Owning pets is by its nature assembling a gallery of grief. They are far more temporary than we are.
Each one hits different. They don't necessarily get easier, nor do they necessarily get harder, and how much you loved them doesn't necessarily predict how hard the loss is to process. No matter how many losses you weather smoothly, there is always the possibility that the next will be a different pain that might break you open as if it were the very first one.
So I say this with love: There is not a hidden level of enlightenment where you have achieved a comfortable understanding of death/loss/grief and from then on will no longer struggle to process and put it in its place in the gallery. It will never be a completely predictable thing.
Please be very careful you don't ever expect that of others, and definitely not of yourself.
missing you

I think I’ve been through every emotion available this week. I’m done feeling. Looking for a billionaire to help me pay my vet bills. DM if interested.
