genuinely I'm so sick of people wanting all fiction to be ethical. can we all just get a little gross with it. the point of fiction is that it's not real. we can be unethical in fiction; same goes with being perverted with fiction, being unrealistic with fiction, and being grotesque with fiction. not all fiction has to be ethical, not every character has to be ethical, and that's okay. can we stop with the puritanism. be gross. be unrealistic. be whatever. if I don't like it it's not my business as long as we're all clear that its fictional.

Popping back in here for a moment to say that I am BEGGING everyone and their mother to watch this latest MV from Ryuseitai for their new song “Break the Norm”!!!!!!!

This song is genuinely phenomenal from start to finish in so many aspects. For one thing, the vocals are so incredible in this song. As a unit Ryuseitai sounds so perfectly as one as they usually do. But I need to give a special shoutout to Shinobu because this is, by far, the BEST singing I’ve heard from him to date! Anju Nitta, thank you for your work on this song, it was batshit insane in all the best ways 🥰

And the choreography in this??? This is some of the most complex choreography we’ve seen in a Ryuseitai MV so far and the boys make it work from start to finish, so absolutely in sync! And I love love LOVE that in contrast to typical Ryuseitai MVs this one has a more muted, monochrome-esque look to both the set and the costumes. It only makes the vocals and choreography pop even more by giving it extra emphasis and the traces of color, such as the glass shard in everyone’s signature color, is a perfect touch!

I’ve seen some people acting like this song doesn’t fit Ryuseitai but I couldn’t disagree more! One look at the lyrics alone showcases that the song is very much Ryuseitai to its core: discussing making their own path separate from the barriers that were forced upon them so that they can live their lives as who they truly are. In terms of style, this just showcases how versatile of a unit Ryuseitai is which matches with how the Ryuseitai of the present is one that acknowledges and accepts all the colors “justice” takes and is able to show off that they can in turn do anything together. And I already discussed why I like the more muted color look.

Plus this song shows off just how COOL Shinobu is!!! By looks and general demeanor alone people will write off Shinobu as a little kid/cutesy while not acknowledging or brushing off how mature he is. So I’m glad this song and the story itself is about Shinobu wishing to break off from that narrow image to showcase how truly versatile he is!!!

Anyways, to no one’s surprise, another absolute BOP from Ryuseitai, my boys never miss!!!!!
