and of course having left/been ejected from a graduate program i live with the devastating truth that anything negative i say about academia can be easily discredited as sour grapes, bitterness, etc. which is part of why i feel like i need to wait a bit before having a definitive stance; i too want to make sure i'm not just reacting out of bitterness in the wake of an emotionally charged experience. but on the other hand the systemic shortcomings have been evident from day one, and also emotional experience should not be dismissed as a type of information.
