (which are a multi-billion dollar per year venture in the US alone) have little to no oversight and are fairly free to coerce pregnant people into giving up their babies when they otherwise wouldn't. coercion is EXTREMELY common in adoption cases, here is a list of some tactics commonly employed. additionally, even if the birthing parent requests an open adoption (adoption where the child stays in contact with their original family, about 95% of adoptions are currently supposed to be done this way because "strangely" most children who are given up aren't "unwanted" as a previous commenter so cruelly put it; most people don't actually want to give up their children and the number one reason people give up their children is financial, and as we all know, income inequality is affected by race making this a racial issue) this is not legally enforceable in a little under half of all states.

the unfortunate fact of the matter is also that a lot of lgbt people are Huge Fuckin Libs and very myopic and i have seen and personally been on the receiving end of hateful comments for pointing out the truth about adoption out to (invariably white) lgbt HAPs (hopeful adoptive parents). they're self centered and have bought into the narrative that adoption is good and it's a narrative frequently pushed by our community both online and off, and many white lgbt people look at adopting as exercising their hard-won rights and see any criticism as an attack on their sexuality.

this is really important so i’m posting it here because it’ll probably get removed and the original poster may be banned, but this is literal documentation and proof that terfs and transphobes are directly connected to the far-right and have roots in racism, homophobia, misogyny, and antisemitism. it really is all part of the same oppressive system, so there is no disconnecting transphobia from conservatism. there is no such thing as a progressive transphobe as much as they may want you to believe. it has nothing to do with biology or protecting women or children, none of it is founded in science or logic, it is purely hatred and and attempt to justify bigotry.

I got radicalized into the far-right on TikTok.  Well, technically I didn’t, but an account that I made did, and this is a graph of what that looked like.  I just published this study, and I’ll link it in the comments, but I’ll also break it down right now, here.

So I wanted to examine whether or not transphobia is a gateway prejudice that leads to like, broader far-right radicalization.  It’s been pretty clear for a while now that the far-right is transphobic, but we wanted to see whether being transphobic alone was enough to lead you to the far right.

So I made a brand new TikTok account and followed 14 creators known to post transphobic content.  Then I started scrolling my ‘For You’ page, and I started exclusively engaging with transphobic content, and I documented the main narratives of the more than 400 videos recommended to me.  We also double-blind coded this, meaning that another researcher also watched every video and coded the narratives, and then if we ever disagreed, more researchers would come in and perform a tie-breaker.  Once we removed sponsored videos and videos that had been taken down before they could be double-coded, we were left with 360 videos.

Of the 360 total videos, 103 were homophobic or anti-trans, 42 were misogynistic, 29 contained racist narratives or white supremacist messaging, and 14 endorsed violence.  Obviously, TikTok didn’t just like give us neo-nazi content immediately.  I actually didn’t get my first Nazi symbol until video 141.  But the more I interacted with transphobic content, the more I was fed not only more transphobic content, but also homophobia and misogyny and racism and antisemitism.  So I didn’t actually have to interact with racist content to be fed white supremacist content, I just had to engage with transphobic content.

What you see in this graph is the TikTok algorithm starting off with a normal feed — memes, recipes, whatever — and then going “OHH, you’re transphobic!  Have you tried hating the gays?  What about women?”

So, it appears that transphobia can radicalize a TikTokker.

Around video 400, you’ll notice an interesting spike in far-right figures, hate symbols, antisemitism and calls to violence.  That’s when I reached fascist TikTok and set my phone on fire.  400 videos might sound like a lot, but if a user watches each video for an average of 20 seconds, they would end up watching 400 videos in just over 2 hours.  So, a user could basically download the app at breakfast and be fed the overtly white supremacist, neo-nazi content before lunch.

If you followed the FritoLay strike and the Nabisco strike, this is nearly verbatim the same story.

Massive multinational corporations using the pandemic as an excuse to mandate overtime and enforce brutal hours on a workforce that is already overworked. On top of that, reducing pay and benefits, forcing workers to work more hours before paying into their pension, enforcing a two-tier pay structure that has newest workers coming in with little to no security, all the while raking in record profits.

Kellogg's, like FritoLay and Nabisco are threatening workers with moving production to Mexico -- attempting to pit exploited worker against exploited worker.

The Kellogg's workers are members of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union (BCTGM) -- the union that the FritoLay and Nabisco workers are a part of. lt should have been possible and imperative for BCTGM to have organized all three workplaces to strike together for maximum effect.

Support the strike, but also 100% put pressure on BCTGM to pay strike wages to the workers and to uphold worker demands in negotiations.

Not only is it true, it gets worse. The Susan G Komen For The Cure Foundation has actually successfully sued “competing” charities, because (paraphrasing) their “message or branding was infringing.”

You read that correctly: they took money that people had donated to cure cancer, and hired attorneys with it, to sue ANOTHER group of people trying to find a cure for cancer, who, in turn, had to us their donated money to hire their own legal counsel to defend themselves.
